Prolouge
Within the blanket of darkness that overlooked the land, Khonsu watched.
She gazed down at the tribe of cats who worshipped at the gods paws, the cats who would do anything to please them. On some nights, it would feel strange to the goddess, despite having ruled over these cats and their ancestors for thousands of years. But nonetheless, her mind always wandered back to that place where she was grateful for her powers.
As she silently watched over the cats as they sleepily milled through their camp, paw steps could be heard as a pair mollies padded towards Khonsu.
Her ear twitched, acknowledging her fellow goddess's prescence. "Hathor. Heka," she mewed, her eyes not leaving the tribe below her. "What news do you come with?"
Hathor and Heka looked into each other's eyes hesitatingly before Heka walked a little closer to the black molly. "Ra has made his decision. One of Houndhowl's kits will be cursed."
This was enough to make Khonsu take her gaze off the tribe, staring at her fellow goddesses mockingly. "Oh really?" She drawled, letting out a snort. "And this is the same god who wants to protect Houndhowl for attacking the jasmine of his own life form? By the stars, Ra can never seem to make up his mind..."
She shook her head, as if he was a lost cause. Hathor glared defiantly at Khonsu, but made no advances forward. "Ra knows what he is doing, Khonsu. And even you know that Houndhowl never attacked the jasmine. So why blame my mate? Your fellow god?" She countered, her voice as soft and silky as her pelt.
Khonsu rolled her eyes. "I expected you to be loyal to your precious Ra," she sighed. "But surely even you recognize his dangerous plans for the future?"
Hathor's eyes rounded, and she stayed quiet. Heka replied instead. "Everyone knows that what Ra wants to do is risky," she admitted. "But you know why we give them the demigods. To test the Tribe's loyalty."
Khonsu's pelt bristled. "But isn't having his Pharaoh enough for him?" She challenged. "Shouldn't his almighty creation satisfy his hunger for control? Ra once again wants to birth children into the tribe. And this time, it could be riskier and deadlier than anything they've ever faced,"
Hathor's crimson eyes blinked. "If The Tribe of Burning Sun if strong, they will thrive with the prescence of demigods. They will resist committing sins against our names. And besides..." she gazed meaningfully at Khonsu. "... I have no doubts that you would kill for the chance to give birth to demigods, even though you have your priestess,"
Khonsu's pelt bristled. "I would never!" She snapped, hissing. "Unlike the greedy furball, I'm actually satisfied with having just my priestess,"
Her tail lashed as she growled, beginning to pace. "We can't do anything to convince him. First he's going to curse a young kitten with being the ugliest shecat in the Tribe, and he's going to allow demigods to walk the land?!"
Khonsu came to a pause, her body shaking a little in frustration before she sat down once more. She turned away from Hathor and Heka, staring down at the Tribe. "May we have mercy on you," she whispered to herself.
