98. El-LOVE-ator
._.__.~Cas's POV~.__._.
I was new to this small town, and I had gotten an apartment room. I was a bit jittery at the thought of such new surroundings, but I told myself it was for the better. My girlfriend, Meg, died a couple months ago. I couldn't stay in our old apartment without killing myself, so I decided to move.
I carried some of my boxes into the apartment building and decided to take the elevator. I'd normally take the stairs, but it felt like too much effort now.
I was in the elevator with one other person. And I knew things would get awkward because one, it was an elevator. Everything gets awkward. Two, I rented a room on the top floor, so it would take a while to get there. Not to mention I'm an awkwardness magnet.
We began our ascent. Floor one... floor two... floor three... BOOM! The elevator suddenly stopped. Oh shit. We were stuck in the damn elevator.
"Oh god. Oh no. Oh... kill me now." I muttered.
"Hey, don't worry," The other man tried to reassure me. "We'll be fine. These are kind of old elevators, they just glitch out from time to time."
"Ohhh, I knew I should've taken the stairs!" I set my boxes aside as proceeded to freak out. "Oh god, why'd I take the stupid elevator? Stupid elevator!"
"Well, hey, the elevator is sorry it dropped out of high school." He seemed to be joking, but who knows anymore?
"Not. The. Time." I practically growled.
"Just trying to lighten the mood."
"Who the hell are you, anyway?"
"Dean. You?"
"Castiel."
"Okay, Castiel. Now would you calm the hell down?"
"I'll calm the hell down as soon as I get the hell out of here!" I started pacing in the little space I had. Oh fuck, it was so cramped in there. So small.
"Don't worry. We'll get out of here. They'll call for someone to fix the elevator and they'll get us out. Okay?"
I sighed. "Whatever. I'm just... not a fan of getting stuck in an elevator."
"What, you think I'm having the time of my life here?"
"No need to get snarky."
I sat down against the wall on the left of the doors. I just needed to breathe. Breathe. Even though the walls were... closing in on me.
"You okay?" Dean asked, sitting down at the wall across from the doors.
"I'm fine. I'm just... freaking peachy."
"Could've fooled me."
I glanced over at him, this boy who seemed to think he could read me like a book. I could tell there was something off about him, but I couldn't put my finger on what exactly.
"So, let me guess, you've just moved in?" Dean asked.
"How'd you know that?"
"Well, the boxes full of stuff made it pretty easy to figure out."
I glanced over at my cardboard boxes and started to see his reasoning. "Yeah. I... I guess." I muttered.
"Where'd you move from?" He continued asking questions for some reason.
"Why?"
"Just making conversation. Might as well do something until they bust us outta here."
"Right. Good point. Chicago, actually."
"Wow. So, why go from Chicago to a tiny little town like Sunnydale?" (Yes, I realize I made a Buffy reference, but WHATEVER! I DO WHAT I WANT! ((I also realize I just made a Loki reference, but that's just how on fire I am 😘)))
I paused, not wanting to answer that question in the form of... Meg. "Fresh start. Trust me, Chicago isn't all it's cracked up to be. I had to get out of there."
"What makes it so bad?"
"I don't want to talk about it." I murmured.
He nodded in understanding. "Gotcha. Touchy subject," He paused, possibly trying to think of a new subject of conversation. "You like sports?"
I shrugged my shoulders slightly. "I watch a little football every now and then."
"College or...?"
I chuckled softly. "I grew up with a family that absolutely worshipped the Baltimore Ravens. Does that answer your question?"
"NFL. I'm more of a Redskins man myself. Also from my football worshipping family."
I scoffed, finding myself oddly offended. "Are you serious? First of all, the Ravens finished their preseason game with a 23-17 victory over the Redskins last season. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. I mean, when you think about it, all the Ravens have done this last season is kick Redskin ass! If you average up their total yards, rushing of course, the Ravens trump the Redskins by a landslide!"
"Cas-"
"And even after all the turmoil the Ravens have gone through, they're still going strong! I mean, Dennis Pitta's injury a couple seasons ago? He bounced back. And the deal with... Ray Rice. That hasn't even dented their performance!"
