A Story Ends, Another One Begins

His gaze danced across the stadium, the one that he had won his life back in until they rested on the elite suite. There, in the box, were all his friends, screaming their hearts out for him. In the back, was his honey blonde-haired, blue-eyed angel looking at him, with a smile adorning her face. He felt a wave of relaxation spread across his body, as their eyes met.

He turned back, as the roars of the crowds introduced the reigning Kalos Champion, Diantha. She rose, from her platform, with a smile, stretching across her face. She expanded a Pokéball in her hand.

"Well Ash," Diantha began. "you've defeated my Elite Four, but this battle is going to be on a completely different level! I hope you're ready!"

Ash smiled back, with a Pokéball in his hand. "I've been dreaming about this day for my whole life." He looked to Pikachu and Lucario; each had a smile on their faces. "You two ready?"

"Pikachu pi!" Pikachu yelled.

"Let's do it!" Lucario answered.

Ash took one last look at Serena and smiled, as he saw her beaming appearance. He was now ready. He turned back and grasped his Pokéball firmly.

"Charizard! I choose you!"

Out of the Pokeball, came Ash's loyal fire-type Pokemon, who lets out a mighty roar that shook the whole stadium. The crowd cheer upon the arrival of Charizard, who was anxious to start battling.

The Kalos Champion wasn't imitated by the sight of Ash's Charizard. All she did was smile as she unclicks one of her Pokeballs.

"I see you're starting strong, Ash," said Diantha. "How come?"

"The stronger the opponent, the stronger we should battle." said a confident Ash. "After all, I am battling against the Kalos Champion. Am I wrong?"

"Nope," responded Diantha. "You're not wrong. However, let's just see how strong that confidence is when you two go up against my Tyrantrum!

The champion threw her Pokeball up into the air. The light came out of the Pokeball. When it faded away, it revealed a bipedal, dinosaurian Pokémon that resembles a large theropod. It is predominantly brownish red with scaly patterns on its skin and scattered orange highlights on some scales and ridges. Its head is proportionately large with a blunt, ridged snout and powerful jaws. It has black around its eyes and a light gray lower jaw covered by a beard of white, primitive feathers. Several sharp teeth are visible in the lower jaw, while the upper jaw is lined with orange-tipped, tooth-like projections. Over its eyes is a row of five spikes resembling a crown. Around Tyrantrum's neck is a feathery white ruff that extends over its shoulders similar to a cape. Its underbelly is gray with white borders and there are two orange spikes near the tip of its long tail. Its small forelimbs have only two black-clawed digits each, but it has powerful hind legs with three black claws each. Plated, armor-like ridges cover its knees, back, and the top of its tail.

The Despot Pokemon roared mightly as the crowd begins to cheer even louder. They know the most anticipated battle was about to begin.

"Are you finally ready for this, Ash?" asked Diantha, even though she already knew his answer.

"I have been waiting to battle you, ever since I won the Kalos League, many years ago!" Ash answered back.

With that, the referee announces the battle will begin now. Ash makes his first move.

"Charizard, use Dragon Pulse!" commanded Ash.

From his mouth, Charizard fires a multicolored dragon-shaped beam of energy towards the Despot Pokémon, who does not seem to be attempting to dodge the incoming Dragon type attack.

Diantha grins as she gives Tyrantrum an order. "Tyrantrum! Use Crunch! Eat that Dragon Pulse!"

Just as the Dragon Pulse attack got closer to the Despot Pokemon, Tyrantrum opens his huge mouth, and then, bites down on the dragon-shaped beam of energy as if it was a sandwich. This move shocked Ash as he didn't expect Tyrantrum to eat the Dragon-type attack, which would have been super effective against it.

"Master," Lucario said after watching that happened. "Did our opponent just do what I think it did?"

"Yes, Lucario," Ash answered the Aura Pokemon's question. "It just ate our Dragon Pulse attack."

Diantha gives a small smile. "You're going to have to do better than that, Ash. Dark Pulse now!"

Tyrantrum opens its mouth and then a light purple and purple colored aura forms inside of it. It then fires black and purple circles from the aura inside its mouth at the Fire-type Pokemon.

"Flamethrower!" Ash counters.

