11: Names and the Foot

"Hey, Raph? Could you meet me by the manhole?"

"Sure, Raven. But what for?"

I smiled and laughed. "Because I need help with the pizzas. I figured you guys hadn't ordered yet, so I took it upon myself to get dinner."

I heard Raph laugh slightly on the other end of the line and shift the phone. "It's only two pizzas. Do you really need help?"

I laughed loud, hearing Raph jump on the other end. I stopped laughing but continued to giggle softly.

"Sorry about the scare. But there aren't two pizzas. It's more like eight pizzas."

"What?! Why eight?"

I thought about how I came to getting eight pizzas. I was on patrol and came across a mugging in process. The victim was the owner of Antonio's. I flew in and saved him. As a token of his appreciation, he said that I could get free pizza for life. That meant I could get as many pizzas as I wanted, whenever I wanted.

"I saved the owner of Antonio's and he granted me free pizza for life. So I decided I would get everyone their own large pizza. The only thing is that I wasn't sure what everyone wanted so I made all the pizzas cheese. Hope you don't mind."

"That's fine. I'll be there in a bit. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up the T-phone and placed it in its pocket on my belt. Leaning against the wall, I waited for Raph. It wasn't long before the cover lifted and my red masked turtle popped out of the sewer.

"Hey, Raven."

"Hey, Raph. Thanks for coming to help."

Raph smiled as he climbed out of the sewer. My eyes flicked down for a second, but it was enough to see the slight bump of Raph's stomach. I smiled at the fact that my babies were growing in Raph. Raph chuckled a little, giving away that he saw me looking at his baby bump. I looked up and smiled, slightly embarrassed that I got caught.

"Don't be embarrassed. You have every right to look. They're your kids too."

I nodded slightly and then grabbed the pizzas. As I handed some to Raph, I caught a glimpse of orange hair. I looked down the manhole and was greeted by April.

"Hey, Raven. Hope you don't mind that I came. Mikey and Casey were starting to get competitive with the video game they're playing."

I giggled. "It's fine. The more help the better."

"Come and get it guys."

April, Raph and I set the pizzas down on the counter. As expected, Mikey was the first one in the kitchen. His eyes looked like they were going to bulge out of his skull when he saw all the pizza. He actually started to drool. Raph looked at Mikey like he usually did when Mikey acted foolish.

"Close your mouth before you flood the kitchen with your spit, idiot."

Mikey looked at Raph, annoyed as usual. All I could do was suppress a laugh that threatened to escape my lips. Soon, everyone was in the kitchen. It felt a little awkward since it was the first time I was in the same room as Leo. I guess everyone felt the same because I could see eyes darting from me to Leo and back again. Leo stayed at the back of the crowd and waited till everyone else had left. I pushed his pizza towards him and then quickly turned away. I made myself seem busy and looked in the fridge. It seemed like forever before I heard Leo leave. Letting out the breath I was holding, I grabbed a soda and went to join the others.

Everyone was spread out in the living room. Casey and Mikey were playing a game. It was sort of funny to see them playing because they would lean down and grab their pizza with their mouths instead of their hands. The game was too important to pause, even for a second. I chuckled as I went to sit between April and Raph. April happily scooted over, leaving me room to sit. She was such a nice person. I started to eat my pizza as I watched the game. From the corner of my eye, I saw gray things on Raph's pizza. Not wanting to look nosy, I turned my head slightly to get a better look. Anchovies covered Raph's pizza. It seemed gross but Raph looked like he enjoyed the slimy fish. I couldn't blame him as I knew that the cravings had begun.

I read the names in my notebook for the seventh time. It was still early and the baby's genders couldn't be identified, but I had a list of baby names. I pondered whether or not there were names that were better than the names I already had, but I couldn't think of any. I smiled at the names but was interrupted by someone entering the room. I looked up and saw Leo. Everyone else was in the dojo, training, so it was just me and Leo. I shuffled in my seat, uncomfortable with being alone with Leo. He looked at me and I expected some sort of outburst, but he looked calm. He shuffled his feet a bit before walking over and sitting down next to me. I stiffened and just sat there. Leo was the same. It seemed like he wanted to say something but wasn't sure how to say it. We both sat in silence for a while, the only noises coming from the dojo. Finally, Leo coughed like he was clearing his throat for something.

