The Golden Weapons

After noticing that he was surrounded, Kai attacks the Ninja in black, starting with throwing his toothbrush at one and shoving it into their mouth, only to have them spit it out and hit the other ninja in the head, giving Kai time to escape through the rooftop when he sees an opening, but the Ninja end up climbing after him and attacking the boy to the floor of the Monastery of Spinjitzu. Kai then turns on the training equipment to attack the other Ninja, knocking one of them down.

Sensei Wu must have heard the commotion as he comes running out, throwing the sliding doors open and hurrying up to the dog pile of people, "Stop! Enough!"

The four ninja in black instantly freeze and pull away from Kai, bowing respectfully at Wu, "Yes, Sensei."

Kai dusts himself off as he looks at the black wearing ninja, "Wait a minute, they're your students too?" He watches as Wu nods, his hands on the staff, "This was my final test, wasn't it?"

One of the black ninja looks to Kai before stepping forward towards Sensei, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! You never said anything about one more. It's always us four. Four Blind Mice, four Musketeers. Four-"

Another one, more feminine than the rest, shoves the talking one slightly, "Jay, that was all supposed to be three, not four." She rolls her eyes with a shake of her head.

The one next to her steps forward next, "Uh, what he's trying to say, Sensei Wu, is that four of us have trained together. We're solid."

Kai scoffs and crosses his arms, "Didn't look so solid to me."

Finally, the last black ninja to the end steps forward as well, "Master, what is the meaning of this?"

Wu walks forward to them slowly, "Each of you have been chosen. Each in tune with elemental properties." He looks at each of them before a small smirk makes its way to his face, "But first, Ninja, Go!"

A glowing golden tornado surrounds Sensei Wu as he uses his Spinjitzu to change the outfits of the five Ninja, a different color coating them as weapons appear in their hands.

A ninja still in black looks down at himself, "Whoa! How'd he do that?!" He gasps, picking at his gi.

A blue ninja was elated at his choice of colors, "Whoa! Look what color I am!"

The black ninja frowns to himself and looks to Wu, pointing to his gi, "Wait a minute, I'm still black."

Alyssa stands next to him, grinning and hugging her own body. "Purple! About time I got one myself!" She laughs and places her Katana at her side in its sheath.

Sensei Wu chuckles before standing in front of kai, "Kai, Master of Fire. It burns bright in you."

Kai only looks to Wu in silent confusion, looking over at everyone else to see what elements they have.

"Jay is blue. Master of Lightning." Wu smiles and places his staff on Jay's shoulder like he was honouring a knight.

Jay chuckles as he looks to the others, a glint in his eyes, "Heh, that's not all I'm the master of. I do a little inventing. A dabble in model building. A touch of cooking. A little poetry."

"More like mouth of lightning." The one in black grumbles, eyeing the blue boy.

Wu then placed his staff on Cole's shoulder, "Black Ninja is Cole. Solid as rock. Master of Earth."

Cole smirks and twists his scythe in his hands as he looks to the new member, "Nice to meet you, kid. I got your back, and for the record, there ain't nothing in this world I'm afraid of." He puffs out his chest proudly.

Zane clears his throat, "Except for dragons."

"Dragons?" Alyssa snorts softly into her hand.

Cole groaned in annoyance and turned to Zane, "Dragons aren't from this world, Zane. I said in this world."

Wu walks over to the said ninja and places the staff on his shoulder, "White Ninja is Zane. Master of Ice. And seer with sixth sense."

Kai raises an eyebrow, "I sense this one takes things a little too seriously." He chuckles as Jay nods besides him.

Zane furrows his eyebrows and looks to Kai, not at all getting the joke, "You too have the gift?"

Jay lets out a laugh and pats Zane's shoulder, "He's just making a joke, Zane. Remember what we talked about? Your sense of humor? Huh?"

Zane, in a sarcastic voice almost replies with, "Yes, it was a joke. Haha."

Jay only shakes his head in slight disappointment as Wu walks over to Alyssa, the staff now on her shoulder, "And finally, Alyssa. Purple Ninja of Spirit."

