❁Chapter Two❁

"He's great, I mean like- have you seen him?" I meowed as I admired Pebblewhisper from afar.

"Dande!" Sorrelfoot hissed, "I know your brain is the size of a flea's, but I know you have enough common sense to quiet down."

"Come on, Sorrel!" I whined, "They won't find out, only you know and you're the only cat who'll ever know."

"I think that you should be focusing on something else." Sorrelfoot meowed, I noticed her tail pointing to Lightningripple departing from Foxstone and Pebblewhisper to scan the camp.

I assumed she was searching for me in order to tell me whatever she found out about us and our future so far non-existent kits.

I'll love them with all my heart anyways, I'll be their father after all. And they'll be my kits. Or even if there's only one kit, I'll love that kit.

"Dandelionbreeze!" I heard a high-pitched, squeaky voice call out.

There was Lightningbreeze with Harestar not that far behind trudging towards me. Of course, all of this has to happen.

"Dandelionbreeze!" Lightningbreeze greeted my sister and I, "Sorrelfoot!"

"I found out more information. Harestar wants to tell you."

Harestar purred and looked at me, "We're still deciding when you'll have your kits. Right now we're working on thinking of nursery things and the we'll decide." She meowed, her tail pointing straight up.

"Thanks." I mumbled, "I'm sure StarClan is very happy with you all right now."

Harestar opened her mouth to say something but then closed it and walked away towards the medicine den, she didn't seem injured so there's a chance it was to get a drink of water or to discuss something private.

"Dandelionbreeze!" I heard a booming voice call to me, it had been Sunstar heading my direction with Pebblewhisper.

"We're going on a border patrol for sunhigh." He explained, "The hunting patrol is about to leave and I'm ready to go ahead and get going now."

Without waiting for my response he turned away, I found sent orders so I called out goodbye to my sister and mate.

I noticed Sorrelfoot mouthing out the words 'good luck' to me, probably something to do with Pebblewhisper.

Sunstar's in the way of us, he should go. It could just be Pebblewhisper and I. We could stay out of camp and explore beyond the borders and when we go back we'll say that someone had messed up the border marking and we got lost beyond it.

"Well come on Dandelionbreeze. I understand you must be wondering when you and Lightningripple will be having your kits, but that's nothing to think about now." Sunstar strictly meowed, even causing an obvious shiver to go down Pebblewhisper's long gray fur.

I quickly nodded and carried on with Pebblewhisper who'd shot me a quick glance before he realized I had seen him look my way.

He had quickly turned away and turned his attention back to marking the border with Sunstar.

"I hate border patrol..." I mumbled, my words unable to be heard.

As we walked and marked I shivered as a dark cloud that had been floating hovered overhead of us like a gray fluffy queen.

"Less talk-o more walk-o." Sunstar awkwardly meowed as she tried to sound clever.

Pebblewhisper dragged his bright tongue against his thick gray pelt and then bolted his head up.

"I was once hunting by a twoleg nest and heard some one say taco..." He innocently said.

"I don't know what a taco is, and I don't want to know. Just keep being you, Pebblewhisper." Sunstar loudly sighed, tail lashing.

I watched as Pebblewhisper tilted his head without a word, but then continued with the border marking.

I opened my mouth to alert an unfamiliar cat scent, but Sunstar beat me to it.

"Be quiet." He silently hissed, "MossClan cats, 5 of them."

Pebblewhisper and I were quick to react, we all formed a circle, out front half facing out and out back hips touching.

Our ears were back and our lips pulled up to expose our teeth.

"Why do you think they're here?" I loudly asked, too loud. I then realized my mistake as I heard an unfamiliar voice respond to my question.

"For apart of your territory, that is." I saw as four, not five cats leaped down from a tree, they seemed calm and approachable.

"Dande." Cloudwillow smirked and winked at me, we had always been good friends. We used to always talk, but after he confessed his love to me I had already had feelings for Pebblewhisper.

"Ignore Cloudwillow." A a dilute calico she-cat meowed, obviously an apprentice, I had seen her at a gathering but I didn't know her name.

"Maplepaw!" A light ginger spotted tom snapped at the young she-cat, his yellow eyes were firm and his look intimidating.

The she-cat got into a stance, appearing as though she was ready to fight back, her tail flicking. "Lynxspots, leave me alone!"

"Am I the only responsible cat here?" A brown and white splotched she-cat meowed, her broad shoulders properly upright and her green eyes showing annoyance.

"Car-" Cloudwillow was cut off by Carp's tail going into his mouth.

"None of them seem very mature." Pebblewhisper whispered to me, his eyes darting back and forth between the four bickering cats and back to me.

I felt a tingle in my heart, spreading through my blood and bones at the yellow-eyed tom spoke to me.

"I love you." I meowed, that's when all eyes turned to me, "Trees! I love you, trees! Just so beautiful! Yes you guys work those leaves!"

"You're weird." Maplepaw bluntly meowed.

Sunstar interrupted every cat, "Why are you here?" He asked.

"Oh yes." Carp gently answered, "Our leader has sent us here for catmint. We didn't go to camp because we knew a patrol would be out so we've been waiting."

"And why do you need catmint?" The golden tom questioned the four.

"Our medicine apprentice, Littlepaw has greencough. Fallingstar and Sheepleap have it too." Carp sadly meowed, nodding her head.

"We only have enough stock for one cat and the last of our stock is out. Your Clan is closer to us than DuskClan is, would you be willing to open your hearts and lend us some?" The splotched she-cat asked.

"Dandelionbreeze! Pebblewhisper!" Sunstar called to us, hurting our ears.

"Take these cats back to camp and get them catmint, if we're close to out then go out and get them some if enough is growing in gardens." He demanded.

"Will do!" I happily, yet fakly chirped. I hate all uppercatsmen. They're all so terrible.

We led them back to camp, as we led on their way and I saw Pebblewhisper to my right. A very handsome tom-cat. The cats behind us just chatted among themselves.

"Dandelionbreeze, you seem sick." Pebblewhisper admitted once we arrived to the camp entrance, "Let me take them. I think you should take a walk or let some stress out."

Well of course. I was nervous from Pebblewhisper. I don't want to love toms, I don't. But this is what StarClan is doing to me.

I depressingly turned away from the crowd and headed to where I saw Nightslip, a black she-cat sitting alone while on our way over here. She had seemed sad.

"Nightslip?" I gently approached the she-cat who was laying in a hollow tree stump.

"Dandelionbreeze?" She meowed.

"What's wrong? I won't tell anyone." I replied.

That's when she sat up and poured her feelings out, "I want love. I'm not aloud to have a mate, they say I'm hideous and don't deserve it."

It all just happened so quick, she was sad. I had to do something. I wanted to love she-cats and here was a she-cat who wanted love in her life.

I looked into her amber eyes and let my words leave my body.

"You know it doesn't have to be this way."
