Destined to Be
He stood next to a vase of red roses, admiring their intoxicating scent.
"They are marvelous, aren't they?" Prince Charming asked, desperate to start a conversation with the handsome man.
"Oh! I was just getting some fresh air," the man said nervously.
The embarrassment and the unassuming grace of his face had Charming spellbound. Though his name was Charming, there was no human more charming than the man before him who was utterly unaware of how stunning he was.
"I do that as well. The castle is a great place to live, but it can be suffocating," Charming said.
"I apologize. I didn't realize you were Prince Charming," he said, confused.
"Tonight, I'm just a guy admiring a beautiful view," he said, hoping he wasn't obvious. "And you are?"
"Prince Philip," he said.
"It's a pleasure," Charming said, smiling brightly.
In a move of both courage and insanity, Charming approached Philip. He expected him to retreat, but he didn't.
"These flowers have a divine scent, don't they? Like a perfect woman, beauty in shape as well as fragrance," Charming said.
He was testing Philip, his body angling closer to the distinctive smell that drew him in, the one of forest and pine. He wanted to forever stay trapped in the intoxicating haze.
"Yes, they are. Both are beautiful but too thorny," Philip said.
"Really?" Charming asked, looking deep into Philip's eyes.
The longer he did so, the more Charming got lost in their enchanting depths, which spoke of mystery, intrigue.
Before he knew it, Charming was inches away from Philip. His gaze traveled to the perfectly shaped lips calling him.
He slowly licked his dry lips, his throat parched. It was a torturous pleasure to be so close to Philip. It left Charming stunned.
"Yes. I know so," Philip said.
Before Charming could say anything, Philip's lips were on his, passionately devouring them. All there was left was the intoxicating taste of Philip.
Charming's breathing was ragged, erratic as Philip held him firmly in his arms.
When their glistening lips parted, Charming wanted more. His hunger was nowhere near satiated. He had finally met the person he wouldn't mind kissing for the rest of his life.
"You definitely know how to kiss," Charming said breathlessly.
Philip chuckled, but neither one of them pulled back. They knew what they found was too precious to destroy with doubts.
"I'm serious. You could wake up the dead," Charming added.
Philip blushed but didn't make any further remarks.
"Dance with me," Charming suddenly said.
"Pardon?" Philip asked, confused.
"I've been stuck dancing with women I didn't like. It would be amazing to finally dance with someone whom I like," Charming said.
"Very well," Philip said, taking his hand.
They danced to the soft music wafting from the castle. It was the most magical moment in both of their lives. And though they knew there would be many challenges ahead, they chose to enjoy each other's company and the most precious thing they found, love.
