Chapter 2: Meeting Mr. Kim
I didn't do much over the weekend. Honestly, Oliver and I binge watched Dead Files, and I always forget that I shouldn't watch that show alone. I always freak myself out and think that there are a millions ghosts in my apartment trying to get me. The fact that my neighbors are loud as fuck didn't exactly help but nonetheless I can't watch that show alone anymore.
Monday came and my boss asked me to help a few new people get the hang of the building. I was a glorified tourist at this point. On Friday though he called me into his office.
"You wanted to see me, Sir?"
"Yes, we have a new employee starting today and he will be here any minute. He is going to be replacing Tara as head of marketing."
"Oh finally...I was beginning to think that no one would take that position."
"Well I've heard some really great things about this guy; he's had some great experience over the years. We are really lucky to have him."
"Awesome, well then the typical tour then?"
"Yes, please. And if you would also get him settled down stairs...I don't want him to have to wait to get all of his access stuff. I want this transition to go as smoothly as possible."
"You go it." I smiled at him. "What's his name?"
Just before I coud get my answer, there was a light knock that echoed through the office. When I turned to see the man standing in the door way I forgot how to breathe. He was tall, platinum blonde, his shoulders were broad, and he was most definitely, undoubtable, thee most good looking man I had ever seen in my life. He was wearing a very clean cut, crisp suit that fit him perfectly. My eyes lingered over his lips, plump and pink, and his eyes were a pool of chocolate, so dark you almost couldn't see his irises.
Holy. Fuck.
"Am I in the right office?" He sang. Even his VOICE was attractive. I started breaking out into a sweat when my boss clapped his hands once causing me to jump at the sudden noise.
"Yes, yes you are!" He happily said walking over to the beautiful man at the door. He extended his hand and the man shook it smiling. Had I not been leaning into the desk I may have fallen over. "It is so good to finally meet you Mr. Kim."
"Please." He started holding up his other hand. "Jin is just fine."
"Ah, Jin. We really are so happy to have you joining the team." That's when he turned to me. "My assistant will be helping you through your first few days. I know it's Friday, so all that will be needed for now is the tour, a few minor details for access cards, and to show you your office."
Manager Lin (my boss) looked over to me with an expected look, but I was frozen. I was starting, obviously, and the younger man in the room with my mouth open shamelessly.
The beautiful man called Jin stepped forward a bit extending his hand to me. "It's nice to meet you."
I looked down to his hand and slowly reached out to grasp it. When I did an electrical shock when through me which allowed me to break from my trance. I gripped his hand the appropriate amount slowly shaking it. I swallowed hard as I looked into his eyes and responded. "It's very nice to meet you too."
He smiled big and I felt my heart stop. He let go of me and it was almost painful. I stood there still, until manager Lin cleared his throat.
"Why don't you start the tour now?"
"Uh...yes sir." I said. I turned towards Jin. "Follow me please."
The only thing I could focus on right now was the echo of my heels clicking on the floor as I made my way to the empty (other than a desk and chair) office next to mine. Oh...did I mention that? Yeah...this drop deal gorgeous man was going to be working within feet of me on the daily.
Fuck. Me.
Literally.
Get yourself together girl. Don't act like a fool.
Finally I turned to face him as I held out my hand opening the office door. "This is your office, Mr. Kim." I smiled.
He smiled in return and looked down. Is he shy?
"Thank you." He said. "But really...please call me Jin. Mr. Kim makes me feel old."
He stepped into the office looking around. He did look rather young to be in such a high position. "How old are you?" I asked unable to stop myself.
He turned to me with his smile. "26. You?"
Damn. I got him by a year.
"27."
He nodded. "So I should call you, Noona then." He said raising an eye brow as if asking me permission.
"If you'd like. I don't mind. My best friend calls me Noona too."
"Your best friend is a guy?"
"Yes. Well...kind of. He's gay, so...though yes he is a man, it's not romantic..."
OMG GIRL SHUT UP
"Ah. I see." He responded as he made his way to his chair. "Am I allowed to decorate?"
I laughed. "Of course; That's why it's so lame and boring now. We emptied it so you could bring your own taste into it. We want you to be as comfortable as possible."
"And you said your office is right next door?" I nodded. "Can I see?"
I swallowed thickly. Suddenly I became nervous to have him in my office. I've never been nervous to have anyone in my office. "S-sure."
We walked next door and I opened the door for him to enter. The first thing he walked to was the glass case that was hanging up on my wall. "What are those?"
"Decks of cards."
"Why do you have so many?" He asked as he studied each of them.
"I collect them." I replied. God, I hope he doesn't think I'm a weirdo. "My father taught me every card game he knew when I was little, and ever since if I found a deck I liked I'd get it. Eventually it turned into a hobby type thing. I have more at home too. I thought it would make me more interesting I guess."
He turned away from my display and looked at me. "What do you mean?"
I laughed nervously...this wasn't the conversation I wanted to have with him. "I'm not a very interesting person, so I thought I'd start collecting something to have a bit of a story to tell...I don't know, it's stupid."
"I don't think it's stupid at all. And I don't believe that by the way."
"Believe what?"
"That you're not a very interesting person."
I blushed at his words.
I.
Fucking.
Blushed.
WHAT? Since when do men make me blush?!
Before I had a chance to respond, my office door slammed open revealing the one and only man-bunny.
"Noona!....Oh...oh I'm sorry...I didn't mean to interrupt."
"It's okay Jungkook...it's actually good that you're here. This is Jin, he is the new head of marketing. Jin this is Jungkook, he will be your new personal assistant."
They shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. As they spoke I had to mentally tame myself and regulate my breathing. Being alone with Jin gave me anxiety. My heart felt like it was going to bust out of my chest, and I felt so light headed. I pondered whether or not my typical eggs and toast for breakfast was enough. I watched as Jungkook and Jin talked, and it seemed as if they would get along great. Jin was laughing at Jungkook and Jungkook as doing that thing where he taps his toe on the floor when he's nervous. Jungkook is only nervous when he wanted someone to be impressed with him, so he must be excited to work with Jin.
"Noona?"
"Hmm?" I hummed looking up to Jungkook. I looked behind him and Jin was gone. "Where did Jin go?"
"I directed him to the bathroom." he looked at me weirdly. "Noona, are you okay? You don't look normal?"
"I'm fine, Kookie. What is it you wanted to tell me?"
"Actually, I was going to tell you that the new guy was here...but you already knew."
"Oh, Jin?"
"Yeah...and did you notice how fucking hot he is?" He said fanning himself with his hand.
I giggled. "You think so?"
"Are you kidding? If I didn't have Hobi I'd be a drooling mess. Lord help me."
I laughed again but our conversation was cut short when Jin walked back into the office.
"Well, Noona." He smiled. "Are we going to continue our tour?"
I nodded and motioned for Jungkook to leave. As promised I lead him around the entire building, showing him all the important places such as the café, the coffee place, and the relaxation lounge. We were able to get all his access passes registered and activated, and before the day was over we made our way back to Manager Lin's office.
"Ahh welcome back. What do you think of our corporate office Jin?"
"I love it." He smiled. "It's beautiful, very modern, and the people are impressive." He said as he looked towards me. "I am very excited to start work."
"We are too. But don't forget your first week here will be you learning the ropes. No real work until the following week, is that alright?"
"That's fine, sir."
"Perfect, Well Miss I think it's time for you to go home for the weekend."
"Thank you, sir."
I turned my heel starting to walk out the door desperate to get as far away from Jin as possible. For some reason he just made me feel...weird, but not 10 steps later did I feel a hand on my shoulder and heard a sultry voice speak.
"Wait, Noona!"
