Angel For Christmas (Sabriel)
(Sabriel but there's some Destiel briefly too)
Sam and Dean were in the bunker on Christmas eve. There was no Christmas decorations, nothing. They hadn't celebrated Christmas in years...
Sam wouldn't lie and say he didn't miss it. It was a good way to forget what was happening in the world around them. But they'd just been too preoccupied with hunting lately...
Which is why when Sam woke up on Christmas morning and walked out to find a Christmas tree and decorations everywhere, he was definitely confused.
"Dude, did you do this?" Dean asked, already standing in the room looking at the decorations with confusion.
"No..." Sam said. "I uh...what?"
"If you didn't, then who the hell did?" Dean asked.
"Ask Cas?" Sam said.
"Cas?" Dean asked, and his angel appeared. "Do you know how this happened?"
Cas looked around at the decorations. "They have a trace of grace on them, it must have been an angel."
"Was it you?" Dean asked and Cas shook his head.
"I don't understand human holiday traditions," Cas said. Dean just looked back at Sam.
"Okay who the hell got into our bunker and gave us Christmas decorations of all things?" Dean asked.
"I don't know..." Sam said, looking at the decorations. The tree was decorated with a lot of candy canes...but he was dead, it couldn't be him.
Dean just gave an exasperated sound and went to walk through the bunker. Cas followed him and as Sam saw something he snorted behind them. Dean paused and looked at Sam.
"What?" Dean asked.
"Look up," Sam said, smiling.
Dean looked up and saw the mistletoe above his head. "Son of a..." He glanced at Cas who was looking at the mistletoe with confusion.
"Mistletoe is associated with a specific Christmas tradition," Cas said. "If two stand under it..."
"We don't have to," Dean said.
"But it's tradition," Cas said, before kissing Dean before he could react. Then he was pulling away and walking off as if nothing had happened. Dean was standing there frozen while Sam watched him with amusement.
"I...shut up," Dean said to Sam before following Cas.
Sam was left in the room alone. He looked around at the decorations again, noting that all the tinsel was gold...on top of the tree was an angel, but again the wings were gold.
"It can't be him," Sam muttered. "He was killed." So he walked off to follow Dean and Cas.
Cas was acting like nothing had happened while Dean was just being really awkward.
"Can you tell which angel it was Cas?" Sam asked.
Cas shook his head. "I do not believe they intend us harm though."
"But we can't just let this go," Dean said.
Cas nodded. "If I had to guess...I would say this was Gabriel." Sam froze at the archangels name. "It is his style, and many of the decorations seem to be hinting at him."
"But Gabriel is dead," Sam said, his voice strained. He'd liked Gabriel...
"Maybe not," Cas said, tilting his head. "He is the Trickster after all." Sam just sighed, and walked out of the room.
He walked into the library where the majority of the decorations were, sitting down in one of the chairs.
It had been years since Gabriel's death. He'd saved them from Lucifer but at the cost of his own life. Sam had liked Gabriel. There was something about the golden haired angel that just drew his attention, something he just couldn't shake from his mind.
Even years after his death, Sam still thought of Gabriel. He couldn't forget him. He...missed him.

"Cas?" Dean said. "Are we going to talk about what just happened?"
Cas tilted his head. "Why?"
"You kissed me."
"And? Is that a big deal?"
"Yes."
Cas gave Dean a confused look before shrugging. "What is there to talk about? I kissed you. I enjoyed it. I wouldn't mind doing it again."
Dean stood frozen, staring at Cas who stared back with those bright blue eyes of his.
"Cas you..." Dean started to say. Then he made an exasperated sound and stepped forward to kiss Cas again.
"But there's no mistletoe?" Cas said when Dean pulled away.
"Does there have to be?" Dean asked, and Cas smiled slightly as he shook his head and leaned forward to kiss Dean again.

Sam was still sitting in the library, now drinking a beer. He looked forlornly at the decorations.
"Dammit Gabriel why did you have to go and die," Sam muttered.
