Weapons of Destiny
After accepting that they had lost the chance they had on stopping the skeleton army, the team of four moved their focus on going after Kai and Sensei Wu.
The Fire Temple stood tall above the colored teens as they raced up towards the closed wooden doors, eyes scanning their surroundings for their friend and mentor
"Kai!" Cole raises his hands to his mouth, cupping them to try and make his voice travel further and louder, "Sensei!"
"Where are they?" A mutter passes Alyssa's lips, the girl worryingly bitting down on the skin of her inner cheek.
Zane was the next to speak, his eyes downcast. "The Sword of Fire was here, as well as our friends, but I only sense loss." He lifts his head to stare each of his friends in the eye with a frown, "We are too late. The Elemental Weapons have left this realm and are now in the Underworld. The end is drawing near."
Groaning, Cole throws his head back, "Ugh... great. The one place no mortal can cross over."
Making all of them jump and turn their attention to the closed doors of the Temple was a familiar voice that echoes out to them, "We might not be able to cross over..."
Everyone steps back in awe as the doors slowly open to reveal Kai, along with Nya and the Fire Dragon standing tall proudly, "But a dragon can."
A scream from Cole scares the living daylights out of the group next to him, the ravenette jumping to hide behind one of the pillars of the Temple, his whole frame shaking.
"Our father used to tell us stories about the dragons, that they were mystical creatures that belong to both worlds and ferried between them." Nya smiles softly up at the orange and red dragon.
A nervous chuckle leaves Cole, "Are you insane?!" He whispers harshly at her, his eyes stuck on the towering beast in front of them all.
"Come on, Cole." Alyssa grins teasingly towards the Earth elemental, a breathy laugh escaping her lungs, "Look at him! How can you be scared of such a cutie!"
"That cutie could eat you whole!" Cole fires back quickly, hugging the pillar closer towards his chest, his eyes locked on Alyssa as if she was crazy.
Kai rolls his eyes and looks towards the dragon, "Once he realised we were trying to protect the Sword of Fire, he actually became quite a softie." As if understanding his words, the dragon nudges the brunette with its snout, making him and Nya laugh. "Knock it off."
A choking sort of noise gains everyone's attention, which turned out to be Jay trying to say something through his bruised throat. He ends up wincing in the end and coughing into his hand.
"He cannot talk, but he wants to know if you like blue." Zane translates for the Blue ninja, who had directed the question towards the girl dressed in red.
Nya smiles politely towards Jay, "It's my favorite color."
With a groan and a small fist pump, Jay mutters out a small, "Yes." in celebration.
Kai shakes his head in annoyance before sighing, realising that he would be leaving his sister once again. "Nya..."
Nya turns to face her brother, a frown on her lips. "This is goodbye, isn't it?" She asks quietly, only receiving a small nod from Kai. "Come back to me in one piece, okay? I don't wanna have to run the store on my own."
"I promise I won't be gone for long." Kai places a comforting hand on Nya's shoulder, the younger girl smiling bittersweetly.
"I'll keep a candle lit outside our shop until you return." The short haired girl pats her brother's hand that sat on her shoulder, praying that he and the others returned to her safely.
Everyone begins to climb onto the dragon, the only one who hadn't moved was a frozen Cole, who waved at the others from his pillar, "You guys go on ahead. There's not enough room for all of us on that...thing."
"He's not a thing, Cole." Alyssa scoffs, rubbing a hand along the dragons warm scales.
"No, Cole's right." Kai shakes his head, an almost evil grin forming on his lips, "But I got a way to fix that."

The sound of powerful wings beating against the air was loud in the ninjas ears, though none of them seemed to mind. It was the next day, and they had all managed to retrieve their dragon protectors.
Jay was laughing and whooping loudly with all the adrenaline pumping through his veins, the lightning dragon letting out a roar with him, matching his excitement.
Besides him flies Zane and Alyssa, a silent smile on the White ninjas face while Alyssa held her chin high behind him, enjoying the wind rushing through her hair and over her face.
Kai flies his own dragon solo, the red beast leading the pack. Not too far from him was Cole, not having as much fun as the others.
"E-Easy, not so fast!" Cole whines out, somehow finding himself in the saddle backwards.
"This is quite fun." Zane lets out the smallest of laughs.