"Uh, Cas-"
"And you know what? They're not just a team. They're like... family. They work hard, play hard, and they roll with the punches. They're an honest team, which is more than what I can say for those damn Patriots! Don't even get me started! And the Steelers? That coach can kiss my-"
"CAS!"
I looked over at him, dead in the eye. "WHAT?"
There was a pause as I realized how... vigorous my argument was. I was getting a bit defensive, which was... weird to me. I didn't usually get so worked up over football.
"Oh," I murmured. "I... I didn't realize how... passionate I was about football. Huh."
"So... I guess you like the Ravens."
I scoffed. "Helluva lot better than your damn Redskins. Were you dropped on your head as a baby?"
"I don't actually like the Redskins. I just wanted to see how much you really liked football. I do that a lot. I thought you should know that."
"Yeah, well... just be glad you didn't say the Steelers. I... think I might've wailed on you a little." I chuckled.
He chuckled as well. "I never knew someone could be so... unbelievably passionate about football. I thought my dad was the only one."
I looked to the elevator doors and sighed. "Shouldn't they have busted us out of here by now?"
"Just give it time, man. We'll get out of here."
"I can't just keep waiting here. We'll never get out by sitting here on our asses."
"I bet they're gonna bust those doors open any minute now."
I sighed again, hugging my knees to my chest. "Yeah. Right. Any freaking minute now. Wake me up when this hell is over."
I closed my eyes, trying to relax. I hadn't been sleeping lately, due to Meg's death. I was driving myself crazy with guilt. I couldn't help but feel like it was my fault. But... it was.
I lost her by five minutes.
I jerked awake a little while later curled up on the floor. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes. "Is it over?" I groaned.
"Nope," Dean replied. "Still stuck."
"How long has it been?"
He hesitated before he answered. "An hour. Give or take."
"Great," I sat up, rubbing my eyes again. "Is it so bad to want to be free from the confines of this elevator?"
"Don't worry, we'll get out of here."
"He said, an hour after the last time he said that." I said sarcastically.
"Hey, man, they wouldn't just leave us stuck in here." He began to sound a bit irritated.
"How is this taking them an hour?"
"Just relax, Cas. Geez, what's got you so jumpy?"
"I don't want to be stuck in here! Especially with someone as irrationally optimistic as you!" I snapped.
"They will get us out of here, Cas. I promise yo that."
"Oh! You promise! Well thank god! I was beginning to worry!" I started breathing a bit heavily. The elevator was just too small. I think it was getting smaller.
"Cas, we'll be okay. It's just an elevator."
"But it's too freaking small!" I cried.
"What?"
"You heard me! The - the walls... they're just... closing in. Can't you tell? This elevator is getting so... small."
"Cas... are you claustrophobic?"
"Yes! Okay? I am! Fascinating, ain't it? Seeing a real, live, claustrophobic son of a bitch! Where rooms get even smaller than before!"
He got up and sat next to me. "Cas, you just gotta relax. The walls aren't closing in. You're not gonna die in here. You will be okay."
I couldn't keep myself from shivering slightly. I had to get out of there. I was getting dizzy and disoriented. The air was getting sucked out of me. And it wasn't long before I passed out.
._.__._.
I came to pretty soon after. I looked around until I realized my body was pressed against Dean's. I quickly moved away from him, looking him in the eye.
"That - that never happened, right?" I murmured.
"Cas... what happened to you?"
I scoffed. "What're you talking about?"
"No one can get that scared without a nasty backstory. What happened?"
I sighed, deciding to share my horror story. "It started as a kid. I... I found this... tunnel system over near the park. It was so cool," I chuckled softly. "Like a little maze I managed to figure out. Drew a map and everything. But... one day, I was near the center of the tunnels... when it just... collapsed above me. I was buried alive. I... I couldn't breathe, couldn't think, couldn't move. I was beyond terrified. It took them almost two days to find me. Nobody else knew about the tunnels, and that just about got me killed. And... it just... scarred me."
There was a long pause until Dean muttered, "Oh my god."
I scoffed, almost a laugh. "That's what most people say."
"That must've been horrible."
"And that's the second thing most people say."
"Cas, I'm so sorry, man."
"Huh. Don't usually apologize, though."
"Well that's not very neighborly of them."
"Who said they were neighbors?" I grinned.