"Sorry kiddo, I didn't really have a choice."
Sam scoffed. Great now he was hearing voices.
"Oh I'm very much real."
Sam narrowed his eyes and looked up, and saw a short golden haired man standing there, a smirk on his face and a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Gabriel..." Sam whispered, standing up to face the angel.
"That's my name, don't wear it out," Gabriel said. "You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you missed me."
"Shut up," Sam said.
At that moment Dean and Cas walked back into the room and saw Gabriel standing there.
"You bitch," Dean said, reaching for his gun, which Gabriel immediately flicked out of his hand.
"Hey, all I did was bring a little Christmas cheer," Gabriel said. "And last I checked, I saved your sorry asses." There was silence as Dean glared at him. "Besides...I put the mistletoe there." Dean made a choked sound, glancing at Cas beside him.
Sam looked between Dean and Cas. "Did I miss something?"
"Yep," Gabriel said. Dean made a noise and then turned on his heel and left the room. Cas looked between Dean and Gabriel before deciding to follow Dean. "They're totally together now."
"It was going to happen eventually," Sam said.
"Wow, even you saw it," Gabriel said. "So how are you kiddo?"
Sam just shrugged. "Hey uh...thanks for the decorations."
Gabriel smiled at that. "No problem. Even I could tell you wanted Christmas."
"...Were you watching us?"
"Ah Sammy, I've been watching over you two for a while."
"Why?"
Gabriel just smirked, taking a step closer to Sam. "Why do you think?"
"I really have no idea, you're unpredictable," Sam said.
"Oh am I?" Gabriel said, taking another step closer to Sam. Sam could reach out and touch him now if he tried. "So I guess I should do something really unpredictable right now."
"Probably," Sam said. "What are you going to do?"
"If I told you then it wouldn't be unpredictable," Gabriel said, smirking.
"Well then do it," Sam said. Gabriel just smirked more before stepping forward, grabbing Sam's collar and pulling him down into a heated kiss. Sam was shocked for a second before responding, his hands moving to Gabriel's hips to pull him closer.
Gabriel pulled away too soon. "Weren't expecting that were you?" he said with a smirk.
"Nope," Sam said before leaning in to kiss Gabriel again, to Gabriel's surprise. He didn't object however, and stood on his toes to give Sam a better angle.
"Why Sam, I didn't know you felt that way," Gabriel said.
"Shut up," Sam said, kissing Gabriel again. "You were dead. You were gone..." Gabriel gave Sam a confused look.
"You actually missed me?"
"Yes I did you jerk," Sam said, his grip tightening where his hands were still resting on Gabriel's hips. "I don't know why, I shouldn't, but I did..."
Gabriel just smiled softly. "I was watching over you two because I didn't want anything to happen to you Sammy. Couldn't have the hot Winchester dying on me, now could I?"
Sam laughed slightly. "You've been here this whole time...you're a jerk."
"You've tried to kill me multiple times," Gabriel pointed out.
"Dean tried to," Sam corrected. "I didn't really want to..." Gabriel smiled, kissing Sam again, softly this time.
"This is why I always liked you better," Gabriel said.
"Gabriel..." Sam said quietly. "Gabe...stay?"
Gabe looked conflicted for a moment before his gaze softened. "Of course kiddo. Only for you." Sam couldn't help but pull Gabe into a tight hug in that moment. Gabe smiled into the hug. He always did have a soft spot for the younger Winchester.
"Merry Christmas kiddo," Gabe said quietly. He snapped his fingers and suddenly they were in Sam's room, sitting on the bed. Sam didn't let go of Gabe, so Gabe just snuggled against Sam's chest, getting comfortable. Sam looked at him with a kind of surprised look, but definitely didn't complain.
"Thank you Gabriel," Sam said softly. "For you know, not being dead."
"I try," Gabe said, chuckling. Sam smiled then, holding his angel closer. Because really, that was all he'd wanted for Christmas...he'd just wanted his angel back.