"You can say that again." Alyssa sighs loudly, eyes closed in bliss at the feeling of the cold wind, "I never want to come down from here."
Swallowing nervously, Cole speaks up from his dragon, "So how do the dragons cross over to the Underworld?"
As the dragons start to pick up speed, flying higher and higher into the sky, Kai holds the reins of his dragon tighter, "I think we're about to find out..."
The dragons come to a stop, high above the clouds before going into a deep dive, their wings clutched close to their scaly sides. Everyone screams, holding onto either each other tighter or the reins, panic only skyrocketing when the dragons begin to spin. A tornado of their own begins to form around them, and just as it looked like they were about to crash right into the ground, an orange portal opens up on the rocky floor, the dragons flying straight into it.
Cole slowly opened his eyes, breathing just as heavily as everyone else was, "Is it over?"
They seemed to have been flying through a rocky tunnel, glowing purple stones lodged here and there lighting up the tight space.
Kai shakes his head, calling over his shoulder to the rest of the team, "Hardly! I hope these dragons know what they're doing!"
And it seemed like they did. The large dragons dived between tunnels, turned around sharp corners and even dodged any obstacle that came in their way. All throughout the tunnel, the team stayed together, even as they started to increase in speed again.
"They're speeding up! Hold on!" Kai calls out as another orange portal opens up in front of them again, and within a split second of silence, they made it through to the other side; The Underworld.
The dragons come to a screeching halt against the ground, claws gripping and scrapping the floor until they come to a halt, strong enough to send all the riders flying off their backs with loud groans and grunts.
With everyone breathing heavily, the first voice to echo around the cave was Cole, "Solid ground. We made it!"
Standing up on shaky legs, they all focus on the structure of the Underworld. Large floating pieces of the ground are connected by wooden bridges, and floating just a little below all of the other pieces of floating earth was an even larger part which was holding a dark and tall building.
The only thing stopping them from rushing over there was the fact that the building was surrounded by the Skulkin and their many vehicles.
"Sensei's inside." Zane mutters, blue eyes locked on the structure ahead of them.
Kai nods towards the army surrounding the building, "They're expecting us."
The team watch one of the skeletons wheeling a cart full of supplies be stopped by Kruncha, the deep voiced skeleton shaking a fist at the lone soldier. "Hold up! Nothing gets through without inspection."
"Ninja search!" Nuckal cheers a bit too happily, throwing himself into the cart. He throws everything that was inside the cart onto the ground without a care while his partner just cringes behind him.
Finding nothing suspicious now that everything that the soldier was wheeling was now thrown on the ground, Nuckal jumps back to a disappointed Kruncha's side, "Okay, clear to pass."
After discussing a quick plan to get over the army of skeletons without being noticed, the team find themselves jumping from stalactite to stalactite silently.
Without noticing, the team end up hanging onto a large spider like creatures legs, the only one to take any notice of this was Jay who had looked up and spotted the fanged face of the spider. The blue colored teenager tries to warn them, yet all that come out of his mouth are more garbled noises.
"Can I be the first to say it's been an absolute pleasure since Jay lost his voice?" Cole mentions, gaining a quick nod of agreement from Kai.
"I don't know," Alyssa shrugs besides him, gripping the 'stalactite' tighter, "It's kind of weird, to be honest."
"I know? Jay, being silent? Definitely not use to it." Kai hums, totally oblivious to the annoyed yet absolutely terrified look Jay was sending the both of them.
The boy clad in blue continues to make his noises louder, finally gaining the attention of his fellow ninja. When the rest of the team finally turned and looked towards the noise, their screams of terror make the spider like creature hiss down at them loudly.
Without thinking, everyone lets go of the creatures long legs. They free fall for a few minutes, shouts leaving all of their mouths before roughly landing on the hard, cold ground. They all cough, the wind being knocked out of their lungs, not noticing that they had been spotted by the Skeleton army.
Nuckal stares at the stunned ninja for a moment before turning to his fellow skeleton, Kruncha, "Uh... if there are more than one ninja, is it 'ninjas' or just 'ninja?'"
"I think it's just 'ninja.'" Kruncha replies, side eyeing his skeleton friend.
Pausing, Nuckal hums, "Oh, okay. Then, NINJA!" He throws a pointed arm towards the now standing ninja, ordering the army to attack.
