Destiny [Shooting Star/Wedding]
Balancing the box on one arm, she manovoured herself to grab the keys out of her bag only noticing then the white envelope slipping onto the floor. She fumbled around, placing the boxes on the floor in a desperate need to pick up and open the letter.
"Open it." Tikki's small voice sounded from Marinette's bag, the small red creature sticking her head out of the bag and gazing her big blue eyes into Marinette's.
With trembling hands Marinette tore the seal and opened the envelope. Adrien was due home today so the reason for this letter was both puzzling and, in Marinette's eyes, pointless.
Pulling the plain piece of paper from its previous home, she held it in front of herself and began to read.
'My dearest shooting star,
I saw you, and in that moment my dark life suddenly had meaning. Like a shooting star, you've brightened my world once again.
But it's more than just brightness. You brought so much more to my life: direction, beauty, meaning (a little black creature with a cheese addiction).
I fell in love. And sometimes, I'm lucky enough to walk amongst those who can understand my need for the light, the need for direction and meaning. You appeared and showed me the love that re-awakened my heart.
I saw you, and all of a sudden my life had meaning.
Take to the skies, my shooting star, and look for me.'
"Oh, Marinette." Tikki's sniff matched Marinette's, the girl wiping the tears from her now damn cheeks.
"He definitely has a way with words," she laughed, the tears continuing to fall in the most unattractive way, leaving silver streaks in their wake. "I think he did it just to ruin my makeup."
The small red kwami hugged into Marinette's face, both smiling through the tears of joy.
"Should I just go?" She asked Tikki, wanting a second opinion on the situation. Marinette was ready to leave the macarons and just dart into the Paris skyline in search of her better half.
"Yes!" Tikki squealed, "Grab the macarons and let's go."
Both girls giggling, Marinette opened the door before grabbing the treats and heading inside, throwing her bag and macarons on the counter and heading straight for the balcony.
"Tikki, spots on." Unhooking her yoyo, Ladybug flicked out the wire hooking onto the closest chimney before flying off into the darkening skies. The sun set framing the city in its perfect colours of red, orange and yellow.
Marinette had always had a fondness for her city, it was beautiful, historical and every corner had a memory attached to it, even more since she became Ladybug. As she sailed through the streets waving to well wishers as she passed by, she couldn't help but think how lucky she was because everything could have turned out so differently.
She'd been a star student at collége, and even though she was notorious for turning up between 5 and 20 minutes late, her teachers respected her and she rarely received punishment. Each teacher understood that that was just her.
As she went between her parents' patisserie and her collége feelings and memories flooded her consciousness. The first day she'd met Alya, the head to heads she would often have with Chloé, the burden of Lila's lies on her friendships. The mixture of joy and hurt scrambled together adding to the cocktail of her destiny.
Looking over at her old balcony, she remembered the day she'd been accepted in ESMOD. They'd all celebrated like crazy: cake, drinks, special treats, friends and family, it was the perfect celebration to something she had worked so hard for, for something she'd wanted (at the time) more than anything.
She'd gone to ESMOD heartbroken, and as she swung near the park she saw the fountain he'd told her it was over. That her moving to the other side of the city was selfish and irresponsible to them as a couple, that she had destroyed their future.
She'd cried in her mothers arms, angry at herself for not considering his feelings more, her mother comforting her with words of wisdom and love, telling her that destiny will always find its way and her soulmate was still out there somewhere.
As she headed in the direction of her first apartment away from home, she halted on the supermarket rooftop. The rooftop which held a thousand memories.
"You know, if it's that hard a choice you could just take them all."
"Yeah, it's definitely tempting."
"Here"
"But you'll get wet?"
"Y-y-yes, I'll soon to you speak, I mean, speak to you doon, I mean soon. Woah!"
A small laugh left her mouth. The day she'd met Adrien, the day she'd gone from strong and sassy to a complete stuttering mess in the matter of minutes and she wouldn't change it for the world, for that was what he'd become. Her world, her hope, her life .
The shared games and movie nights, the night they'd made it official, the love, laughter and tears. The declarations of love, the tears of a broken heart, they'd been there through it all, together.
She was completely and utterly in love with Adrien Agreste, even after all the years they'd been together he was still so deeply embedded in her heart she could never imagine a day to pass without him being in here.