"W-Wha-What do you have written in your notebook?"

I was surprised and thought about what to say. It felt awkward mentioning the pregnancy to Leo.

"Baby names." I looked at Leo, expecting something, but he just nodded.

"That's good. The kids can't be nameless, can they?" He let out a small huff of laughter. He was trying to break the awkwardness between us. After a bit, Leo took a deep breath and turned to me.

"Look, Raven. I know it's been weird between us. I can't be angry for what's happened and I know now that it wasn't your fault. Donnie told me that it probably had something to do with a hidden ability of yours that you aren't aware of. I can't be mad at that. So...I'm sorry for the hostility I showed towards you and I hope you can forgive me for that. I actually feel happy that you and Raph are going to be parents. I'm going to be an uncle and it could be fun to have little turtles running around."

I was shocked to hear Leo apologize, but I was happy as well. The bad feelings were gone and everything was fine. I didn't know what to say to Leo so I just hugged him instead. He seemed surprised but accepted the hug. When we pulled apart, Leo took my notebook and looked at the names inside. He smiled and I smiled at him because he was smiling.

"I know it's early but I couldn't resist picking names. I haven't run them by Raph yet, but I think he'll like them. If the twins are boys, I was thinking that they would be Axel and Zander. If they're girls, Angel and Kira. But if one twin is a girl and the other is a boy, their names will be Kira and Axel."

Leo nodded, liking the name choices. "I think those are perfect name choices."

Leo handed my notebook back to me. I set it down and got up to stretch. Leo got up as well and hugged me again as I stopped stretching. I hugged him back. As we pulled apart, I saw that training had ended and everyone was in the living room. They were staring at Leo and I, wondering what had happened while they were in the dojo. Raph walked up and stood beside me. Leo looked at him apologetically.

"I'm sorry for everything. I apologized to Raven and she accepted my apology. I hope you can do the same."

Raph had his arms crossed and looked away. He was thinking about what Leo said. He looked at me to see if what Leo said was true. I smiled at him slightly. He took that as my answer that everything was fine between me and Leo. He then looked back at his brother and nodded.

"I accept your apology, Leo."

Leo sighed with relief. Raph, not being one for hugs with his brothers, held out a hand. Leo shook it and applause started. Master Splinter walked up, clearly proud.

"I am proud of you, my sons... and daughter. You have resolved your problems and have made up with each other. In times like this, especially when young ones are on the way, conflict has no place."

Raph and Leo hugged Sensei. I stood back, smiling at the sight. Sensei saw that I was standing alone and held his arm out to me. He wanted me to join in the hug. I was more than happy to. I embraced Sensei and felt his arm wrap into place around us.

"Yeah, son. Group hug!!!"

Mikey ran over and joined in the hug. After him came Donnie, Casey and April.

I paced around the living room. My wings were aching and it was annoying me.

"Raven? Is something wrong?"

I turned to April and saw that she was concerned. I smiled at her apologetically.

"Sorry, April. It's just that my wings are aching. I haven't flown for a few days and I think my wings are starting to protest."

April giggled a little. "If you need to fly, go ahead."

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want you guys to miss me."

April giggled again. Raph looked up from the comic he was reading.

"Flying sounds like a good idea. I'll go with you."

I looked at him like he was crazy. "Um, I don't know if you know this, Raph, but you don't have wings. How could you fly without wings?"

He smiled at me with that famous smile of his. It always made my heart skip a beat.

"Don't worry. I have my sources. Meet you by the water tower in five." With that, he ran away towards Donnie's lab. I rolled my eyes playfully and left.

"TURFLYTLE TO THE RESCUE!!!"

I looked up at the voice, surprised and startled. I didn't have time to react as I was snatched from the roof. I knew he was just playing, but I pretended to be mad at Mikey.

"Mikey!!! You gave me a heart attack. What were you thinking?!"

Even with the weird bug eye goggles, I could tell Mikey was doing his famous puppy eyes. "I just wanted to surprise you."

He sounded really sad and it made me sad. I didn't mean to upset Mikey.

"I was just playing, Mikey. I'm sorry."

"You're forgiven." Mikey was quickly cheered up, making me laugh.

