Author's POV:

The backyard of Nayak Nivas was been all decked up. Beautiful colorful lanterns, lit up the garden beautifully. There were red carpets spread across with a path of red and pink rose petals spread across as a path made for the couple and the family to reach the stage that was set up.

Siddhesh and Ragini were getting engaged!!!

Siddhesh had given nod after his uncle confirmed that it was a 'yes' from Ragini's side.

It was a grand engagement affair. Nayak's daughter was getting engaged. Her cousins, relatives everyone was invited. Kamaths were also invited for maintaining social relationships. Also Sumanth Nayak wanted to show Kamaths that his daughter found a better man than Rohit.

However the engagement ceremony was a huge gossip affair. Ragini was dressed in a beautiful baby pink silk saree and adored gold jewellery. With a little red bindi and a simple hairdo she looked like an angel.

The crowd was mesmerized by her beauty. But the minute Siddhesh arrived on the stage with his loose blue shirt, oiled hair and black framed glasses the gossip mongers began!!!

Oh my god... Nayak's are marrying her to this guy.???

Gosh he looks like a monkey!!!

She's so beautiful yet so unlucky!!!

Was she pregnant before marriage or so??? Why are they getting her married to him???

I heard the guy is filthy rich...no parents ... he's an orphan...I'm sure it's all money honey!!!

I heard Kamaths rejected her...so the girl seeks revenge...but seriously... Swati is atleast stylish... what is he??? Who dresses up like that?

Ragini could hear everything. But she still maintained her calm. Siddhesh was innocently following all the rituals. As Siddhesh didn't have anyone in his family the rituals for him were performed by Mukund.

Finally after the traditional engagement ceremony. Siddhesh and Ragini were made to exchange rings.

Ragini's parents had purposely got alphabetical engagement rings. Ragini felt like her parents put up an exam timetable before her. The ring meant nothing more to her!!!

Once the rings were exchanged guests began pouring in to wish the couple. Siddhesh politely replied a thankyou and smiled, while Ragini stayed grumpy and uninterested.

Siddhesh noticed her behaviour however let it go thinking she must have been still upset about what happened between her and Rohit. He wanted to talk to her so he even went to her room before the ceremony in the morning but she slammed the door on his face.

Ragini and Siddhesh's cousin's entered the stage and began making fun of her.

'Ragz I hope you know right you don't need to buy oil after marriage for cooking... Siddhesh is a moving oil factory...Right Siddhu???' said Amitash, their maternal cousin...

'Ohhh that way Siddhu has to hide Ragini
.. because she's way too pretty for him..'
said Suraj

'Come on guys don't be mean...I mean not everyone can end up with Rohit...big deal Ragini tried but then fate you see...come on Ragz.. he's rich babe... you'll enjoy' said Amrutha...

And that was it Ragini's hell broke loose she shot a teary glare to Amrutha which didn't go unnoticed by Siddhesh.

Teasing was common for Siddhesh. It hurt him but he never bothered much. Ragini never made fun of his looks but today she looked embarassed infront of all her cousins. Her father stopped her for the photo session. She tried to go but her father held her hand and sent her back on stage.

Photographer asked Siddhesh to hold Ragini by her waist but noticing Ragini's discomfort he denied the photographer. The entire evening Ragini looked frustrated, angry and annoyed.

Siddhesh kind of had a hint that his uncle definitely lied about Ragini's YES!!!

He decided to confront her after the engagement.

It was ticking 8:30 pm. Siddhesh was asked to stay back at Nayak Nivas. He did not deny because he would sleep at 9 pm sharp. He had to talk to Ragini as well. Siddhesh was asked to stay with Mukund. But excusing himself he went to Ragini's room.

He knocked at the door but there was no response. He slowly pushed the door and saw Ragini sitting on the bed with the same saree.

Her jewellery was thrown on the bed carelessly. Amongst all that also lied the S shaped engagement ring.

Siddhesh's eyes fell on it. He cleared his throat trying to gain her attention. But she didn't budge.

Seeing no response from her he slowly called her out...

'Ragini'

To which she asked in one go without turning around
..

'Why are you here??? Get out' she said harshly.

Siddhesh was kind of taken back. His doubts were coming alive.

'Sumanth uncle didn't ask your opinion before this engagement ceremony?' he came straight to the point..

'Why do you care??? You are happy right??? This is what you wanted' she spat

He was shocked.

He went and sat infront of her...

'Ragini... believe me...I ...I didn't...I said yes because your father said it was a yes from your side' he said softly...yet in a worried tone.

'And you believed??? You were going to get engaged to me...not once you thought right...how could I say yes to you...huhhh... forget love attraction...you are not even a friend!!!' she yelled

Now Siddhesh was clear Sumanth uncle had forced Ragini...
He cursed himself for not talking to her before the engagement.

'I swear I didn't know Ragini...why didnt you say a no' he asked...

'My grandfather had an attack Siddhesh...you think I'm that selfish??? But that doesn't mean I accept you or I have forgotten anything...you are nowhere my match...I can never settle off with you... and if by getting engaged to me and with this meaningless engagement ring in my finger you can stop me fly...let's see' she said angrily.

He didn't get the context of what she was speaking...

She came and threw a document on his face..

'I found myself a job in Mumbai
..I'm going!!! You and these pretentious people feel free to continue this drama...I'm done with this'  she shouted.

While Siddhesh began analysing the document. He was shocked.

'Shocked??? You thought you can easily get engaged to me...then marriage huh? You think this is all some novel is it??? My love got engaged to someone doesn't mean he doesn't love me...his phone isn't reachable.. I will clear all the confusion soon!!! Don't think you have any chance!!! Rohit loves me!!! I trust him. It must be his parents...he can never ditch me!!! Never....heard that ??? You... opportunist' she said and finally pulled out the glass bangles harshly from her hand and threw it on the floor...

They broke into pieces!!!

Siddhesh was shocked at her outrage!!!

But what shocked him more was her statement about her emotions for Rohit!!!

She still trusts him... Rohit!!!

And what hurt more was...

She still doesn't believe him!!! Siddhesh!!!
