25. Daughter's dilemma
I glared at Samar's face with my eyes wide opened.
"I'm sorry, I meant Ahaan." She told the artist with a faint smile. I had my eyes glued to her face still trying to figure out what was exactly going on?
"Ahana?" Humair called me. Technically I was mute and Samar was supposed to turn because she was using that name too, but rather she helped me identify him. I turned around to find Humair walking down the stairs with a bright shining smile. My eyes were willing to keep looking at him but they got distracted as soon as Ahaan came in their sight. Ahaan was following Humair downstairs as well. A smile unknowingly slipped my lips under my Abaya as his eyes met mine. He seemed less troubled after I destroyed Sufiya's picture. He still had love for Sufiya in his eyes but I couldn't find any hatred for me in them. I looked away recalling how bad his behavior was with me a few hours ago that is when Samar's face caught my eyes. Weirdly she had the same expressions as me, partially in love and partially in struggle of hating someone and my mind and heart exploded as soon as I realized who she was staring at. He wasn't Ahaan, he was the only guy who could never break anyone's heart, Humair.
Humair came downstairs and side hugged me. I looked at her face turning into a frown, even Ahaan's touch couldn't help her get her smile back. She was struggling as she looked at Humair getting cozy with me. I quickly pushed Humair away and glared at his face. I was confused but I knew something was wrong. Samar had taken everything I had and in no universe I would ever allow her to lay her hands on my bestfriend. Humair was everything I was left with. And I needed to make sure I don't lose him. I grabbed hold of his hand and dragged him back with me to our room right in front of her eyes. She seemed to be in pain as I pulled Humair close to me. Humair was shocked but Ahaan was furious. I could see him get carried away by his anger as he squeezed Samar's hand hardly but she didn't feel anything, her eyes were fixed on Humair and were all teary. Samar Siraj Ullah dosen't care about anyone and here she was crying after someone she barely even know.
"How do you know Samar?" I asked Humair as we entered our room.
He looked puzzled and began joking around with me.
"I don't know her as such. She's just someone who has your face, that's it." Humair finally gave a proper answer after 5 minutes of hovering.
"I don't get it. She is going mad after you, what have you done?" I asked him.
"That's called Humair's charm baby." He replied hugging me.
"Shut up!" I yelled at him leaving the room. I stayed in the guest room for the night and the next day I woke up to everyone being lost in the preparations of the wedding. I saw Ahaan was missing the whole day. Samar was lost in her own thoughts, she hardly noticed I was beside her all day.
I helped her wear my bangles and my wedding dress. I helped her put on my makeup and I helped her get my jewellery on. She was looking gorgeous, I imagined I was dressing my twin sister which might seemed to be my only chance today. It was about time and Ahaan was still missing. Kazi sahab was already in the main hall waiting for the bride and groom. The ceremony was delayed by an hour because Ahaan was not in the palace. He finally returned and went to his room to get ready. A girl came inside to inform us that we were being summoned in the main hall with the bride. I helped Samar get up, her dress weighed 18kgs. Madeeha and Humaira were also helping her walk out of the room. Weirdly, no one from the bride's family showed up. I walked beside Samar as she stepped out of her room. We took a few steps and saw Ahaan walking towards us with Humair, Ruman and Ravish. Ahaan's eyes were fixed on me while Samar was constantly staring at Humair. She was hesitant while walking today. I looked away from Ahaan and helped Samar sit in front of Ahaan. They were separated by a thick curtain.
Kazi sahab, the priest began asking for their consents for the marriage. He slowly took steps towards Samar. She was shivering and sweating and her heartbeat kept on increasing with every step that he took. I wasn't sure what exactly was going on but I did know, that it was about time, I bring out my Trump Card. I texted a friend to inform my trump card about Samar getting married today and send him in. Kazi Sahab showed Samar the Nikah Nama and was about to ask for her consent and I could bet she was about to get up and leave when all of a sudden a man entered screaming on top of his voice, "Stop this drama." He yelled.
Samar's face turned paler than someone who has yellow fever, Ahaan was shocked and Madeeha was about to faint because of fear. The guards were all on high alert mode and dadaji was holding his gun on that guy's head to stop him from creating any further trouble. I looked at Humair and winked at him. He took a deep breath and tried to hide his smile.
"What the?" Ahaan looked at me as I slowly stood up from my seat and removed my Abaya. I revealed my face to everyone for the first time and everyone just kept on staring at the mark that I had under my eye.
"Maya?" Samar asked completely shocked.
"What are you doing?" The guy yelled at her.
"Siraj Ullah?" King Sabir asked.
"Oh come on, you won't forget my face even when you're dead." Siraj said in an irritated tone.
"And you, come here." He added yelling at Samar. Everyone looked at Samar in confusion while she glared at Humair with disgust in her eyes.
"Gaurds, catch him!" Ahaan yelled.
"Wait! Nobody touches him until this blunder is cleared." I said taking position to protect Siraj.
"Samar come here. Now" Siraj yelled again. Everyone was trying to understand the situation and all of them had nothing but only questions on their faces.
"Samar, look your father is calling you." I smirked.
"Samar come with me. Marrying an enemy's son? You want kingdoms take it with power not by selling yourself." Siraj yelled at his daughter. He began walking towards her and she kept on staring at Humair as if he would save her.
"Let's go!" Siraj said reaching out for her hand. I realised Samar was nowhere interested in listening to her father and thus I decided to let down my armour. It was the simplest way to allow the gaurds to harm Siraj and no daughter can stand it.
As soon as I dropped my gun, all the palace guards rushed towards Siraj and captured him. Not just him, but me as well.
"Samar? Why are you doing this? Say something." Siraj cried. He pleaded his daughter to leave with him which practically was impossible now that he was captured by the palace guards.
"Ahana?" Ahaan asked staring at Samar's face. He reached close to her and lifted her chin. A small tear drop escaped her eyes and she finally broke her silence,
"Ahaan, I didn't wish for such a troublesome marriage. I wanted to be yours peacefully not with Maya or this weird guy yelling at me. I don't know who he is. I really don't." She cried hugging him.
I gave a faint laugh silently and looked at Humair who was more disappointed by our failure. We had no clue she would disown her own father.
"You sure, you don't know her?" Humair asked. I had given up all hope now. Ahaan would hate me even more.
"I really don't Humi. I swear. At least you trust me." Humair's face turned red with anger on hearing her lies but he too knew nothing was going to help us.
"Alright then, he destroyed your wedding, name his punishment." Humair asked Samar. She looked trouble and matched Siraj's eyes.
"I want him dead." She declared.
"What? Samar?" Siraj denied believing his ears.
I looked at her hug Ahaan. She kept on crying crocodile tears while Ahaan looked at me with anger in his eyes. I didn't want him to be any more upset over me, so I decided it was best that I leave.
I turned my face away from them and started to leave.
"But isn't death supposed to be the punishment for everyone involved with him?" Ahaan snapped.
_________
Death is inevitable, isn't it?
What do you think is going to happen next?
What is wrong with Samar and Humair?