"Sensei." Alyssa smiles and bows slightly. As she rises, she turns to glance at her new team, "You guys have a lot to learn."

Wu taps the staff against the ground, "Pay attention! You five are the chosen ones who will protect the five weapons of Spinjitzu from Lord Garmadon.

Kai blinks before frowning, "But what about my sister?!"

Jay gasps excitedly, "We're saving a girl? Is she hot?"

Cole sends a pointed look to his friend, "Jay!"

Jay scratches his neck with a nervous laugh, "I-I just wanna know what we're getting ourselves into. I mean, not that you aren't hot and all—" He looks sheepishly at Alyssa who glares at him.

Jay then scoots slightly closer to Kai, "Does she like blue?" He asks, not even attempting to whisper.

Kai growls in protectiveness of his little sister, "Back off!"

Wu interrupts the pair, "When we find the weapons, we will find your sister. It is time! We must go to the first weapon."

Cole shakes his head and steps towards the old man, an eyebrow raised, "Whoa! Hold on a minute. You said you were gonna teach us Spinjitzu!"

Wu points at each ninja with his staff, "Spinjitzu is inside each and every one of you, but it will only be unlocked if the key is ready to be found." The old man pauses for a moment before speaking once again, " Come! My feet are tired. We will take the horse carriage."

Cole sighs and rubs his face, "Great." He mumbles tiredly.

Jay scoffs and looks to the rest of the new team, "Now we have to find the key?"

Cole rolls his eyes slightly, annoyance laced in his next words, "Yeah, I'm feeling like he's taking us for a ride."

Kai takes a step forward, his eyebrows furrowed as a small scowl sets on his lips, "Well, if it means finding my sister, then sign me up."

The next day, the five Ninja pull the horse carriage which Sensei Wu is sitting on as they travel to the Caves of Despair to retrieve the first Golden Weapon. Alyssa and Cole at the front and Zane, Jay and Kai up the very back.

Jay speaks in a high tone, mocking Kai as he sends a look the fire ninjas way, "'Sign me up.'"

"Way to go, spark plug." Cole snapped, a tired groan leaving his mouth.

"I sense this is some strange form of team-building." Zane pants out as they all run, not as tired as the rest are.

Cole sighs and grips the bamboo he was holding harder, "Just keep pulling. We have a long way to go."

"So," Kai starts with a pant, "Where did Sensei find you guys?"

Cole was finally able to look back at the boy, an eyebrow raised as he looks everyone over, "Let's just say if it wasn't for Sensei Wu, I don't think we'd ever been seen together." He looks back to the front, imagining the time on the mountain where he found Wu sipping tea causally, "I was testing my limits."

Jay was next to speak up, "I was testing my invention." The boy could already think back on the time where he was testing out one of his gliders, only to crash through a billboard and find Wu drinking tea behind it.

Zane smiles to himself behind his mask, "I was testing myself." Zane pictures himself back in the day where he was meditating in frozen water where he almost drowns after noticing Wu beside him... drinking tea.

"I was just a poor kid digging through his garbage." Alyssa laughs sheepishly, picturing her old self who was only dressed in rags.

Kai takes a breath of air before talking, his lungs having a hard time, "You're right, if it weren't for Sensei, none of us would have-"

"Shh...Stop!" Wu interrupts which makes everyone quickly halt in their footsteps, "The Caves of Despair. Samukai must be close to unearthing the Scythe of Quakes. Remember, do not use the weapon. For its power–"

He was quickly cut off by Jay who waves a dismissive hand, "Yeah, yeah, yeah! It's too much for us mortals. Alright, guys. Let's chop-socky this lemonade stand! Cole, you got the plan?"

"Sure do. First, we lower ourselves down the ledge. And then—" Cole pauses, quickly doing a head count of the team before realisation hits him, "--Where's Kai?"

