First Encounter((Editing))
My senses were always enhanced, not that I was complaining. I am a slayer, one who is being followed.
I pretend not to hear the footsteps and instead of going to my apartment; I lure my stalker towards my secret killing alley. Once I am there, I turn around to face my stalker. It is the handsome stranger, and he doesn't look surprised at all that I caught him out.
Now that he is in front of me, I could see he has nice green eyes and I have to look up to meet those eyes. He is tall, but then again every other vampire that faces me was. I am 5'2 and this guy looks to be about 6'3. I definitely look like a kid in comparison to him.
"Are you always this rude?" He asks smirking.
"Always." I snarl, whipping out my stake before assuming a fight position.
He's not human.
"I only want to talk," he says, putting up his hands.
"Well, if you truly know about me, you know that I don't talk with your kind," I reply to which the asshole just smiles at me.
"Oh, I know. That is why I didn't come unprepared. I am quite strong, which means I can make you stop and listen. I won't do that, so just put the stake down and let's talk like two civilized adults."
"Fuck you!" I retort, angry at the condescending tone that he used to speak to me like I was a child. Just because I was short didn't give these assholes the right to talk to me like that. He definitely didn't seem surprised at my use of expletive language as he just smirks.
"Fine the hard way it is," he says.
With unbelievable speed, and before I could react or even see him move. He pushes me hard against the wall with such strength that has me dropping to the floor, my stake falling out of my hands with a clatter.
He grabs me again roughly and pins me up against the wall.
"You are not a slayer. You belong with us."
I snicker at the stupidity of his words. "Oh silly me," I reply with sarcasm.
"Why do you think you are the youngest slayer able that can kill vampires?"
"I can't defeat you," I say a little annoyed that I had to point out that fact.
He smirks. "That's because I'm not the weak ass vampire you are used to dealing with. There are a few vampires like me."
"How lucky for me," I say sardonically.
"You have been, believe it or not. I could further prove to you I am stronger by biting you into submission. I am trying to be nice."
"Don't bother, I won't listen to you either way," I reply still trying to pry him off me, but he doesn't budge.
"Would you listen if I mention that I know something about your parents?"
I stop struggling and stare at him. "Only if you tell me who killed them," I bargained with him, hoping he would.
"In time, however the first thing I'm going to tell you is that they weren't your actual parents."
"Liar!" I shout indignantly. I struggle against him yet again.
"I'm not lying princess." I stare at him and stop fighting, I have to admit he did have my attention now.
* * *
I lean against the glass of the car and stare out the window as the vampire drove. The inner voice that always warned me against believing a vampire this easily was screaming obscenities at me.
I stare at the Nathan guy who had a small point. He was clearly stronger than me and overpower me easily. If he was out to kill me. I would have been dead already. I had become reckless and by the time I paid attention to where we were going. We were driving away from Manchester towards the countryside. The city becomes barely visible the further we went.
I sigh and close my eyes. It is not weird vampires living out in the woods. It is more secluded and private for them. What is weird for them is the need for a car. It was faster for them to just run. I have a small suspicion that the only reason he was using a car now was so that he wouldn't have to carry me and I am not complaining.
Eventually, Nathan stops the car outside two big metal gates. I sit down straight and see how he rolls down his window leans out towards a little box and type in a code. There are five vampires just standing by the gate a chuckle escape my lips as I study each and every one of them.
There's a chubby redhead vampire, who's dressed all in black leather, there was one that the clothes were loose on him, he looks anorexic, but his light brown hair is perfect, so it might just be his physique. One of the five looked like a model and he was more familiar to me with his light blue eyes, blonde hair, clothes so tight you can make every muscle in his body.
When I went back to look towards the front, the Nathan guy is staring at me through the review mirror curiosity very clear in the look. My mouth drops open as he drives onward. As we reached the compound, a set of guards was there waiting for us. The place was hugely covered in green and luxury. I stare at the castle that waited in front of us.
"kind of cliche. Don't you think?" The vampire didn't say anything. "Vampire living in a castle in 2019." That earned me a chuckle. Although the outside looked like a castle the inside of the garage is a library-style garage the garage itself is bigger than my little apartment. Must be a really expensive garage to house multiple motors some modern whilst there were one of two that were vintage.
Nathan gets out of the vehicle and this guy literally blurs through my vision. On my hunting, I am able to see vampires, but Nathan was like a lightning bolt. When he opens the car door a gasp escapes my lips. He walks in front of me after I get out and walks us out of the garage. Even though I have a small feeling, this is not a trap. I am still on edge.