The sound of bone shuffling together causes the team to huddle together, back to back with regular weapons in their hands, poised and ready to defend themselves.
"Why are there so many?" Alyssa groans out, her grip on her katana turning her knuckles white.
Cole twists and turns his head quickly, surveying their surroundings with a weak laugh. "I count ten boneheads to every one of us. I think I like these odds."
"You're kidding, right?" Alyssa turns to shoot the raven haired male a wide eyed look, "At a time like this? You're joking?"
"What?" Cole spins his scythe around in his hands and returns her look, "I'd rather go down with a laugh than anything else!"
Things only seem to get worse by the second as the spider creatures they had encountered not long ago begin to descend from the ceiling, joining the army.
"Uh-oh." Kai tries to take a step back but only manages to hit the others backs, fear laced in his voice, "Anyone got any bright ideas?!"

With the team surrounded by the army, Wu was on his own mission. Rushing down a spiral wooden staircase with the Sword of Fire wrapped in cloth in hand, he reaches the base level of the building with his stealth. He carefully walks inside of the musty room, not noticing a presence looming up behind him.
A deep chuckle echoes around the room, "Brother." Garmadon drawls out, watching Wu spin around quickly to stare back at him.
Quickly brandishing the sword from its cloth, Wu grips it steadily with both hands. "Brother." He mumbles, slowly starting his way towards the Warlord.
Scowling, Garmadon points towards his brother, "Seize the sword!" He orders, the skeletons that were in hiding jumping out of the shadows to surround the old Master.
With quick thinking, Wu narrows his eyes, "Ninja, go!" Within a blink of an eye, a golden tornado surrounds the old man, which knocks out the skeletons around him effortlessly. Skidding to a stop in front of his brother, Wu points the tip of the sword at him, "You'll have to take it from me!"
"My pleasure." The croaky voice of Samukai gains the shocked attention of Wu, who spins around to see the Skeleton General with the rest of the Golden weapons on his person.
The two start to circle each other slowly with the large skeleton backing Wu up towards the edge of the little island they were standing on. Feeling no rock beneath his feet, Wu turns his attention to behind him, which gives Samukai the chance to attack.
With a scream, Samukai goes to land a blow on the old man, only for Wu to dodge just in time. This continues for a few moments, Samukai throwing an attack just for the Spinjitzu Master to dodge. Finally, their weapons clash together, both putting force behind their blades.
Garmadon, who now sits on his throne, growls lowly. "Teach him a lesson."
~~~
Back with the team, they continue to huddle in closer towards each other, weapons still drawn high against the army around them.
"Any ideas? I'm still all ears!" Kai yells out above the grunts and groans of the army, grunting as he swipes at a warrior that got too close to him yet misses entirely.
Furrowing his eyebrows in thought, Jay gasps and turns towards Kai, waving his arms around as he tries to get out some words. Kai can only raise an eyebrow at the noises his friend lets out, muttering, "Huh?"
Cole tilts his head, trying to piece together the noises and formulate them into actual words. "You feel a weird sensation?"
Jay grunts out and shakes his head furiously, "N-o!"
"You ate an odd crustacean?" Zane furrows his eyebrows, not at all understanding Jays scratchy words.
"Where would he have even eaten that?" Alyssa mutters out, sending a confused glance in the white ninjas direction.
At this point, Jay was getting more agitated by the second. He tries again, his hood shifting as he speaks out in his strained voice again.
Kai gasps, raising an arm around wildly like he won something, "I got it. I got it! Two natives on vacation." He places his hands on his hips, a proud smirk probably on his lips that luckily the hood was hiding. "Huh?" He wiggles his eyebrows towards Jay, expecting his answer to be right.
"You are so dumb." Alyssa manages to groan out between kicking back a spider and dodging an attack.
"Hey!" Kai raises his voice, all cockiness being flushed down the drain as he points an accusing finger at her, "I don't see you giving any ideas on what the guy is saying!"
"At least I'm not spouting nonsense!" She fires back, annoyance painting her features despite the situation, "Like, come on dude! Two natives on a vacation. Really?"
Kai goes to fire something back when he jumps back in fight at Jays suddenly loud voice, "Tornado of CREATION!" The blue cladded ninja glares at them all as they all 'oh' quietly in sync.
Chuckling, Zane reaches over to pat Jay on the back with one of his silver shurikens. "Welcome back."