The team of ninja quickly scan their surroundings, looking for a certain spikey haired ninja. Alyssa groans, "Down there!" She points towards the ground level where Kai was shown hiding behind some large rocks. "If he screws this all up..." She mutters.

Cole groans, "Ugh, let's go." He grumbles under his breath as the rest of the ninja ditch their plan and proceed to Kai's route instead.

Lucky for Kai, they were also there to clean up his mess when one of the Skulkin warriors spot him. The group of ninja were quick to attack the skeleton as quietly as they could, not wanting it to alert the other warriors of their presence.

Spotting the map from the hole on the roof of the guard tower, Kai grins to himself only to be smacked upside the head by Alyssa who glares daggers at him after she and the rest of the team had climbed up the same tower. The red ninja holds back his noises of pain, rubbing the sore spot on his head.

"What's the matter with you?" Jay hisses, also giving him another slap on the head. Kai growls lowly and brings a finger to his mouth, silently telling him to quiet down.

The team huddle closer together, intensely watching Samukai as he studies the map with a laugh. Stupidly, he leaves the map on the table before walking off. Squinting, Jay notices something and was quick to point it out, "It's upside down! They're digging in the wrong spot!"

"Makes sense," Alyssa snorts into her gloved palm. "Skeletons have no brains, so it's no surprise they're this stupid."

Zane narrows his eyes and pulls out one of his shurikens, "The golden weapon is near." Skilfully, the white ninja lines up his weapon with the map before throwing it through the hole of the roof. Yanking the string back towards him, he grabs the map off the shuriken and hands it to Kai next to him all without Samukai noticing.

Barely giving the rest of the team time to study the map with him, Kai nods to himself, "There's no time to waste." The others simply watch in annoyance as he backflips off the roof of the tower, taking off without his team once again.

"What is with that guy?" Jay shakes his head with a grumble, glaring off after the brunette, "Always in a rush." He grumbles.

"It's like he thinks he's better than the rest of us." The voice of Alyssa scoffs to mainly herself, though she wouldn't have cared much if the others had heard her little comment.

As the team sneak past the guards after their lone team member, Kai tries to push a boulder out of the way with a lot of difficulty. The sound of Cole's voice catches his attention as they walk up behind him.

"Hey!" The black ninja hisses quietly, a deadly glare plastered on his face, "Before you race off again, you need to remember that we're a team." He reminds him, placing his hands against the rough surface of the boulder with everyone else.

"Yeah, whatever." Kai mutters with a grunt as the group of ninja push the boulder aside. Dusting off their hands, they enter inside of the caves to marvel at the Scythe of Quakes.

"Whoa! This is so cool!" The voice of an excited Jay travels throughout the cave in an echo, the blue ninja twirling around to get a better look at the place. He nearly shouts in surprise as Alyssa shushes him loudly next to him.

"Not so loud!" Cole shakes his head at his friends carelessness, making his way towards the golden weapon. He reaches out and grips his scythe tightly before placing it inside of a cloth.

"Oh, come on." Jay's voice continues to echo as he rolls his eyes, "Don't be so paranoid, we're totally on the opposite side of the caves."

Rolling her eyes, Alyssa raises an eyebrow towards Jay, "You do know we're ninja, right? We're supposed to be quiet."

"Oh." Was all she was responded with, Jay finally having gone quiet for a few seconds as he pondered over her words.

Sighing, Cole tosses the cloth covered golden weapon to Kai. "Just, zip it, okay? Now that we've got the scythe, let's sneak out while those boneheads are still busy." With the silent agreement of the others, they begin to head out of the room, unknown of the dangers arising.

Turning his head around to face the team over his shoulder, Cole stared them all in the eye, "Alright, team. Everyone stick together. The way out is right around the corner." As if jinxing himself, a few steps towards the exit and there Samukai stood with his army.

"Great." Was all that left Alyssa's mouth before the battle began.

The sound of weapons hitting bone echoes around the caves, shouts from both sides of the army being yelled out. Most of the skeletons were being taken out easily by Alyssa, as she was the only one so far to learn Spinjitzu. The others weren't having such an easy time.

