At Last
Dean pulled Cas closer to him as the music began and the two of them started to sway.
"I know we've been through a lot to get here, but Cas... I wouldn't trade it for the world. You mean the world to me and I love you more than I can even understand. Knowing you... it's the best thing that ever happened to me." Cas smiled up at Dean and Dean felt a warmth spread through his chest.
"Dean, I've loved you since the first moment I saw you. You might have made me wait, but I would have waited an eternity for you," Cas said softly. Dean leaned down and kissed Cas softly.
"You made an honest man out of me, Cas. I don't know how, but you did it. You came in with your messy hair and your crappy taste in cars and you swept me off my feet before I even noticed. You sneaky little shit," he added, laughing. Cas smiled, his eyes sparkling in the way Dean found irresistible. They both leaned closer, drinking each other in. After so many years, it was a miracle they'd ended up where they were. But here they were, and neither of them could quite believe it. Dean was wondering how he ever could have thought he didn't love Cas, and Cas was wondering how he'd been lucky enough to catch the attention of Dean Winchester.
"Tomorrow we have to save the world," Dean said. Cas rested his head on Dean's shoulder.
"Let's not think about that right now. Whatever happens tomorrow, it doesn't matter until then. Tonight we should just be with each other," he said. Dean smiled. He could do that. The two of them stayed there late into the night, sometimes talking, sometimes merely drinking in each other's presence. And whatever had happened before, and whatever would happen the next day, for that moment, they were in love, and it was perfect.