Charizard releases a red-orange stream of fire from its mouth towards the incoming dark type attack. The two attacks collided, causing an explosion to appear at the center of the battlefield. Using the smoke as cover, Ash calls out his next attack.

"Charizard, use Brick Break now!" Ash orders his Flame Pokemon.

Charizard then quickly flies across the field with one of his fists glowing bluish-white, hoping to land a blow to the Despot Pokemon. However, Diantha saw this coming, so she proceeds to give Tyrantrum the necessary commands for it to do, to avoid getting hit by the super-effective Fighting type move.

"Alright, jump, and then use Crunch on Charizard's tail!" commanded Diantha.

Following her instructions, the Despot Pokemon jumps at the last second before Charizard could land a hit on it. Then, Tyrantrum bites down on the Flame Pokemon's tail, causing Charizard to let out a cry of pain. Ash was surprised by this turn of events.

"Now then," Diantha said, before giving her Pokemon new instructions. "Slam Charizard to the ground!"

Tyrantrum lifts Charizard into the air, while still biting down on the Flame Pokemon's tail, before letting it go and slamming it down to the ground. The impact caused a big dust cloud to cover the area where Charizard landed.

"Charizard!" Ash called out. "Are you alright?!"

When the dust settled, Charizard appeared to be standing up as it let out a roar, which shows that it was still raring to go. Ash breathes a sigh of relief upon seeing his loyal Flame Pokemon can continue battling.

We have to do something about that Crunch attack...Hmmmm Ash was deep in his thoughts when all of a sudden, an idea came into his head. That's it!

He gives a small grin, which catches Diantha off caught. She quickly regains her composure as she awaits Ash to call out his next move.

"Alright, Charizard, use Dragon Pulse!" commanded Ash.

Charizard then proceeds to fire the multicolored dragon-shaped beam of energy towards the Despot Pokémon.

Why is he using that move again? A puzzled Diantha thought before giving her order. "Tyrantrum, use Crunch to eat that Dragon Pulse!"

Once again, Tyrantrum bites down on the Dragon Pulse; but suddenly, Charizard appears in front of the surprised Despot Pokemon, and then, hits the Pokemon with one of his fists that was glowing bluish-white. The attack sent Tyrantrum flying and causing it to land on its back while letting out a roar of pain. The Despot Pokemon slowly got back on its feet as it angrily stares at the Flame Pokemon standing across from it.

Diantha groans out of frustration before calling out her next attack. "Tyrantrum! Use Head Smash!"

Tyrantrum's body becomes surrounded by a whitish-blue aura, making it seem black and white, and it shoots at Charizard with its head pointed at it, slamming into it with its head.

Ash grins, which made the Kalos Champion realize she has just made a big error. Ash then proceeds to give Charizard his next set of instructions to counter the Head Smash.

"Here we go, Charizard! Spin while using Steel Wing!" shouted Ash.

Both of Charizard's wings started glowing white as it starts to spin endlessly while flying towards his charging opponent. Thanks to the spin technique, Charizard avoids colliding with the Head Smash and lands a direct hit onto the Despot Pokemon, who cries out in pain.

"Oh no!" said Diantha, who is surprised by Ash's combo move.

"Now," Ash said while giving Charizard the final command. "Finish it off by using double Brick Break!"

Both of Charizard's fists were glowing bluish-white as one fist punch underneath Tyrantrum's jaw, which sends it flying up into the air. Then, Charizard quickly flies behind the Despot Pokemon and then punches its back so hard that it causes Tyrantrum to fall quickly back down to the ground. That rough landing causes dust clouds to cover over where the Despot Pokemon had landed. Once the dust settled, it revealed an unconscious Tyrantrum. Charizard unleashes a red-orange stream of fire from his mouth, with a happy grin on his face, celebrating his hard-earned victory to the sound of the crowd cheering for the Flame Pokemon.

"Awesome! We won the first battle, Charizard!" Ash yelled, congratulating his loyal Fire-type Pokemon.

"Pika pika!" Pikachu exclaimed, also congratulating his Pokemon friend for winning the first battle.

"Yeah, you did good, Charizard." said a smiling Lucario. "But let's not forget that the battle has only begun."

"You're right, Lucario." Ash agreed with the Aura Pokemon as he returns Charizard to his Pokeball for a well-deserved rest. "The battle has just only started and I have a feeling it's only going to get tougher as we go on."
