Riposte [First Date]

Adrien dived forward, pulling Ladybug into his body and rolling them across the floor.

"Ow!" The blonde model said, sitting up and clutching a hold on his ankle.

"Are you okay?" She asked, unhooking her yo-yo back off her hip and spinning it in front of them. Her stance was defensive in case their latest akuma came after them. She couldn't believe how something so strange had already become second nature to her. It wasn't like she had a hidden talent for yo-yo tricks, yet her moves were already smooth and slick.

"Yeah, I've just twigged it." Adrien tried to stand up, testing the weight bearing on his newly damaged ankle. It seemed nothing was severely harmed but he wouldn't be surprised if it swelled later, worst comes to worst he'd have a little bruising.

"I've got to say, Agreste, you're doing well. Two for two on the akuma's."

Adrien rolled his eyes at Ladybug, "Well, Bug, aren't you just a comedian today."

"It makes a change from it being you. Now go and find a place to transform, I need you."

"You need me! Awww that's just the sweetest thing you've ever said." He fluttered his eyelashes at her, his lips creating the most adorable pout which would be distracting if someone wasn't trying to kill them.

Ladybug rolled her eyes, turning the attention back to the Akuma, aka Riposte.

Riposte seemed to have it in for Adrien Agreste, calling him out and wanting him to pay. First thoughts were her partner had taken a freebie and the manager wasn't happy, however, after careful consideration, Marinette had guessed that it had something to do with the pretty fencer he'd been practising with earlier that day. The one there when she'd jumped into the conversation.

Although he said she wasn't interrupting anything between the two of them, the poisonous look she'd received from the girl was an indication that 'yes' Marinette had most certainly interrupted something. She'd scrammed out there as fast as possible. Not wanting to be a reason for ... well ... this.

"What did you do anyway?" Ladybug asked, picking Adrien up and swinging him onto an abandoned rooftop. It was obvious the conversation the two fencers were having was the catalyst to this event.

"She wanted to start things up again -"

"She's your ex?" Ladybug asked in shock. He'd only ever mentioned he'd been with someone in passing, there had never been a description of the girl, or any details about where he'd met her. She had zero ideas about his past.

So to find out Adrien was still actively around his ex came as a bit of a shock. Neither pleasant nor unpleasant... just a little confusing. Why wouldn't he have told her?

"Claws out," a flash of green replaced Adrien with Chat Noir and the two started their next advancement to find and free Kagami.

"Are you jealous?" Chat Noir asked, an amused smile on his face.

"Not jealous," she said, "just curious."

"Well we went on a couple of dates as teens, both have overbearing parents and it was nice." Chat Noir twisted in the air, moving away from the latest attack. They were both still coming to terms with their superhero powers but neither would deny how awesome it was to pull stunts like this - Adrien especially.

Taking a running leap, Ladybug flipped into the air completing a double somersault before landing and throwing her yo-yo to the nearby building.

"That was hot!" Chat said, chasing after her with an extension of his baton.

"Less looking more doing, Kitty Cat."

They made their way towards the Louvre, Riposte already mid attack when they got there, causing the heroes to group together and come up with some sort of plan ... the plan eventually being there was no plan.

Chat Noir vaulted down onto the ground, holding his baton in his usual fencing stance. "'En-garde, pret, allez." He announced, enticing the fencer to come and attack.

"You sure you want to try that with me, cat!"

"I'll give it a twirl, after all there's no point me being here if I don't."

Ladybug snickered at the terrible joke before dropping down on the other side. "Lucky charm." Throwing her yo-yo into the air, she summoned the lucky charm and was left holding, "a radiator?" She questioned, looking around for any type of logic.

Riposte turned sharply, her aim set on Ladybug only for Chat Noir to jump, grab Kagami and pull her back against him.

"You have two choices," the struggling akuma announced, "give me your Miraculous' or give me Adrien Agreste."

"Naa, I don't think that's going to work today." Chat Noir replied, struggling against the strength of the akuma.

"I belong with Adrien Agreste." Riposte shouted out, trying to free her hand shaped like a sabar.

"It has to be a mutual decision, and if he likes someone else then unfortunately you have to let him go." Ladybug moved forward, attempting to placate the akuma and maybe take them down without fighting. This was one of Adrien's friends; the last thing she wanted to do was cause them any harm.

"But he's falling in love with her when he should be falling in love with me."

The shock of what Riposte had just revealed caused Chat Noir to loosen his hold enough for her to break free. This was not the way he wanted Marinette to know he was falling hard for her. Oh, tiddlywinks!

