Part 1

"Mr. Kapoor.. aap ek baar aur soch lijiye. Mujhe in sab main koi interest nahi hai.. aap kyun itni dur Nagpur laaye hai mujhe?"
(Mr. Kapoor, please think about this one more time. I have no interest in all this. Why have you got me here in Nagpur?)

"Priya, do you trust me?"

"Ofcourse I do Mr. Kapoor.. ye kaisa sawal hai?"
(Ofcourse Yes... What kind of question is this?)

"To phir meri baat maan lo, I want you to take up a bigger part in my life. Sirf trustee hi to Banna hai.. aur vaise bhi tum hi to kehti rehti ho na ki mujhe Kam kaam karna chahiye.. so why don't you share this responsibility of mine?"
(Then please listen to me. I want you to become trustee in this hospital. And anyway, you are the one who keeps telling me to reduce my work pressure, so why don't you share this responsibility of mine?)

Unable to counter this, Priya rolls her eyes at Ram who has a victory smile after finally being able to convince Priya.

"Acchha thike, lekin phir pehle mujhe mandir jaana hai, aai ek min"
(Fine.. but let me go the mandir first)

Priya leaves to pray at the Ganesha idol at the hospital temple.

Amidst the sniffles "Bappa, mere Virat Sir ko bacha lijiye please" is heard by Priya.
(Bappa, please save my Virat Sir)

She looks down to see a young girl, almost 19-20 years, bent down and in tears, intently praying.

Priya, understanding that someone close to her is fighting the battle of life, gently puts her hand on the girl's shoulder.

The girl looks up and sees a kind woman looking at her.

She stands up, wipes her tears with the back of her hand and says, "I am so sorry.. main side ho jaati hun"
(I am so sorry.. I'll shift to the side)

Priya smiles a bit at her, closes her eyes and prays. She turns to go away for the meeting but then looks at the girl again. She has an injured arm and bandages on her ankle. And yet she is praying for someone else, tears have streaked her pretty face, her nose red and the eyes have a forlorn look, as if something is slipping away from her.
Priya cannot bear to go away from this girl and goes and sits near her and offers her water bottle to her.

The girl looks at her again, surprised by the gesture of this woman and takes a sip of the water.
"Kya naam hai aapka? Aur koun admit hai? Are they fine?"
(What's your name? And who is admitted here? Are they fine?)

The sniffles turns to sobs, Priya waits for her to calm down.
"Mera naam Sai hai.. aur yaha mere husband admit hai"
(My name is Sai and my husband is admitted here)

It is then Priya notices, the girl has been clutching her mangalsutra all this while and she is stunned to see such a young girl, who should be in college, married off. But her clothes and behaviour seems to be of someone from a well to do family.

But she decides to leave it for sometime and console this girl. She seems alone with no family member near her in such a difficult time and Priya doesn't have the heart to leave her alone in such a state.

Priya gently caresses her back, which brings out another bout of tears and Sai continues amidst the tears.. "mere husband IPS officer hai, landmine blast hua hai jisme vo injured hai. Ek injection chahiye but it's very costly and I don't know how to arrange that"
(My husband is an IPS officer. There was a landmine blast and he got injured. Now they need a very expensive injection and I don't know how to arrange that)

"To main sponsor kar deta hun.. tell me what it is"
(So then let me sponsor it)
Both Sai and Priya look up at the direction of that sound, to see Ram standing there.
He had come to check why Priya is taking so long and hears the conversation between them.

"Nahi.. I mean I don't know you. Main aapse kaise help le sakti hun?"
(No.. I mean I don't know you. How can I take help from you?)

Ram smiles, comes and stands near Sai who immediately gets up.. Ram notices the tall girl and her strong persona yet somehow weakened by the events in front of her.

"Don't worry, I am the trustee of this hospital and I have the rights and means to do this. You don't have to pay me back. Just tell me what it is that you need"

Sai, unsure whether to accept it from a stranger, looks at him and Priya alternatively. But all she sees is genuineness and kindness in their eyes.

"Par main aapko badle main kuch de nahi paungi.. I am just a student"
(But I won't be able to give you anything in return)

Ram smiles and so does Priya.. he now senses how this girl is so similar to Priya. Strong, honest and sincere and one who doesn't accept help easily.

"Maine kab maanga aapse kuch? I told you na I have enough."
(And when I have asked you anything for it)

Sai begrudgingly informs him of the injection, Ram calls Adi and gets it arranged.
All this while, Priya has been noticing Ram admiringly, Ram realises it and a faint blush appears on him.

"Vaise.. ye meri wife hai.. Priya.. aap ke jaisi hi hai. Aise hi kisi se help nahi leti… mujhse bhi nahi" Ram mentions in an attempt to lighten the atmosphere.
(Anyway, this is my wife, Priya. She is also like you. Won't accept help from anyone. Not even from me!!)

Priya rolls her eyes at Ram, inviting a chuckle from both Sai and Ram.
Sai’s chuckle makes both of them look at her again and Priya instinctively reaches her hands.
"Don't worry, sab thik ho jayega.. Mr. Kapoor hai na"
(Don't worry, everything will be alright. Mr. Kapoor will make sure of it)

Sai, surprised at the salutation, innocently asks her, "Aap apne husband ko Mr. Kapoor bulati hai??"
(You address your husband as Mr. Kapoor?)