Not far from her was Kai, who was doing his best to defend himself despite the amount of Skulkin backing him up into a corner. "You know," He pants out, backing up further into the corner, "this would be so much easier if someone could just tell us how to do Spinjitzu!" He roughly shouts out, punching another random skeleton that got too close.

"You have to learn on your own!" Already knowing that the demand was directed towards her, Alyssa ducked away from an attack from a soldier, "I did as well, but you know the moves! Think about it!"

"Kai!" Zane calls out the the red ninja, noticing the tough spot he was in, "Throw the weapon over here!" With his arms outstretched, the white ninja easily caught the weapons.

Golden weapon in his arms, Zane turns towards Cole and with a nod form the other ninja, he threw the weapons towards Cole who caught them with a huff.

"There's too many of them!" Kai shouts out, easily getting surrounded by the army.

"Let me handle it!" It was Jay to the rescue, it seemed. While fighting away at the army, the familiar feeling of training races through his body. Laughing to himself, he calls out to the rest of the team, "Hey, guys! It's just like the training course! Over the planks! Dodge the sword! Here comes the dummy!"

His cheering is drowned out by the sound of the skeletons being flung everywhere by his Spinjitzu. The blue electricity snapping and crackling to life around him in a tornado of power, slicing through the army like butter.

Laughing along with him, Alyssa blocks an incoming attack to grin towards Jay, "You got it, Jay! You got it!" She praises with glee. Out of all of them, Jay was not her first pick in guessing who would be the first to learn the secret of Spinjitzu.

Kai was trying to figure out exactly what he missed, "Jay, what's the key?!"

"I'm just going through the motions!" Jay giggles excitedly, "This is what Sensei and Alyssa must have meant when they said we already knew it!"

"Over the planks, dodge the sword!" Kai mutters, beginning to get the hang of things, "and here comes the dummy!" He finishes, a fiery red tornado flickering with flames burst brightly around him.

Once everyone had understood the technique, the cave was lit with multiple shades of colors, shadows dancing off the rocks. Knowing that they were no match against them now and not to mention what was towering over the ninja, Samukai growls and raises one of his swords, "Retreat!"

Moving quickly, the skeleton army picks up their wounded and dazed before rushing away from the ninja team, shrieks being left in their dust. Standing together now, Cole raises his arms with a laugh, "Ha! Guess they didn't want a second serving of these babies." He kisses both of his biceps.

"Please, stop." Kai groans behind him, throwing his head back, Jay and Alyssa nodding slowly in agreement with him.

Grinning to himself, Cole continues to serve his lame punchlines, "Good thing they didn't check out the merchandise in the back." He turns around and pauses for a moment, shock coating his previous expression with what was behind the team.

"Ignoring what was just said," Jay chuckles, ignoring Cole's sudden silence and elbowing Kai next to him, "We did it! We got the weapon!"

"All right!" Kai laughs with a cheer, fist-pumping the air in victory, which is about to be short lived.

Cole, who was still in shock, mumbles out a quiet, "Uh...guys...?"

Furrowing his eyebrows, Zane turns his gaze to the team, "Didn't Sensei say there was a guardian protecting the weapon?" With that being said, everyone turned around and instantly froze at the sight in front of them.

Cole's teeth could almost be heard chattering as he stutters out, "Is that a—? That's not what I think it is, is it?"

"You mean a dragon?" Jay replies quickly with a weak laugh, already taking a step back and preparing to take off.

Kai quickly adds in, "That sure looks like a dragon."

Zane decides that this was a good moment to bring up their impending doom, "I sense we won't be able to spin our way out of this one." His monotone voice was enough to snap Alyssa out of her daze, who blinks before grabbing the shirt of Zane with a loud, "I sense you're absolutely right, run!" She shrieks, yanking the white ninja as she and the others turn around and sprint the other way just as the dragon spits out dirt and sand at them.

"I thought dragons weren't from this world!" Cole shrieks out, rolling to the side and just missing getting blasted by the earth.