Lunging forward to attack, Riposte pushed her sabared hand forward whilst throwing Chat Noir back with the other. The cat hero falling onto his back, only being able to watch what happened next. Riposte was quick, and it seemed Ladybug had been as shocked as him at the truth being announced so publicly. He wanted to save her, he needed to save her but he couldn't get up quick enough. She was going to get hurt because of him. Something that wouldn't have happened if he didn't know she was Marinette. He began to panic, watching the scene in front of him play out like an old Mediaeval jousting movie. Placing a hand to his side, he attempted to push up from the ground, his hand losing balance as it slipped on something. Something round.

His baton.

Grabbing a tight grasp on the metal object, he extended it, guiding the end in between Riposte's feet and moving it with a scream. He watched as the akuma began to fall towards Ladybug, towards his Marinette, shouting at her to protect herself. The radiator in her hands pushed forward, trapping the sabar in between its metal bars. Jumping to his feet and retracting the baton, he flipped forward, smashing it against Riposte's hand and breaking the weapon. A purple butterfly releasing as black and purple bubbles over took Kagami's body, leaving the girl on her knees and a picture in her hands. A picture of them.

"Go and de-transform." Ladybug said, indicating Chat Noir to come back as Adrien Agreste.

Understanding what she was asking Adrien ran into the nearest alleyway to drop his transformation and release Plagg.

"You need to talk to her kid, it seems you really upset her." Adrien nodded, taking a wedge of cheese from his pocket to hand to the little ball of fur.

"You're right," he sighed, reaching his hand behind his neck and rubbing gently. "I didn't know she felt that way. She's never shown it."

"It doesn't seem she shows anything Adrien."

He couldn't help but nod in agreement. Though Kagami wasn't one to shy away from the truth, the way she loved was calm, quiet and caring. Her actions speaking a lot more than her words.

He headed back to where Ladybug was comforting his friend on the ground, his heart aching at the sweetness of his partner, knowing full well the information she'd heard earlier would be affecting her almost as much as it had affected him. He took a deep breath and made his way over, kneeling down on the floor beside Kagami and taking her into his arms. He looked up to Ladybug who simply nodded and walked away.

Adrien watched as Ladybug hid behind a sign outside of the Louvre, a telltale pink flash letting him know Ladybug had returned to being Marinette.

"I'm sorry," Adrien whispered, keeping his hold tight on Kagami, "I didn't know. I would never hurt you on purpose, I swear."

He heard Kagami sniff, before she gave him one last squeeze and released him, taking the picture and throwing it to the ground. "I'm going to need time, Adrien. I'll call you when we can be friends again." He nodded in understanding, knowing better than to argue. He knew Kagami, and he knew when to push and when to hold back. He grabbed hold of the picture and placed it into his trouser pocket.

"I'll be here." Adrien replied, remaining on the ground as Kagami strode away. He let out a pent up sigh and looked to the floor, maybe something there could make him feel better about the situation.

A shadow appeared over him, the pigtails giving him a huge hint to who was there.

"You know, I could have you arrested for stalking." He said.

"I'd like to see you try, Kitty. After all, who was planning on visiting all the local coffee shops to find me."

Laughing, he stood up and took her into his arms, placing a kiss into her hair. "We didn't pound it," he said.

"I didn't know that was a thing."

"I think it should be. It just feels right to do that after a battle."

Leaning back, she looked up into his eyes. "So, no kisses?"

"Not as superheroes. I have a feeling our relationship will be seen as a weak spot." Moving her back into his body he squeezed her again.

"You're probably right." She sighed, his body vibrating with silent laughter. "Why are you laughing?"

"You said I'm right."

"You know what, I'm done!" She pulled away, turning to walk away from him, only to be caught and have Adrien pull her back into his warm body.

"I'm not." He leant his head down again, placing his lips against hers in a long passionate kiss. He didn't dare push it further than just lip to lip contact, but with what he was feeling at the moment, he swore he could touch the sky. They didn't need to move too fast, they had all the time in the world.

Finally content that she wouldn't run away again, he let go of her arms and moved his face from hers. Her eyes remained closed as a soft sigh left her lips, her chest raising and falling contentedly.

When she finally opened her eyes he was shocked to see the change. They had softened greatly, a slight liquid coating over them.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly.

"I'm purrfect." She replied with a smile, looking down to watch as he joined his hand to hers.

"Excellent, because I'm about to take us on our first date."

"Now?" She said in shock, her eyes changing quickly from desire to dread. "But I'm not in my date outfit!"

"I don't care ... forget everything, I just want to be with you."

"Is that because you're falling in love with me?" She sassed, his body freezing on the spot.

"I will neither confirm or deny."

She wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her head into his side. "If it's any consolation, Chaton, I'm falling in love with you too."
