30. All about new chances
Ahaan's face didn't lose its shine but Humair did had a frowned expression. To be honest Ahaan had always been this way, he never really cared for anything, he was not always serious about anything. Humair on the other hand was always the good one, and yet again, I felt for the bad one.
"Ahaan?" I called out his name after getting no response from him. He was standing still with a blank face without even blinking his eyes. I slowly pulled my hand back and turned towards Humair.
"Where are you going?" I asked him when I saw him leave.
"It took you just few seconds to disown the person you love because he committed terrible mistakes, I'm the one who is clumsier, what if I end up hurting you even more? I'm pretty sure you won't disown me." He said with a smile.
"You'll kill me." He gave a faint laugh.
"Its not like that Humair. I would never hurt you. I might not agree to marry him but I wouldn't agree to marry you as well. I can't afford to ruin what we both share." I said.
"Besides, he hasn't uttered a single word and seems to be not at all bothered with my rejection." I added pouting.
"Ahaan Khan never gets rejected." Humair said as Ahaan began to walk away smirking.
"What?" I asked looking at my hand.
"You Moron!" I screamed on top of my voice staring at the ring he had secretly placed in my ring finger.
"Ahaan!" I yelled again.
"Yes, my love? What can I do for you, my dear fiancee?" Ahaan teased returning towards him. Humair was sad yet he was laughing along with him.
"I never said yes!" I pouted trying to remove the ring.
"No, you didn't." He replied laughing.
"Then why?" I asked still trying to remove the ring.
"The ring was so tempted by your finger, it itself got slipped and it turns out its gonna be stuck for some good time now." He said with a wide smile on his face.
"But does my rejection not matter to you at all?" I asked grinning.
"It does, my lady. That's why I was already prepared. Plus, I'm going to convince you to marry me somehow, so why waste such a beautiful ring and proposal." He winked.
"Ahana, my offer is still valid." Humair pouted.
"I hate you both." I glared at them before leaving the hospital with a driver.
I returned back home to find Ahaan standing at the doors of the palace.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"Nothing, just curious of how the family will react once they see you wearing that ring." He smiled.
I didn't give him an answer and walked before him inside the palace. Weirdly, a smile did escape my lips as well.
"They're back." Humaira said rushing towards the door.
"How is she?" Ahaan's mom asked.
"Samar is not doing much well. The doctors say it's going to be a tough battle between her and life." Ahaan replied.
"Its true, we pay for everything we did in the same life." She said hugging Ahaan.
"Did Ahana agree?" She mumbled quiet loud for me to hear.
"Check her hands." Ahaan whispered.
Great, the whole palace was involved. I bet this was Madeeha's idea.
"Thank God! I thought you were going to reject this idiot. I'm so glad you gave us another chance. I'm so sorry sweetheart." Rehana aunt said hugging me.
"Aunt, you're mistaken. Your idiot tricked me." I pouted. Her face turned puzzled. She looked at Ahaan who was already looking everywhere but at her.
"What did he do?" Grandpa asked appearing from nowhere.
"Nothing, I took inspiration from you." Ahaan replied.
"Come again?" Grandpa asked out of confusion.
"Well, I used the same trick that you used to convince Grandma to marry you. Madeeha gave me the idea." He blurted pointing at her. I knew it!
"Because he was crying on phone like anything. Rudeeha couldn't sleep the whole night because of him. Every 2 minutes I would receive a phone call asking me what if Ahana says no? What if I get rejected? I didn't had a choice." Madeeha defended herself.
"You are selling my name again?" Grandpa scolded Ahaan.
"I knew she would say no, and I knew Humair wanted to propose her as well, I didn't want to take any chance, so I kind of used it." Ahaan pretended to cry hugging him.
"Nonsense." Grandpa slapped him playfully.
"But on a serious note, I want to know it from you, will you give him a second chance to mend his mistakes? He is an idiot and a moron, but whatever he is, he is yours first." Grandpa asked reminding me that it was somewhere true, what ever Ahaan he was, an idiot or a moron, first he was mine. I looked at his eyes who were still busy playing with emotions. They were not promising me much except for the fact, that said they loved me. They said he did belonged to me. I looked back at Grandpa and giving him a smile simply nodded. Second chances are with considering especially in love. Everyone at the palace rejoiced. The ladies hugged me one by one and Ahaan kept on being the stubborn stud and taking all the credits for convincing me. I tried to find a glint of fakeness on his face but it was all true happiness, my idiot had really fallen for me. I hugged Madeeha and my eyes met Ahaan's. He slowly winked at me and mouthed "Thank you."
To my dismay, I blushed after years and that to on this idiot's words. Perhaps, in the end I was meant to be his.
The palace decided to clear the confusion to the media so they wanted to hold up an engagement party which I denied. I didn't want anymore commotion, everytime something more or less dangerous was happening. I went back to my room, took a shower and changed into some decent clothes. It's been so long since I wore these colorful dresses and didn't cover my face. I tightened my hair into a pulled up bun and put on light makeup. I was putting on a dark nude lampshade when somebody knocked at the door. I knew it was the maidens Madeeha had sent in so I told them to enter on their own.
"Pass me that scarf, the blue one." I said without bothering to look at them.
She gave me the scarf but it wasn't blue.
"I said blue." I said returning it to her without looking at her.
She passed another scarf and it was the same one.
"Blue!" I said turning towards her. My heartbeat stopped as I sensed a strong grip on my waist.
"Red." Ahaan whispered in my ears.
"What are you...doing here?" I asked trying to escape his hold.
"Nothing. I wanted to make sure you were not running away." He mumbled tightening his grip.
"Leave me." I murmured.
"Excuse me?" He asked.
"Ahaan, please let me go." I said looking into his eyes.
"Cant you be a bit more polite, young lady?" He teased me.
I wrapped my arms around his neck moving closer towards his chest.
"I was taught to be tough." I said as I stepped on his foot with my lovely heels. He released me all of a sudden and I burst into fits of laughter looking at his condition.
"See, this is just the beginning." I laughed.
"Ahana, you monkey girl!" He snapped running after me. I ran out of the room stumbling into some maidens as he followed me with the same pace.
"Catch me if you can Mr. Kangaroo." I kept blabbering.
"Ahana! Stop!" He giggled screaming all his might out.
I finally stopped once we reached the kitchen and went inside to hide behind his mother, after all she has taken care of me like her own child. I teased Ahaan by making faces, he was standing at the door waiting for me to step out. But while we were busy in our own little world, we had no clue that something was coming for us, and it was going to mess up, all that we had.
