Chapter 26.

Shehroz.

"Are you happy?" Shaheer asked me. I shrugged in reply and continue to do my work. Honestly, I don't know if I am happy or not, but I think it is time to move on. Still a big part of me didn't want to forget Aminah but I couldn't do anything. 

It has been 9 months since I saw her. She didn't want me in her life. If she did then she would call me, but she didn't. Whenever I tried to call her, she didn't pick up. I ask Hira about her, she changed the conversation or hung up on me.

After promising Mom to marry with whoever she wants me to, I went back to L.A and busy myself in work. As the months pass I didn't really think about the promise, but only worried about Aminah. A few weeks ago, Mom called to remind me my promise and ask me to come back because she find a perfect girl for me which I highly doubt but didn't say anything and accept the proposal. 

I came back yesterday morning and didn't get a chance to meet her because our family wants us to get engaged quickly. I didn't see her, nor Mom show me her picture. She just told me last night at dinner that today we are going at their house for engagement. I know this all is going so fast, but I couldn't say no after seeing how much happy my family is.

"Here." I smiled at Mom as  she fixes my messy hairs. She insists on doing it and I just let her to do to make her happy. 

"We should go. They will be waiting for us." I say standing up when I saw her eyes watering up. I look at her in the mirror and saw her wiping her eyes. 

"Yeah, but before that I have to tell you something." I nodded for her to continue.

"Your future wife had gone through a lot. She was betrayed and had a rough past. I want you to promise me that you will take care of her and never do anything that may hurt her." She looks at me sternly. I smiled and nodded.

"I promise Mom." I give her a side hug making her smile at me.

Soon we were on the road going to my future wife house to get engaged. Shaheer was driving while I was sitting beside him. Dad, Mom, Shaheer wife were in middle and my nephew was in the back. I look out of window trying to calm myself. I don't know why I feel restless when I know everything is going to be okay. 

Shaheer started to slow down and stop in front of a nice double story house. It looks good from outside and was painted in white. When we get out, I turned to look and saw Rauhan parking his car behind us. I smiled and we walk toward them. His parents give me their blessing with a smile. Rauhan give me a brotherly hug while our parents walk toward the door. We quickly follow them and waited for the door to get open. 

"Assalam-o-Alaikum." I looked up and was surprised to see Zoya standing with her 5 months old son Ibrahim. 

"Walaikum Assalam." Everyone gives their blessings and hug her. Amir step forward and take Ibrahim from her and started to cooe him.

When we went in the living room, I was more surprised to them there. I don't know what I am thinking is right or not, but I am not going to get my hopes on high. The man who is my sister's husband making me sit on the couch. 

"So, do you like our surprise?" Asim asked me. I look at him confused before getting what he means. Whatever I am thinking is right. What I want all these years is finally coming true. The girl I love is actually going to engage with me.

"Yeah." I nodded with a bright smile that make them laugh. I feel my cheeks heating slightly and try to cool it down.

"Go brings her down." Hira mother-in-law told her. She nodded and went upstairs with Zoya and Khadija. I look at the door waiting for her. 

"Who you are looking for?" Rauhan asked me. I shrugged and look at the door again. "Your love is right there." I follow his finger and glare at Shaheer when he give me a flying kiss with a wink.

I push Rauhan when he laughs at me. I rolled my eyes at my stupid brothers and pulled my phone out to keep myself busy until she come down. I answer some emails and reply some text messages before I heard someone entering. I quickly put my phone back and look up only to get freeze.

I wasn't shocked to see Aminah. I was shocked to see how beautiful she looks in that soft purple simple dress. It didn't look so much heavy or so much plain. It looks perfect on her. When I saw her face, I smile seeing how natural make up she had. She didn't do anything overly which I was thankful for. As she walks closer to me, I started to feel nervous, which was strange because I never feel like that in front of her. She gives me a small smile as she sits beside me.

When the ceremony's end, Aminah parents told everyone to have dinner and leave us alone. I mentally roll my eyes thinking that they should give us time before, so I could ask her if she was ready for this or not. 

"You look like you are mad." I look at Aminah when I heard her saying. I feel a smile on my lips and sigh. 

"It is not that. I just wanted to talk to you before all this." I say lifting my hand to show her the ring. She frowned and look down at her ring.

"You don't want to do this?" She asked me. I quickly shake my head thinking that she gets it wrong. 

"No. It is not that. I just want to know if you are ready to get in relationship after..." I trailed off. She looks down for a few minutesbefore looking up at me again. 

"Yeah. I am ready to make your life hell." Her answer makes me laugh softly. I nodded at her. 

"I will help you with that." I smirked and love the way she blush looking away.

"Shall we join others?" She nodded and we stood up to join everyone for dinner.

I didn't really think of all this but I know somewhere deep inside of me that I would get her in my life and I also know I had to wait for it but now my wait is over. She is right here with me ready to spend her life with me.
