32. Mehendi

A part of being alive is feeling alive and while I was trying be a better lady in the palace my heart was still struggling to understand how was I ever going to compete with Sufiya. She was the epitome of beauty and grace and she used it to charm Ahaan and almost murder his entire family. Ahaan was still under her spell after three years of her death, even Samar was not able to give him any hint of being Sufiya's sister. Beauty can blind a human but Ahaan was not just any human, he was the most stupid human I ever met and there was no doubt he was going to be in her trap for a long time. The Wedding rituals had begun, again. It was the third time I was going to get married to the same guy and I was expecting a lot more trouble than the previous times.

But where there's trouble, there's Madeeha to the rescue! She had come up with the Idea of getting us secretly married a few days before the actual date to disguise anyone who could try to ruin the wedding. She loved to play these little tricks and her little twins also loved to behave this way. And the third one that was about to come into the world as well. Yep, she was pregnant, again.

I got married to Ahaan in a weird ceremony a day back. Only the family members and the priest was a part of the ceremony and obviously that idiot Ahaan too. I dressed up in a sea blue lehenga while he dressed up in the same color textured Sherwani. Ahaan was the kind of person who would just fool around all the time. He was almost back to normal. He would go around troubling Madeeha and Humairah, keep annoying Ruman and Ravish and obviously train the little kids to be like him. I was sitting in my room after applying the Hena (Mehendi) while everyone was playing and having fun downstairs.
"You do realise sitting still will not help it get dried earlier?" Ahaan said standing at the door.
"I'm really sleepy so you better stop bothering me." I threatened yawning.
"Aww, look at you, so manly." Ahaan laughed.
"Whatever." I said rolling my eyes. He looked around and crunching his nose said,
"That's not how you talk to your husband."
"Yeah, you would know better. You sure do have a lot of husbands already." I laughed.
He faked laughter and sat beside me on the bed.
"On a serious note Begum, we really need to start behaving like husband and wife." Ahaan whispered leaning closer to me.
"I'm afraid that's the part we need to work on the most." I replied pushing him away using my index finger.
"You're crazy." He said chuckling as he placed his head in my lap taking me by surprise.
"What are you doing?" I asked trying to get away but my hands were still wet with Hena. I was ready to have him annoy me but I wasn't ready to ruin it.
"I'm thinking." He mumbled.
"Then think on a pillow, get away." I pouted.
"Stop moving." He commanded closing his eyes.
"Ahaan, get away. I'm telling you I'll kill you. What if somebody walks in?" I reasoned trying to escape.
"Who dares to disturb the Crown Prince of Zohrab when he is with his wife? Technically, I'm your husband so you really don't have to worry about anyone, plus I have Madeeha's twins guarding the door." He smiled getting comfortable.
"You're going to ruin her kids completely. I'm afraid what will you do with your own kids." I blurted. Well, when I come to think of it, that surely is a concerning issue.
"I'm glad at least you think we'll have kids. Else with the pace we are going, I was thinking I'll be growing grey hair before I get to see you make a move on me."
He chuckled.
"Excuse me? Are you trying provoke me?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
"Maybe. You can put it that way too." He said snuggling.
"You better stop moving. Just because I can't use my hands doesn't mean you can do whatever you want." I mumbled trying to hide my blush.
"I don't plan on taking advantage but if you keep talking I might lose my patience. Besides, it's still a day before we get married in front of the world. Then I can actually do whatever I want." He smirked finally opening his eyes.
"Stop daydreaming, Your Grace. I'm not an easy target." I teased.
"I never liked easy targets." He said before literally disappearing from my sight as Madeeha entered my room.
"I heard Ahaan's voice?" Madeeha asked in confusion.
"Don't mention that idiot already. I can't believe I'm going to face him everyday as my husband from tomorrow. That moron would be all ready with his tricks and plans to jumble my life." I sighed distracting her.
"Don't think like that. He'll be a fine husband." Madeeha said keep her hand on my shoulder.
"How do you know?" I asked. She side hugged me providing what I needed the most, Emotional Support.
"I just know it. He recognized you when nobody could while you're disguising as Humair's wife. I think it wouldn't be a big deal for him. He protects his subjects like his own kids because they are going to be his duty, his responsibility just think how he'll treat you." She said smiling.
"He'll treat you like a rabbit treats his carrots." Ahaan said jumping out of the curtains. I had no clue he was hiding there.
"What?" I asked.
"He'll treat you like a bear hunting a fish. He'll revenge you for all those sour Kheers and he'll revenge you for all those times you've troubled him. He'll make your life a living hell, the way you made his." He said leaning on to my face scaring the life out of my soul.
"Aaah!" I pushed him away using both my hands ruining his shirt with the Hena on my palms.
"What are you doing here?" Madeeha asked.
"You ruined my Hena!" I yelled.
"You ruined my shirt!" He yelled back.
"You bitch!" I growled.
"You Witch!" He growled back.
Madeeha stared at us cursing each other like kids before I picked up my pillow and attacked him.
"You're going to make my life a living hell? You dare say that!" I warned him.
"God damn it Woman! Control your emotions." He said avoiding the pillow with his hands.
"You're painting the pillow!" He added reminding me about my already ruined Hena. I threw the pillow away and sat on the bed folding my legs while my frowned face stretched to the bedsheets.
"What's going on here?" Rehana mom asked entering the room.
"Your daughter in law is bullying me." Ahaan said hiding behind her.
"Yeah right, I'm bullying him and I made this whole mess out of my room, I ruined my own precious Hena, I ruined his shirt and I was the one who came to the room I was prohibited to enter." I complained.
"Ahaan, why do you keep troubling her? Madeeha, what happened?" Rehana mom asked.
"Reality happened. I don't know how are they both going to live together. Did you both ever consider you were going to get trapped for the rest of your lives together and you seriously cannot just keep troubling each other all the time." Madeeha scolded reminding us, we really were doomed.
"Forget it. You are no longer kids to behave this way. Marriage is not a game and I hope you understand that." Rehana mom said storming out of the room with Madeeha. Ahaan was forced to follow them while I sat and pondered on what just happened. If I look at it in the way mother was looking at it, this matter was a lot concerning. But the reality was, since childhood none of my good things began without Ahaan ruining stuff, leaving his imprint. How could my Mehendi ceremony be complete without him disturbing things? How could I have a good start of my married life without Ahaan leaving his imprints?