Finally coming to realise exactly what his friend had just suggested, Cole turns to stare at the rest of the team. "But it could lead to disastrous consequences."
Raising his sword, Kai points the weapon back towards the army that was beginning to close in on them, "We're about to HAVE a disastrous consequence."
"Let's do this." Cole narrows his eyes in determination, "Earth!" He calls out his respective element, his Spinjitzu forming around him as the skeletons in front of him back away in shock.
"Fire!" Kai was next, flames flickering around him as his own tornado comes to life.
"Ice!" Shards of ice flick out from Zane frosty Spinjitzu as it spins in place besides the others.
"Lightning!" Dark blue covers Jay, lightning forming from the base of his Spinjitzu to flash brightly up from the base.
"Spirit!" Lastly, a dark purple Spinjitzu takes over Alyssa's form. Within the dark color there are tiny hints of dark green smoke, grey and black matter, bright yellow and blue lightning and many other small specks of color.
Together, the tornados begins to merge into one much larger Spinjitzu that grows and grows, towering over the army that had once held them captive. "Ninja, go!"
Combined, their power begins to suck in everything it could reach. Spider creatures, skeletons and even the vehicles. The giant tornado begins to travel down a path, taking anything it touches with it until the ninja final part ways, breathing heavily.
Turning to look at their creation, they're met with a large Ferris-Wheel made out of bones. The carriages of the large ride holding skeletons behind its bars.
"I can't believe that worked." Alyssa stares wide-eyed at their creation, ignoring how Nuckal dropped his cotton candy 'where did he get that?' thanks to Kruncha punching him roughly.
Shaking his head, Kai turns back to the team with urgency, "Come on! There's no time to waste!"
Following his lead, the ninja descend down the same wooden spiral staircase their teacher had gone down, just in time to witness the fight happening between Samukai and Wu. The two clashing their Golden Weapons together, sparks flittering off to the sides with their force.
"Sensei!" Alyssa shouts, taking a hurried step forth with the others just to be met with Kai's arm to her chest. She narrows her eyes at the boy, clenching her teeth, "Kai. Move."
Kai only shakes his head, keeping his arms up to hold them all in place, "No, I'm sorry. This is Sensei's fight."
Alyssa knew that he was right, and she could only hold herself back as she watched her long time mentor fight for his life. Wu jumps back from an incoming attack from Samukai, landing safely a little distance away and sending a blast of fire towards the skeleton from the tip of the Sword of Fire. The attack misses and Samukai uses the Shurikens of Ice to freeze the sword to the ground.
Wu, who's hand was still clutching the frozen swords hilt, desperately tries to break free from the frozen prison. Chuckling, Samukai waves the Nunchucks of lightning around above his head before throwing a lightning attack at the old man, who manages to pry the sword from the ice just in time to dodge the lightning.
Letting out an enraged yell, the skeleton raises the Scythe of Quakes above him before bringing it down to split the ground into two large pieces that slowly began to break away at the edges. Wu goes to jump to the side, only to get knocked back when Samukai throws one of the shurikens at his stomach, the Sword of Fire clattering to the ground in front of the skeleton.
Chuckling, Samukai walks towards the sword, looking up smugly towards the fallen Sensei who could only watch on in horror.
"Bring me the Five Weapons." Garmadon orders, holding out a waiting hand towards the Skeleton General.
Samukai briefly looks back at Garmadon before picking up the Sword of Fire with a gleam of betrayal in his eyes. "No!" He turns around to point the sword in Garmadons direction, "You will obey me now!"
Garmadon laughs mockingly, throwing his head back as an invisible wind begins to rock the Golden Weapons in Samukai's grip while Sensei Wu rushes back over to his students, Alyssa carefully grabbing his upper arm in concern.
"No one can handle all of their power at once." Wu declares loudly for all to see, watching all weapons thrash in the skeletons grip and back.
"Selfish fool." Garmadon slams a fist down onto the armrest of his throne, "Did you think I wouldn't plan on your betrayal?"
The weapons continue to struggle, almost pulling Samukai's shoulders out of their sockets. "What's happening to me?" He manages to grit out between his teeth.
Garmadon could only smile in evil delight at the sight, "You've fallen right into my master plan. Not even I can handle all of their power!" He shoves a fist against his chest as everyone in the room watches on, "But now that they're combined, it'll create a vortex through space and time, allowing me to finally escape this ghastly place!"