We stop by an entrance that's still surrounded by more stationary vampires, no guns, or anything. They don't need weapons regardless. Exaggerate much? These vampires lower the head towards me yet again in a sign of respect. If they didn't look so serious I would think they were making fun of me.
I roll my eyes at them and follow the vampire inside the house. The Inside of the house had an English Tudor, the foyer had a lovely turret staircase that would accommodate a small country at the foot of it.
A polish wood floor and graceful banister that curves up towards a soaring second-floor gallery. Persian rugs covered carpet. There's not a sign of dirt in sight. Everything is clean, polish, and in their place. Everything in this luxurious residence speaks of high class. It makes you wonder how does this vampire makes so much money without working.
And even thou everything looks in its place it doesn't make this place feel like a home, it felt more like a museum. It felt cold and devoid of any feeling a normal house would have. The vampire that brought me keeps walking without waiting for me, reminding me that I am in a house full of vampires.
The Nathan guy stops in front of an arch that looks like a metal detector. I smile a little smugly as he passes through it, then turns to stare at me and I am glad my stake is made of wood and not silver or metal. As I am passing thru the guards on each side of the arch lower their heads towards me with respect. The metal detector beeps and the asshole has the audacity to smile at me crookedly.
"Weapons."
I glare towards the guard with hate. "The hell I will!" My personal driver leans towards me with a smug smile on his face. He put his lips too close to my ears for my liking and I fought the urge to punch him in the face. I did not like that type of proximity from a vampire it gave me chills. The bad kind.
"You want to know about your parents?"
"Yes. Not without weapons-"
"I'll give them back to you cross my heart.
"Yes because I should just take your word for it."
"Yes, you should. We have established that If I wanted you dead. You would have been already." I throw the stake to the floor and storm into the arch angrily.
The machine does not make another sound. The asshole chuckles at me walk again through the halls and pass three more security checks, putting me in a foul mood by the time we arrive at the last door.
"You know for big, bold, strong vampires you guys act likes scary-cats." There's no response just the creak of the hinges of the opening door and Natha's chuckle. Nathan leans against the door letting me go in first.
I sigh and walk inside what looks like an office curiosity gets the better of me and my eyes are glancing around. It looks like a sports fan decorated this office. The design is an old-world, with a luxurious throughout the large office layout. The ceiling is coffered, the cabinetry is custom built-in full with books, old weapons, and random pictures I turn to look at the vampire behind the large executive desk which Is clean devoid of personal effects, makes this office feel cold and empty.
The vampire that brought me here closes the door behind us with a heavy click, letting me know they had locked me inside of the room.
I turn fast towards the door with a glare on my face. I knew this was a trap!
"Relax princess. We do not wish to harm you." I turn to the vampire that spoke keeping the glare on my face. The vampire sitting behind the desk had turned towards me. He has a crooked smile in his face that makes him look younger. "Great job Nathan. Bringing the princess here without even a scratch on her or having to rough her up first." I turn and stare at the vampire who just smiled a soft smile and bows backing away from me and standing by the door.
"Look. I am not a princess. My name is Zoe-"
"Lehane." By the sure and imposing way in which he carries himself, he appears to be an older vampire. And not old like old in physical appearance but old like he's been around for centuries. On the outside appearance, he looks young to be about thirtyish. This guy is tall and has to look down to be able to keep eye contact with me. As if, even though his hair is short, he spent a few hours in a barbershop to get it to look just perfect.
His hair is the brown of aged mahogany, rich and deep, yet with the subtle hues only time brings. With each stride the perfect polish hair tumbles, reflecting the strengthening daylight in waves. His eyes are a washed-out green like he's cried too many times and the color ran. He has a beard that is nicely kept. I hated beards on guys. I didn't want to admit it, but it looks good on him.
This guy is wearing a white shirt, that I know for a fact, cost more than my own car. I have seen that same shirt on some of the stores I use to steal from. On top of the shirt, he has a brown leather jacket and dresses pants that look just as expensive.
The smirk that he has on his face, light up his features. "I know who you are, trust me. It's the time you know the real truth about your real parents."
"I just came because I want the name of the murderer."
His smirk grows bigger if that was even possible. "Don't need to look any further, princess. It was me." A gasp of horror escapes my lips. Without thinking, I run towards him and jump on the desk, sliding all the way towards him as I throw a punch this way."