Her lover and her partner.
They'd been through so much and she would do it again in a heartbeat. She would do everything again as long as it meant she was with him.
She dropped down onto a rooftop opposite the Eiffel Tower, one they rarely went to and she couldn't understand why the view was magnificent. As she stood looking down at the people milling around below, every now and then one would look up and point to her, but this rooftop...she felt something. Something deep and meaningful.
"Hey," the voice of her dreams sounded beside her, her focus remaining straight forward. What was she feeling? Was it a different time? A different universe? A dream?
"Can you feel it too?" she whispered, her eyes never moving.
"I can. We've done this before."
"I've been having these things , like extreme cases of deja vu, but this ...this is something else." She turned her head towards her boyfriend, paying attention to his strong jawline as his face remained placid.
"This rooftop is...it's filled with memories." She watched as Chat Noir stepped back a few feet, before calling off his transformation. Ladybug quickly doing the same.
"Tikki, Plagg, what is...why?"
The two kwamis began to dart about the rooftop, each looking around before returning, eyes wide and mouths open.
"Destiny." Tikki said. "You can feel it can't you?"
They nodded in unison, reaching out to hold onto each other, pulling the other in towards them and holding closely.
"Yes." Adrien whispered.
"You've come full circle. This is the strongest you've ever been." Plagg continued.
"Ever been?" Marinette asked, looking at Adrien before turning back to the kwamis.
"When we told you about the Ladybug and Chat Noir being once in a millennium, well that's because it's always you two. We're on an endless loop, and you're not always Marinette and Adrien, but it's your souls that are always the combination of the Yin and Yang, it's always you."
"It's your destiny."
"Then I think, I want to do this here." Adrien pulled away from Marinette lowering down onto one knee, pulling a ring from his back pocket.
"What? No box?" Marinette laughed, though the tears that were already leaving her eyes.
"If you can find a place in my suit to hold a box go ahead, but it was just the ring or nothing, I don't have a magical yo-yo thing like you do."
"I'm sure it could have-"
"Marinette, stop! You're spoiling my moment."
She giggled, placing a hand over her mouth in response.
"Go ahead, I'm all ears."
He took a deep breath and looked into her eyes, a smile stretching over her lips. "Marinette, you are my everything, and it seems like you always will be. I love you infinitely. You are my sun, my moon, and everything in between, and my life will only be complete when you marry me. So, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, will you please be my wife? Will you marry me?"
Her answer came as a full blown smacker to the lips, the impact of her knocking him down to the ground, each fighting to take control.
"Yes!" She began to pepper kisses all over his face as she sang yes multiple times. "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
"Okay, okay. Come on then, let me take you to what I had planned. I'd spent ages setting this up."
"Are you angry? I can always say no and then you can ask me again, after all," she held up her left hand, "you haven't put a ring on it yet."
"Smart arse."
"Can't we just go home? I've missed you." She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling herself into him and breathing in the smell she'd missed oh so much! Like she could ever say no to him.
"After M'Lady, just come with me. Claws out."
"Spots on."
Holding onto her fiancé (squeal) tightly, he took them into the night sky and onto a beautifully laid out rooftop. Flowers, candles, blankets, pillows...it was wonderful.
"I love you so much." Calling off her transformation she wandered around the area, every step fuelling up her loved up feelings and wondering how there was any room left in her heart it seemed that full.
"I love you too, now please would you do me the honours on wearing my ring?"
Holding her left hand out towards him, he slipped the ring onto her finger knowing that they were making that next huge step in their lives and neither could be more excited.

Later that evening, arriving home blissfully in love, Marinette led Adrien to the newly healed couch.
"The guys did a good job then?" he asked, looking around at the new style Nathaniel had added and Kim's craftsmanship.
"Yep, and that means it stays with us forever ."
"Let me guess, it'll be the centrepiece at our wedding?"
Laughing, Marinette lined herself up beside Adrien and held onto his arm, pulling him to sit down at the same time as she did.
Their combined weight sent a shift in the cushions, the sofa collapsing once again and confetti shooting out of the top, followed by balloons and streamers.
Slowly, Marinette turned to Adrien, an eyebrow raised and a stern look on her face.
"You, Mr Agreste, are lucky I already said yes."
