A Decision

A few days later, Emmaline was taken off of the oxygen and she was breathing really well on her own now.
Stevie and Emmaline were released from the hospital a two days later and were now in Stevie's hotel room.
Karen was there helping her because Lindsey had to go back home.

Stevie cried when he said he was going home to get everything out in the open with Kristen but she didn't want him to leave.

But here she was alone with her daughter.
It was a huge adjustment for Stevie having done what she wanted when she wanted.
Now it was all of what Emmaline wanted.

Stevie felt overwhelmed, especially not being in her own home.
Stevie sobbed in Karen's arms, Karen comforted Stevie and offered to take care of Emmaline, and only waking Stevie for her feedings.
Stevie was more than willing and accepted Karen's help.

Emmaline was now two weeks old, Karen had got everything planned to head back home.
It would be a long drive home but Karen thought it was the best way to travel.
Stevie agreed and also decided to stop by her parents home in Phoenix so they can meet their new granddaughter.
They were in for a huge surprise when they would see Stevie walk in holding Emmaline.

On the morning of the trip home, Karen packed everything into the car that way when Stevie was ready they could leave.

Before leaving, Stevie nursed Emmaline then she placed her in her car seat and off they went.
Karen drove for hours, only stopping so Stevie could nurse the baby or change her diaper and of course for bathroom breaks.

But finally they made it to Phoenix; Karen was exhausted but glad that they had made it.
Stevie's parents already knew she was coming; they were excited to see Stevie, they hadn't seen her since she had left for the Say You Will tour.

Karen pulled into the driveway then helped Stevie out.
Stevie then took Emmaline into her arms covered in her blanket.
Karen grabbed the diaper bag and led the way to the front door.
Stevie took a deep breath then stepped forward and knocked on the door.

The door opened and Stevie's mother Barbara smiled wide. "Stephanie! I've missed...you."
Barbara stared at the bundle of blankets in Stevie's arms then looked up at Stevie.
"I've missed you too Mom!" Stevie said while hugging her mother with one arm and still holding Emmaline in the other.
"Teedee? What are you holding in your arms?!" Barbara guessed already but wanted to hear it with her own ears.
"Let's go inside and I'll show you...and daddy too." Stevie said feeling nervous once again.

They all went inside and walked to the living room where Stevie's father Jess was sitting.
Jess was about to greet Stevie but was curious about what Stevie was holding.
Barbara sat down next to Jess then they both looked at Stevie.
"Hi daddy. I missed you." Stevie said then came closer to give him a hug, she stood up straight then took off the blanket from the baby's face.
Stevie put the sleeping baby in Barbara's arms and said. "Mom, daddy, meet Emmaline...your granddaughter!" Stevie stepped back and smiled.
Barbara and Jess looked at the baby then looked back at Stevie. They both saw the resemblance; Emmaline looked just like Stevie, except for the curly hair.
The baby began to stir sensing she wasn't in her mother's arms; she slowly opened her eyes and looked up at Barbara.
Barbara gasped as she saw the baby's big blue eyes. "Stephanie? She's so precious...but please explain yourself!"

Stevie sighed as she realized, this is how it was going to go from now on until everyone found out that she had a baby.
Stevie began speak about the events of the last show of the tour; about not feeling well, about the pain that persisted through out the day then leading to the trip to the hospital.
"It's turns out that...the pain I was experiencing were contractions." Stevie stopped for a second then continued. "Wow, I can't believe I was in labor through the entire show!" Stevie said with a chuckle, still in shock herself. Barbara and Jess gazed at Stevie with opened mouths.

After a moment, Barbara and Jess composed themselves.
They then began to gush over the new addition to their family.

Stevie had tears of joy in her eyes seeing her parents with her daughter.
Karen took her phone out and took a picture of the new grandparents with their granddaughter; it was the most precious sight.

"What's her full name?" Jess asked, wanting to know but already guessing who the father was.
"Emmaline Nicks...Buckingham." Stevie said not looking at her parents, afraid of their reaction.
Barbara and Jess looked at each other but didn't say anything.
Barbara just smiled then looked back at her new granddaughter. "Welcome to the family Emmaline. We are going to spoil you rotten." Barbara chuckled then continued on in baby talk. "Yes we are."
Stevie let out the breath she had been holding and relaxed into her seat.

Emmaline began to get fussy, she let out a cry.
"Oh oh...what's wrong Emma?" Barbara asked as if the baby would answer.
"She's hungry." Stevie said knowing instantly; they hadn't had a chance to stop for a while, plus Stevie could feel how heavy and uncomfortable her breasts were.

Stevie stood up to take Emmaline. "I'll just be in the kitchen nursing her."
Stevie took Emmaline into her arms and the baby calmed down a bit.