"Uh-oh." Samukai mutters helplessly, the weapons lifting him into the air as he screams out in pain. A bright misty light flashes and his wails come to a silence as the Skeleton General is burst into nothing but ash, the weapons falling to the ground with a clang.
Catching everyones attention was a swirling white and blue vortex that appears behind Garmadon, the Warlord briefly marvelling at the portal.
Wu takes a few steps forward, his arms outstretched in a manner of peace almost. "Father would not want you to do this, Brother." He pleads, trying his best to stop the destruction that was to come.
The words only seem to anger Garmadon more as he sharply turns back to the group, a growl ripping through him, "Father is no longer here!" He watches them cover their eyes as the light from the portal grows brighter, "Good and evil, there has always been a balance. Where I go, the balance can be destroyed. Soon I will be strong enough to possess the Five Weapons, so I can recreate the world in my image!"
Garmadon turns his back to them, slowly walking into the vortex, only to pause and glance over his shoulder with an accusing glare pointed towards Wu, "You! You were always his favorite." He snarls one last time before entering through the portal to escape the Underworld.
The vortex closes, taking with it the light. When they deemed it safe to move, the ninja rush towards their weapons, each picking up their respective Golden Weapon with silence hanging over them.
Wu only frowns with his hands behind his back, "He is gone, but he will return." He sighs out, watching his students pick up their gear.
Kai brings his Sword of Fire up to his face with a glare, "Then we'll be ready for him."
The others nod, gripping their weapons tighter to their bodies. Cole runs a hand over the Scythes handle, "And keep an eye out in case he has any more of his evil plans."
Sensei Wu sweeps his eyes over the team, hands now placed on his hips. "Then I have done my part. The balance has been restored... for now."
~~~
In Ignacia, the once dark clouds that loomed high above the farm lands is chased away by a bright orange light, restoring the beauty of the land as farmers stare up at the sky in awe.
Inside the Four Weapons Blacksmith, Nya stands by a window sadly as a candle burns besides her. Out of nowhere, the light of the candle is blown out quickly and just as fast, large talons of Kai's fire dragon land just outside the window. Spotting him and the others, she gasps and calls his name, rushing out of the shop to run straight into Kai's arms for a tight hug.
"Hey!" Jay slides off the side of his Lightning dragon, "My turn!" He chuckles, opening his arms as Nya releases Kai to giggle and embrace the blue cladded boy as well.
"I'm surprised you're not beating Jay to a pulp." Alyssa muses as she walks up besides Kai after being helped down off the Ice dragon by Zane, a small grin on her lips as she crosses her arms.
Kai can only shrug in response, a smile of his own painting his features. "He can have his moment, he deserves it. We all do."
The cheering of victory from the farmers bring grins to the ninjas faces, the team huddling together as Nya looks from one person to the next, "I'm so happy you're back."
Kai chuckles lowly, looking down at the ground, "For now...but it's not over." He looks back up and towards the cheering farmers with a deep frown, "Lord Garmadon will return." Those words were enough to silence their cheering.
Cole, noticing their worried expressions, steps forward to wrap an arm around Kai's shoulders, "And we'll be ready for him!" Once again, the farmers cheer, having hope in the ninjas to defeat their greatest enemies.
Laughing, the team raise their weapons with a shout of their own, clashing the Golden Weapons together, only to cause a small explosion that knock them all back flat on their behinds.
Kai chuckles, slowly pushing himself up into a sitting position as he looks to them sheepishly, "Okay, we gotta remember not to do that again."
Cole groans as he gets up, "Good idea."
On the other hand, Alyssa was the one to push Jay up by the back, mainly since he had been knocked back into her. The ginger giving out a groan of his own, "Yeah, we'll stick to high-fives instead."
"Agreed." Alyssa and Zane reply back at the same time, the pair looking towards each other as the people around them laugh, though they too were soon to chuckle along, well, mainly Alyssa at Zanes confused glances.
"Was that a joke?" The white ninja asks in confusion, not understanding why everyone was laughing.
"Oh, don't worry honey." Alyssa giggles, gently ruffling up the blond's hair, "You'll get a sense of humour soon enough."
The laughing continues, innocent and carefree despite the many challenges that they would all face in the near future.
