Dean sat poised on the end of his motel bed, flicking a bullet between his thumbs.
Sam had left to chase a lead for their current case leaving Dean bored. Suddenly there were three small taps on the door.
The door flung open and there stood Castiel, bloody and bruised from head to toe.
'Cas?! What the hell happened?' Dean fussed, bringing him inside and sitting him on the vacant bed.
'The other Angels,' a tear falling down his red cheek, 'they're angry.'
Dean hurried to the bathroom, grabbing a bowl of water and the first aid kit.
'Lets get you all fixed up then.' He began.
'Too bad I can't heal anymore huh.' Cas tried to laugh but all he could do was cry.
Deans fingers fluttered over Cas' bruised cheek, brushing past his swollen eye and into his hair.
'I shouldn't have let you go out alone.' He mumbled, looking into the medical kit.
'It's not your fault.' Cas said almost immediately.
Dean began brushing the wet cloth over Cas' red knuckles, being cautious not to hurt him anymore than possible. Cas sat silently, his eyes wandering around the room. Trying to look anywhere but at Dean so it seemed.
'I'm sorry.' Cas whispered.
'What for?' Dean asked continuing what he was doing.
'Everything,' Cas began, 'i shouldn't have dragged you and Sam into this.'
'Me and Sam would do anything for you. You know that, right?' Dean swallowed.
Cas nodded his head, looking down at his hands.
Cas had been asleep for around three hours now, Dean sitting on the bed opposite him. He looked so peaceful. Dean stood up, taking off his boots and jeans. He then took off his jacket and walked into the bathroom,
'Dean?' Cas yelled a few minutes later.
'Yeah buddy?' Dean replied with a mouthful of toothpaste.
'Nothing, doesn't matter.' Cas smiled, laying his head back onto the pillow.
Dean walked back into the room, laying down on the empty bed facing Cas closing his eyes.
'Dean.' Cas sounded almost curious.
'Yeah?' Dean replied leaning his head against the bed frame.
'Do you ever regret meeting me?' Cas said rubbing his weary eyes.
'Never.' Dean replied instantly, 'do you ever regret meeting me?'
'Are you crazy?' Cas laughed.
'What's that supposed to mean?'
Cas turned away from Dean, still lying on the bed.
'I love you Dean.' He mumbled, almost silently.
He had thought Dean must have not heard him, but to his surprise turned around to see Dean now sat straight up on the bed, staring at him.
'What?' Dean stuttered.
Cas stayed still, unable to read Deans current emotions.
'Are you mad?' Cas uttered.
'No!' He began, 'I just never thought you felt the same way.'
Cas sat up on his bed, staring into his bright green eyes, 'you love me?'
'Of course I do.'
Dean stood up from the bed, walking towards Cas, sitting down beside him without saying a thing.
'Good.' Cas whispered, turning to face him.
Dean pressed his lips against Cas', running his fingers through his hair. They were unable to let go, the kiss was so long over-due, even with Sam giving obvious hints towards each of them. Sam has always known. Always.
Their lips parted only millimetres from one another, Cas' breath warm on Deans cold freckly face.
They laid down beside one another, Dean ensuring to be gentle due to Cas' injuries.
This was the first of many nights they would sleep side by side, finally happy.