"Still think I need bird wings to fly?"

I looked over and saw Raph. He had some sort of flying device on his back. The only place that could have come from was Donatello's lab.

"You win. You don't need wings to fly. Donnie made that?"

"Yeah. Pretty cool, huh?"

I smiled at Raph. I then remembered that Mikey was still holding me.

"Hey, Mikey. Drop me."

He looked surprised. "Drop you? Are you insane?"

I shook my head. "Mikey, I have wings. I don't need to be carried."

He looked like he just remembered something he shouldn't have forgotten. "Right. I forgot." With that, Mikey dropped me.

"MIKEY!!! Wait next time!!!"

I fell through the air. We had been pretty high, which was a good thing because it gave me time to straighten out, to make myself face the road in a dive. This was one of my favorite things to do. I dove down, the street getting closer. When I was a few feet from the pavement, I snapped my wings out. My wings caught the air, swooping me up into the sky.

"WOOHOO!!!" I flew back down, joining Mikey and Raph.

"Wings feeling any better?"

I smiled at Raph. "Much better."

Raph smiled, happy that I felt better. We flew till we were above the busier parts of New York City. The lights were incredible. There were tons of different colors from signs in the windows and on the streets.

"This view is great. I can't believe that so many people are still out and about here. And there are so many shops still open. Amazing."

RAPHAEL P.O.V

Raven looked like she was enjoying herself. Her face was lit up with excitement and I thought that she never looked cuter. Raven looked beautiful. The air blew her hair back, showing her face and the light from the moon made her eyes glow. The moon even reflected off her wings. I had never seen Raven fly before and it was a sight to see. She looked like an angel straight out of heaven. She was the most beautiful thing that ever came into my life.

"Hey, Raph. Raven looks totally chill. If she wasn't real, she would totally be a vigilante in a comic book."

I looked at Mikey, annoyed that he ruined the moment. But I had to hand it to him on this one. Raven definitely seemed like she could be a comic book hero. She had all the qualities that a hero needed and she did a heck of a job taking care of the scum that threatened the streets of New York. She was a great addition to the team and I was proud of her.

RAVEN P.O.V

I breathed in the air, feeling at peace. I looked over and noticed that Raph was staring at me, a hint of pride showing in his eyes. I smiled at him and flew above. It was nice to be out in the night with my boyfriend. We flew around for a bit longer before turning and flying back to the water tower.

"That was an amazing flight. We should it again sometime."

Mikey, Raph and I sat on the roof of the water tower, hanging out and enjoying the night air. There was a slight breeze and it felt good. I breathed in the night air, feeling refreshed.

"This breeze feels nice. What do you think, Raph?"

I looked over at Raph and smiled. He was leaning back on one arm with the other resting on his stomach. He seemed so relaxed. He opened his eyes, smiling as he saw me looking at him.

"I think the breeze feels nice. Sure feels better than the air moving through the lair."

A chuckle escaped my lips as I got up and moved over to Raph. I layed down next to him and he held me close. It was the first time I got a closeup look at Raph's baby bump. Raph saw me looking.

"Here."

Raph gently took my hand and placed it on the bump. The babies weren't developed enough to start moving, so I knew I wouldn't feel anything. But still, it felt nice. Just knowing that there were tiny lives growing beneath my hand made me feel happy. I sighed with content and leaned back against Raph, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. He gave me a kiss back. We layed there for a while. But soon, Mikey looked troubled.

"Uh, guys. Hate to ruin your cuddle session, but we got company and it's not the good kind."

Raph and I quickly got up, only to see that we were surrounded by foot ninjas. As expected, Karai was the leader. This time, I wasn't afraid. I was angry and protective. I stood a bit in front of Raph and glared at Karai.

"What are you doing here, Karai.?"

She laughed to herself like the answer was obvious and walked forward. "Shredder still wants you on his side. Oh, by the way, congrats on the kids."

I stepped back, mainly because I was shocked at what Karai said. But I couldn't let Karai see that she had hit a nerve.

"What are you talking about?"

Karai rolled her eyes, looking annoyed that I asked about something that I should have known about. "I'm talking about the baby bump on Raph. It's not hard to find out things, especially when Leo shouts it to the sky."

