Nightmares

---

Dean-

I was running. I was always running. I couldn't tell where I was going but it all seemed like one big circle.

"Dean!"

I whipped around again to see Cas behind me, clumsily tripping as he tried to keep up.

"Come on! We have to keep going! We have to keep running, baby!"

"From what, Dean?! Do you even know what's chasing you?"

"No! I don't! But please, Ca-"

As always, an angel blade was then shoved through his stomach from behind. As always, I screamed his name. And, for the first time, Cas fell forward into my arms.

No! I'm supposed to wake up now!

"Cas?! Cas, no!"

I leveled my eyes white the thing that had stabbed him, to find my eyes blinking back.

"No.. I-I.."

"You killed him, Dean Winchester." The other me spun the bloodied blade in his hand. "You've always been killing him."

"No! No! Cas, please!"

The scene changed, and I recognized where I was. This was also frequent. I was back in the room with the angle tablet, Cas towering over me.

"Please, Cas! This isn't you!"

"This is me, Dean Winchester. You are my weakness. I must rid myself of my weakness."

"Cas! I know you're in there! Please!"

"Oh I'm in here all right.." He knelt down in from of me. "I was corrupted by you humans. By you germs."

"Cas, no. Please no."

"You're funny. You're all so funny."

He grabbed my cheeks and turned my neck so fast he almost broke it. I was now looking right at Sam's dead, broken body.

"NO!! Sammy!" I screamed. "Cas.."

"My name is CASTIEL!!"

He pushed my face back towards him, and plunged his angle blade into my heart.

-

I sat up, panting. My face was wet from sweat and tears.

"Dean?!"

Cas was sitting at the end of my bed, a worried look on his face. I couldn't think about anything but my dream, and I scrambled away from him.

"Stay away. Stay away!" I slapped back his hand.

"Dean, w-what-?"

I knew I should trust him. I couldn't think, and I jumped off the bed and pointed my angle blade at his chest.

"Dean! It was just a dream. You're alright."

"Where's my brother?!"

"Dean, calm down."

"WHERE IS MY BROTHER?!"

The door swung open and Sam rushed in, his hair a mess and his eyes bleary.

"Dean! Put down the angle blade. Calm down. Please Dean. It was just a dream."

I looked quickly back and forth between the two, then slowly lowered my arm. The angle blade clattered from my hand onto the floor. Cas's arms wrapped around me as I fell into him.

"It's alright Dean. You're okay." Cas ran his fingers through my hair and we sat back down onto the bed.

I was shaking, feeling weak and stupid, and clinging on to him as if my life depended on it. I heard the door shut behind Sam and I totally lost it. I was sobbing, shaking, the only think I knew from sure was happening was Cas whispering in my ear. He pulled the blanket around my shoulders and lay me back in the bed.

"It's okay, Dean. I'm here."