They don't get far as the dragon dashes towards them, a mighty roar leaving its unhinged jaw. From the corner of his eye, Jay spots Kai unwrapping the golden weapon from their cloth, "No, no, Kai! Bad idea! Sensei told us not to!"

"Then you better keep your mouth shut!" Kai snaps back at him, rushing forward to stand in front of the dragon with the Golden Scythe in hand.

"You're going to get yourself killed!" Alyssa screams out to him, but her words fall on deaf ears. She groans and takes cover by a large boulder.

Cole watches as Kai is charges towards the Earth Dragon with the Scythe raised above his head, "Kai! Don't!"

Just like moment ago, Kai ignores the shouts from his team and slams the Scythe down into the ground in front of the dragons large claws. A large crack begins to form on the ceiling, causing a giant boulder to fall from the roof and crash itself onto one of the dragons large wings, trapping it for a few moments.

As the cave shakes and begins to collapse, the ninja use this spare second to run while the dragon was down. "We need to escape!" Kai shouts, rushing up to the others with harsh breaths.

"Up there!" Pointing upward, Alyssa gestures to a hole in the ceiling that looked like it was just wide enough for them to get through.

"We'll use Spinjitzu!" Cole nods to the team who don't hesitate to agree. Activating their unique Spinjitzu, they climb up rocks and dodge falling boulders before escaping through the hole, leaving the Earth Dragon behind, trapped and alone.

Finally on safe ground and dragon free, most of the team laughs and boasts about their daring escape.

"That was so awesome!" Cole jumps in the spot, fist clenched as adrenaline courses through his system.

Kai grips the scythe as he laughs along with the others, "Yes! We are so unbelievable!"

Zane simply nods beside him, a small smile on his lips, "We are the best!"

"Did you see that?! I was like "pow"! And you were like "bam"!" Throwing fake punches and kicks, Jay spins around with a shout.

The only silent one was Alyssa, who pursed her lips and stood with crossed arms. She was the only one who could spot the infuriated look on her Sensei's face, and she's dealt with that same expression countless of times. She knew they were in for a scolding.

Wu decides to break their little celebration with a shout, his eyes narrowed, "Enough!" All five Ninja pause and pay attention to their Sensei, who shakes his head in disappointment, "I told you not to use the Golden Weapon!"

"He did it." Jay doesn't hesitate to throw Kai under the bus, an accusing finger pointed towards the red ninja.

Kai frowns, "What?" He glares back at Jay before looking back towards his Sensei in disbelief.

"I warned him, Sensei." Cole shakes his head, his own arms crossing over his chest.

"Using it was my only option!" Kai defends himself loudly, surprise clear in his tone.

Wu's grip on his staff tightens, trying his best to keep his voice at bay, "And what makes you think you're more important than the team, huh? Huh?"

"They took my sister, remember?!" Kai shoots back, eye narrowed.

Sighing, Wu shakes his head and turns his back on the team, "There are still four weapons left. Maybe next time you can do it right." He mutters, walking away from the guilty team who all slowly follow after him.

Meanwhile, in the Underworld, Samukai begs Lord Garmadon for forgiveness after his utter failure at getting the first Golden Weapon.

Bowing in front of the shadow in front of him, Samukai doesn't dare meet the Lord's dark eyes, "Master, I have failed you. They have learned Spinjitzu and they have the Scythe."

It was silent for a second before the sound of Lord Garmadon's chuckles echo around the room. "Good." He drawls, ignoring the shock that spread across Samukai's face, "Then my brother was there."

Samukai scrambles to stand up straight, a new plan in mind to please the Lord and gain his forgiveness, "If I can gather my army, then we can easily ambush them at the—"

Lord Garmadon cuts Samukai off quickly, "No. Let them think they're winning."

Looking towards the ground, Samukai tries to put the pieces together, "But— I do not understand." He says slowly, finally looking up to see the shadow tower above him.

"Everything is going to plan." Lord Garmadon chuckles, which was enough to have Samukai laughing along with him.