"Stevie? Is it okay if I go up to bed?" Karen asked shyly.
"Oh Karen I'm sorry! Of course!" Stevie said as she moved closer to Karen. "Thank you so much Karen for getting us here." She gave Karen a hug then Karen excused herself to the guest bedroom that was already set up for her.

Stevie then went to the kitchen and sat down at the kitchen table; she pulled her blouse up and pulled down her bra then held Emmaline close to her breast.
Immediately, Emmaline began to suckle.
Stevie smiled down at her daughter. "I love you baby girl. So much." She then kissed the baby's cheek.

Emmaline came as a huge surprise to Stevie, she was totally unprepared but nevertheless, Emmaline was truly a blessing in her life.

Lindsey sat in his home studio hiding from Kristen.
He picked at his guitar mindlessly; he thought about the last week or so.
He had called Stevie to check in on her and the baby. He told her he couldn't wait till they got back home so he can go see them.
Stevie told him they would stay in Phoenix for a week then head home.

When he had came home he hadn't told Kristen right away. Lindsey took a day or so to do so, spending time with children but of course he couldn't give them his full attention.

Finally after a few days, Lindsey sat Kristen down after she had finished nursing Stella.
Kristen put Stella down for her nap while Will and Leelee were outside playing on their swing set.

Lindsey sat across from Kristen and was extremely nervous.
Kristen could tell something was wrong since he got back home but hadn't brought it up.

"Kristen, I have to tell you something." Lindsey started. "I wasn't truthful about Stevie...about her being in the hospital...she didn't have her appendix removed."
"Okay...then why was she in the hospital?" Kristen asked looking into her husband's eyes.
"She...um...Stevie had a...a baby." Lindsey said.
Kristen couldn't help but laugh. "Very funny Lindsey!" She said. "I mean no disrespect towards Stevie but...isn't she...well, older."
Lindsey didn't laugh or did he look as if he was joking.
Kristen stopped laughing as she realized that Lindsey was being serious.
"Lindsey...why didn't you just tell me?" Kristen said. "Wow, I didn't know she was involved with anyone." She said oblivious.
"Kristen...there's more." Lindsey said taking her hand in his.
Kristen's brow furrowed. "Lindsey? Where are you going with this?"
Lindsey closed his eyes then took and deep breath. He opened his eyes and looked Kristen straight in the eye. "I'm so sorry Kristen...I didn't plan on hurting you but it happened. I'm the father of Stevie's baby."
Kristen's eyes were wide, tears began to roll down her cheeks as Lindsey's words sunk in.
Kristen pulled her hand away from Lindsey and stood up and began pacing.
"You cheated on me!!! Well, that's just great! You swore to me that there wasn't anything going on between you two! You swore to me that what ever was going on on stage was just part of the show! An act!" Kristen then stood in front of Lindsey and slapped him across his face. "You bastard! I trusted you! You're my husband! You cheated on me...and with someone that I considered a friend! Oh god! How could Stevie do this me?!"
Kristen was sobbing by now, she sat on the sofa and hugged herself. "Now the two of you have a child together..."
"Kristen...I..." Lindsey said trying to comfort her.
"No!" Kristen yelled as she stood up again. "Don't touch me! I can't even look at you!"
And with that...Kristen went upstairs and locked herself in the bedroom.

Lindsey came out of his thoughts; he put down his guitar and decided to go upstairs, maybe Kristen would finally speak to him.

Lindsey peaked in on the kids, they were in playing in the play room. He smiled; he loved his children. He couldn't wait to see Emmaline again.

Lindsey found Kristen in the kitchen cooking dinner.
He began to help Kristen by setting the table.

A few minutes passed by when Kristen turned to him and said. "I've thought about our situation. Now...I'm going to give you a choice here. You can either divorce me and go be with Stevie and your child or stay with me and our children, also you can't see her child. Oh and if you do decide to divorce me, I will file for full custody of the children and you won't ever see them again." Kristen said with anger in her eyes. "Once I give the judge proof of what kind of person you are, he will grant me full custody. You're a liar and a cheater! What kind of man cheats on his wife with an ex girlfriend then gets her pregnant! You're a piece of shit Lindsey!"

Lindsey stared at her with wide eyes. "Kristen...you can't make me choose! They are my children, you can't keep them away from me! And Emmaline, she's my daughter too! She needs me just as much as our children do!"
Kristen looked into his eyes and said. "I already told you what my plan is. It's up to you now to decide, it's either going to be our children...or her daughter. I won't let you have both."

Kristen turned around and continued to cook dinner as if she hadn't spoken.
Lindsey stood there with tears in his eyes; was Kristen really serious? How could he choose? There was no way he could; he loved all his children equally.

Lindsey lost his appetite then and retreated back to his studio.
He locked the door then slumped to the floor; he took out his phone where he had taken a picture of Stevie and Emmaline in the hospital right before he left.
He stared at the photo and sobbed his heart out.