It's Priyas turn to be surprised now, but before she can ignore the question, Ram answers.. "vo hamari thodi unconventional shaadi hai… we didn't want to get married.. par karni padi".
(We had a unconventional marriage, we didn't want to get married but had to!)

Sai immediately responds,"Same here" but then the reminder of the circumstances of their marriage brings out her sobs once again.

Ram looks at his watch and tells Priya, "Abhi meeting shuru hone main waqt hai.. if you want, sit with her and I'll go ahead"
(There's still some time for the meeting, sit with her)

Priya nods and sits down with Sai.
"Agar chaho to share something with me. Mann halka ho jaata hai"
(If you want, you can share with me. You will feel better)

Sai contemplates whether to talk with a stranger but something in Priyas eyes tells her that she can trust this kind woman.
Sai tells her the story leaving out some pieces of information but tells her about her kidnap and Virat's injury. She mentions that the family has asked her to stay away right now.

Priyas expression changes all through it. She wonders at her situation and that of Sai. Both married in a deal marriage yet with such different circumstances. Just then Ram calls her for the meeting. Priya manages to take Sai's number and goes off.

By the time they return, Adi has arranged the injection and Ram informs Sai.

Sai thanks him profusely and asks "Meri ek request hai aapse… kya aap hi jaake de sakte hai… vo unke gharwale nahi chahte ki main unke pass jau"
(Can I request you something? His family members don't want me to go near him. Can you go and give this injection yourself?)

Ram understands and goes to Virat's room while Priya waits with Sai. Looking at Sai and seeing her condition, Priya takes her to the cafeteria and intimates Ram of their location.

Priya is worried for the young girl and wants to offer her sympathies. After much thought she says, "Ek baat bolu Sai, Tumne jitna kuch bataya hai usse lagta hai ki you reacted to whatever that was presented to you and while you might be wrong in not trusting him fully, you did help him. So don't take it to your heart, right now too, it is you who has arranged for the injection. Take this as a last gift for him from you and leave. How much ever you love a person, don't let him or anyone walk over you. Always maintain your self respect. Because at the end, that is all of you have for keeping your head held high”
(Can I say something Sai... It looks like you reacted to whatever was presented to you and while you might be wrong in not trusting him fully, you did help him. So don't take it to your heart, right now too, it is you who has arranged for the injection. Take this as a last gift for him from you and leave. How much ever you love a person, don't let him or anyone walk over you. Always maintain your self respect. Because at the end, that is all of you have for keeping your head held high)

Sai looks at Priya, through her tears but her words seem to have an intended effect. There is a glimmer in Sai’s eyes that Priya notices. She continues,

"I normally don't share easily but with you it's different, I don't know why? My father left my mother for another woman, he despises me but my mother raised me to be a strong individual. I am what I am today because of her and now Mr. Kapoor is another such person who respects me and my independence. You should too. Keep yourself first. If your husband truly loves you, he will come for you in spite of everything. It is a tough decision to make right now but this would be a saner one in the long run. Think about it and give me a call if you want. If you want, I can even arrange something for you in Mumbai with us".
Priya sits with her until Ram arrives and they both leave after gently reassuring Sai.

Sai contemplates on Priyas words and thinks about all the previous instances when she wanted to leave this marriage. But everytime she stayed back for the love she got from Aai, Devi, Samrat.
But today, proving how she never had anyone on her side, Sai resolves to put herself first. She thinks about Aaba and how she has put her dream on the backburner.

She looks at the retreating figures of Ram and Priya and decides that these two are her ticket to freedom. She runs to them and stops Priya. Priya turns to look at her and Sai says,

"Thank you for being so kind to a stranger like me. Aap thik keh rahi hai. It's time I put myself first. Par main aapse aur help nahi le sakti. I would like to come with you to Mumbai though. I will find something there. Ab mere liye is sheher main kuch nahi hai. Can I?"
(Thank you for being so kind to me. You are right. It's time I put myself first. But I cannot take more help from you. I would like to come with you to Mumbai though. I will find something there. There's nothing left for me in this city now. Can I?)

Priya and Ram share an eye contact and both realise that they believe this girl. Ram lovingly puts his hand on her head and says, "Of Course… Do you need some time or can you join us today?"

Sai rues, "Nahi kuch nahi… You might think I am impulsive but agar aaj yaha se nahi nikli to shayad phir kabhi nahi nikal paungi. I just need to say a final goodbye and I would be glad if you both can join me. "
(No.. I might seem impulsive but if I don't leave today.. I might never be able to)

They both nod and the three of them walk towards Virat's room.

Sai stands outside the door, puts out her palms on the slot in the door and looks at Virat sleeping peacefully. She prays to God to make him better and quietly sobs.
Priya puts her hand on her shoulders to offer Sai some strength while Ram looks at his wife lovingly, his respect for her and her benevolence increasing manifolds.

Sai debates whether to inform Pulkit but decides against it remembering Devi’s words. She picks up her stuff and throws a last glance at the door, walks off proudly with her new companions.

Sai Joshi towards a new beginning in her life.
And Ram and Priya with a new found admiration and respect for each other.
