Chapter 13
The Unexpected Encounter
The grass of the meadow was high above their knees and it was so green and healthy that they just stared at the beauty in front of them. There were also many symmetrical flowers in the meadow. Some were known to them, such as roses, lilacs, tulips, violets, marigolds and so on. Others were unreal to their rational minds because they were much more beautiful than anything they have seen in their lives. The colors of the flowers ranged from white to yellow, violet, and red, orange and so on. It seemed as if symmetry was the top priority of that meadow since it was filed with most symmetrical arrangements they had ever seen. There were neat and tidy rows of flowers of one color accompanied by a similar but lighter shade of the same color. It seemed as if the flowers were carefully woven into the green tapestry. They were growing together, in harmony, without ever hurting each other, a perfect symbiosis. It was an amazing balance between grass, flowers and big and small creatures living in the meadow. They could also see many colorful butterflies and birds flying around and enjoying the beauty of life. Although the meadow was nestled between two snow-covered mountain peaks, the climate was warm and comfortable. Jade thought that nothing could leave her speechless after everything they had seen since they washed up on the island, but she was wrong.
The magical beauty of the place in front of her was so strong that it had her hypnotized. There was something else, something both strange and beautiful about the arrangement of flowers. Many flowers were arranged in rectangles, some sides of the meadow seemed to be predestined for circular arrangements and so on. They could clearly imagine how beautiful it was from above, so they didn't have to waste their magic dust on checking it out. It looked like a complex labyrinth of colors and shapes, a mosaic of pure joy. As they contemplated the wonders of nature, something astonishing happened. A few feet in front of them stood a person who looked perfect in her pure beauty. She had long dark hair which was reaching her knees. It looked so soft and shiny that all the girls could do was admire it. "Who are you?" A soft voice asked while her big brown eyes were fixated on the two of them. Amber could see how clear and bright her eyes were, and she could see deep into the goodness of her heart. "My name is Amber and this is Jade. We mean you no harm. Would you mind telling us who you are?" "My name is Avo Jana, and I am the Naiad of this meadow." Avo Jana replied. "Naiad?" asked Jade. "What is a Naiad exactly? I know some stories, but I am not sure if they are true or not."
"Ah, that is a long story. Shall we sit down, and then you can tell me your story first." "Very well," Amber replied. As she was retelling the story, she also observed different things about the Naiad. Her skin was snow-white, especially when seen in contrast with her long dark hair. It was a perfect combination that looked very well on her. Around her eyes and around her face her skin color was different, it was light green. It looked as if she was trying to blend in with the grass and the other greenery around her. However, her dress seemed to have quite the opposite job, to be seen, to be free. It was a very long and colorful dress and it reminded Amber of a rainbow. Not the regular rainbow but a different kind of rainbow, like the one you have dreamed of a long time ago and can't quite remember. It seemed as if the green color was predominant one but it also made gentle transitions to every color known to men. There was just the perfect balance of colors to make it look rich and beautiful. It wasn't like those paintings some people make, those people who keep adding things to their paintings thinking they needed just one more thing and then getting angry when they get overcrowded paintings. Avo Jana's movements were slow and gracious, and she had a simple white band in her hair and it moved in a perfect harmony with her body.
