"I can't fucking believe this" she muttered under her breath, realizing that she had just gotten stood up by Theodore after waiting for him for two hours.
Why would he stand her up? Did he not like her or something? Did she do something wrong?
Maybe she got him all wrong, maybe his interest in her was a facade. It didn't matter, she was fuming with anger at that point.
If he didn't actually like her, why didn't he just say so? Why did he have to make her believe that he did? Why did he lead her on?
Or maybe this was something else. Maybe he forgot, maybe something came up. But still, couldn't he have told her?
She decided to wait for a few more minutes, leaning on the wall of some random store as she lit a cigarette, tapping her foot up and down trying to control her anger and disappointment.
One of the traits both Riddles got from their father was his anger. Their mother didn't have one bad bone on her body, she was always a positive person, always tried to see the good in people.
What the hell did she see in their father? Maybe he was a different person back then, or a different person with her. It didn't matter.
Josephine tried desperately not to inherit her fathers anger and violent side, but in that moment she felt like she could murder someone.
She was used to people disappointing her, but she did not expect it from Theodore. She though he was different, she though that he was sweet inside that cold exterior he kept around others.
Guess she was wrong.
"You waiting for someone?" A familiar voice asked, causing her to turn around.
"Adrian Pucey" She said eyeing him up and down as she took a drag out of her cigarette.
"Josephine Riddle" he said as he stood next to her, leaning his back against the wall the same way she did. "Didn't have you for a smoker" he said as he looked at her taking another drag of her cigarette, eyeing her up and down as if she was pray.
"Guess your assumptions were wrong then" she said trying to hold back her anger that was not targeted at him.
"I guess they were. So? Are you going to tell me who it is that you are waiting for?" He asked in a cocky tone, as if she was just going to tell him without a second thought.
"Maybe I'm not waiting for anyone" she replied with her eyebrow slightly raised.
"Come on, I'm sure a pretty girl like you wouldn't be sitting in Hogsmade all alone" his sentence made her scoff at the reveal of his arrogance.
"You're talking as if you know me, which you don't" She said in a threatening tone, which he didn't pick up on.
"What if I want to? What if I wanna know who you really are?" He said causing her to roll her eyes as she took a final drag from her cigarette before throwing it on the floor and stomping on it.
"Then I guess you'll need to try harder next time" she said as she gave him a small fake smile before walking off.
Instead of apparating back to Hogwarts, she decided to walk. She needed to clear her mind and not jump into the worst case scenario, which she did every time.
She had learned to jump to the worst case scenario, so that she wouldn't get disappointed when it actually happened, which it usually always did.
She enjoyed her walk back to the castle, it was peaceful and calming despite the situation she was currently in.
Josephine always loved walking. Whenever things got too heated and violent back home, she always walked through the gardens of the Riddle Manor for hours at a time. She had found peace in nature in some way.
After around 25 minutes, she made it to the Slytherin common room. She was pretty exhausted physically and mentally.
She saw Draco and Blaise sitting on one of the couches, probably catching up as she approached them.
"Do and of you know where Theo is?" She asked the boys, in a clearly annoyed tone as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"He's in his dorm, I wouldn't go there if I were you" Blaise replied with a worried look in his face.
"Yea he's pretty tense right now" Draco added, agreeing with Blaise.
"Why?" She asked as she raised her eyebrow slightly.
"He won't tell us, we tried to talk to him but he just kicked us out" Draco said and Blaise nodded in agreement.
"Alright thanks" she said as she gave them a smile, before making her way to the entrance of the boys dormitories, before being stopped as she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Wait, you're not seriously going there right now are you?" Blaise asked in a concerned tone, as he turned her around to face him.
"And what if I am?"
"Trust me that's not a good idea. When he gets like this it's best if you leave him alone. Besides, you won't be able to have a conversation with him while he's like this" He explained. She should have heard him, after all Blaise was Theo's best friend, so he probably knew him better than anyone.
"Whatever, I need to atleast try and talk to him" she said as she let out a deep breath.
"Don't say I didn't warn you" Blaise said before turning around and walking back to the couch to sit with Draco.
Josephine decided to ignore Blaise's words, she was furious with Theo for leaving her waiting in Hogsmade after he was the one that suggested they gox
So, she made her way to his dorm and knocked on the door, not too hard to try to fight back her anger.
"Doors open" Theodore replied in a unbothered tone from inside.
She opened the door and walked in, closing it behind her. The moment he saw her he tensed up even more than he was before, almost as if she was the last person he wanted to see.
He was sitting on his window smoking a joint, trying to seem unfazed by her presence.
"So you decided to get high instead of showing up to the date you asked me on?" She asked crossing her arms as she walked a bit closer to him.
"I can't fucking do this right now, leave" he said, not even looking at her as he took a drag from his joint.
"What you can't own up to what you did?" She asked visibly frustrated.
"Do you need something Josephine?" He said as he turned around to face her, annoyance in his tone.
"Yes I need you to tell me why the hell you left me waiting for you for more then two hours"
"I forgot" he said, looking away from her making it obvious that that was not the reason he didn't actually show up.
"Don't lie to me" she demanded.
"Fine, I didn't want to see you"
"Oh so you thought the best way to go about it was to just leave me there waiting? You could have just cancelled"
"Oh my god can you not be so self absorbed for one second!" The whole world does not revolve around you and what you want!" He said as his tone got louder, walking a few steps closer to her as he left his joint on the window.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean? You are the one that left me waiting!"
"So what?" He asked rolling his eyes.
"So you can call yourself self absorbed for not having the decency to just fucking cancel!"
"Just leave! I don't want anything to do with you or your psycho family!"
The moment he said that, the room filled with silence. Josephine's blood started to boil as he mentioned her family.
"Don't you dare talk about my family"
"What's that? Did I hit a nerve? Did I hurt your precious little feelings?" He asked ironically as he got closer to her face.
"Fuck you" she said, nothing but coldness under her tone.
"Oh yea, go cry to daddy about it, but you can't do that can you?" He was definitely going too far, and the bad thing was, that Josephine had no idea why he was acting this way.
"Shut up" she demanded.
"Bet you're just gonna turn out like him aren't you? A psycho murderer-" his words got cut short as her palm hit his cheek hard, causing his whole face to turn around.
"Don't you dare talk about me or my family ever again, or I swear to god a slap is going to be the least of your concerns" she threatened him as she walked out of his dorm, slamming the door behind her.
She had no idea why he acted like this, why he suddenly started treating her so coldly and harshly. Even though it had only been a week since they met, she had really started to like him, she thought he felt the same way.
Guess he didn't.
One thing was certain, she was not going to let him get away with the way he just acted, he talked to her with such cruel words.
He was one of the only people in Hogwarts that did not judge her for her family, for her past. One of the only people that made her feel accepted there. Guess this whole behavior was a facade.
She hated him, she despised him with every bone in her body for the way he just spoke to her. His fucking audacity.