I lost my breath for a second, unable to believe what I had heard. I looked at Raph and saw that he looked as surprised as I was. But his surprise soon turned to anger. If there was one person who shouldn't know about the twins, it was Karai.

"It's none of your concern. Our business is our business. So why don't you just get lost."

I felt an usual anger swell within me. Sure, I was angry at Karai because the very presence of her threatened my family, but I was also angry because who knows what could happen now that Karai knew about the pregnancy.

Karai glared at me. I had challenged her and she didn't like to be challenged by someone she thought was lower than her.

"Pretty big words for a little bird. How about we see if your fighting skills are as big as your talk?" With that, Karai signaled to the foot and the fighting ensued.

We were surrounded by ninjas, blocking and dodging blows. Raph fought like he usually did, but he made sure to focus and blocked every blow that was aimed for his stomach. I backed him up and fought off any ninja that tried to get Raph when he wasn't looking. Mikey seemed to be handling his own pretty well and did his best to keep the foot from ganging up on Raph.

It felt like forever, but we finally had most of the foot knocked out. A few were left and had retreated behind Karai, waiting for their next command.

"Well, I guess you have improved. Not bad for a pregnant turtle, bird freak, and butterfly. But that was just the start. I want to see what you're really made of."

Karai ran at us, katana out. She went for Raph first, purposely aiming for his stomach. Raph dodged the blows, but one blow caught him in the thigh. Raph fell, clutching his leg. Unlike me, Raph didn't have rapid healing abilities, so his wound bled. His face was twisted in pain, but he didn't let Karai have the satisfaction of thinking she had beat him. He glared at her through the pain. She just smirked and ran at him, katana ready to deal a final blow. But I wasn't going to let that happen and ran in front of Raph. My leg barely touched Raph's shoulder as I stood, a defense against the threat. I waited till Karai swung her blade up, then unleashed my power. Using my fire, I created a forcefield around me and Raph. Karai's katana bounced off the surface, taking Karai by surprise. She fell on her butt and glared at me. If looks could kill, I would have died right there and then.

Karai stood up, huffing. "This isn't over yet. I may have failed twice, but you will join Shredder."

Karai signaled once more to her ninjas and they left as silently as they had arrived. I let out the breath I had held in and felt my muscles relax. The force field went away as my defense levels died down. A gasp from behind reminded me of Raph and I turned to see what the damage was. Blood still ran from the wound and Mikey was doing his best to control the bleeding. Something was needed to stop the bleeding, some sort of cloth. Quickly, I untied my mask and wrapped it around the wound as tight as I could.

"AHHHH!!!" Raph cried out and tears pricked his eyes.

"I'm so sorry."

Raph fought through the tears and looked at me. I could see that he didn't blame me for the pain he was experiencing. The makeshift tourniquet did an ok job at keeping the bleeding under control, but Raph needed stitches which meant that he had to be brought back to the lair.

"Mikey, help me carry Raph. He needs stitches and Donnie's the only one who can do that."

Mikey was serious now and nodded. We then helped Raph get up, letting him use us for support. What was usually a few minutes seemed like an eternity as Mikey and I helped Raph get home. I knew it hurt Raph and probably hurt like shell, but he tried his best to hide his pain. It was a relief to get to the lair, mostly because I knew Raph would get the help he needed.

"Donnie!!! Raph needs help!!!"

Donnie came running. Leo was right behind him, worry clear as day on his face.

"What happened?"

I was afraid to talk, fearing that the hatred Leo had towards me when he found out about the pregnancy would rise up again. Luckily, Mikey beat me to it.

"It was Karai and her ninjas. She tried to get Raven again and hurt Raph in the process. You got to help him, Don."

Donnie, who had been inspecting the damage done on Raph's leg, nodded. "The laceration on Raph's leg is deep. He'll definitely need stitches. Leo, I'll need you to help Mikey carry Raph to my lab. Everything needed to treat the wound is there."

Leo switched places with me. I couldn't meet his eyes and backed away. Raph was led to Donnie's lab, leaving me to ponder through my thoughts. Raph wouldn't have been hurt if Karai wasn't shellbent on catching me. I felt like it was my fault Raph was hurt. Tears fell down my face as I walked out of the lair.