He chuckled. "You know what I mean. I really am sorry, though."
"I didn't ask for sympathy."
"Well, that's what you're gonna get, so suck it up."
"I got enough sympathy from my therapists. I don't need you to do that, too. Just... leave it."
"Cas, I can't just leave it."
"No, you can. It's real easy. It's called 'shut up about it'." I started feeling irritated.
"Cas, you seem horrified by this. I wanna help."
"Well, I don't need your help." I shot back.
"I don't really believe you, y'know."
"Well, tough."
"Dammit, Cas! I know I haven't known you that long, but I still don't wanna see you like this!"
"Like what, Dean?" I snapped at him.
"Scarred for life, that's what like!"
"I still don't want your sympathy, Dean! I'm fine!"
"Cas, you're not fine! I can tell!"
"You can't just freaking tell! You've only known me an hour, and you can read me like a book?"
"That's not what I'm saying! God, you're so irritating!"
I jumped up, standing in front of him. "OH! I'm irritating?!"
He stood up as well. "That's right! I said it! It could be the elevator making us irritable, but you are so... so... irritating!"
"You're one to talk! I mean, look at you, Mr. They'll Get Us Out Any Freaking Second!"
"So it's bad to be a little optimistic? Is that it?"
"Okay, yeah, having a little optimism is fine, but when all hope is lost and you're the only one seeing the bright side, people tend to hate you!"
"I just feel like any minute now, something good is gonna happen, and we'll get out!"
"Are. You. Freaking. Kidding me?! So hopeful wishes and happy thoughts will set us free?!"
"We can't just be trapped here like rats!"
"Well, news flash, we are!"
"Oh. My. God! Will you quit being such a downer! My god, you're so negative, you make negative want to be positive!"
"Oh, shut up, you happy-go-lucky idiot!"
"Happy. Go. LUCKY?! You think I'm happy to be stuck in here with you?!"
"Well, I know for damn certain I'm in hell here with you!"
"Fine! Looks like we agree on something!"
"I guess we do!"
"I hate you!"
"I hate you!"
And in the heat of the moment, our lips suddenly connected, though I was unsure of how that happened.
Our hands were entangled in one another's hair, as we kissed with a burning passion. Our tongues danced in each other's mouths, and I savored the taste of him. There was the slight tang of whiskey there, and I didn't mind. But... why didn't I mind? I hated him! Oh, that's why.
I pushed him against the wall, our lips never parting. My hands were at his hips, keeping his body close to mine. I started slightly grinding against him, causing him to moan. My hands slowly moved to his ass, and I gripped it tight, causing him to moan again.
Was this really happening? Or... was it some really... really weird dream to help me get over Meg? I wasn't sure, but whatever was going on, I'd embrace it.
Unable to control myself, I reached down his pants and grabbed his-
"Oh, god!" He tried to bite his tongue, but was unable to. The pleasure was just too much. I made sure of that.
I slowly stroked him, feeling as he became even more hard. I grinned and gave a little squeeze, unable to resist.
I began to rub even faster, the pre-come slicking my fingers. I was loving this, every moment. I just hoped Dean was, too.
"Oh, god, faster!"
Oh yeah. He was enjoying it alright.
I began to pick up my pace, but only slightly. I had this part of me that had to hear him beg to me, crying out my name.
"Oh, yes!" He cried. "Oh, god, Cas!"
I grinned mischievously, licking my rather chapped lips. "You're just so damn cute when you beg."
I practically pounced on his lips again until I heard a voice behind me. "JESUS CHRIST, DEAN!" I quickly jumped away, hiding my right hand behind my back, facing the one who interrupted. "DOES THIS HAPPEN EVERY TIME YOU GET STUCK IN AN ELEVATOR?!"
I looked over at Dean, who grinned and said, "What can I say, Sammy? If you get stuck, you might as well-"
"GOD, NO, JUST, NOOO! GOD, THIS IS THE LAST TIME I RIDE AN ELEVATOR WITH YOU!" And he ran out.
"You weren't even riding with us!" Dean called after him.
"Who... who was-"
"Little brother. I feel obligated to... watch over him. We've been living together for a while now."
I nodded. "Oh. Hey, um... I think we should... keep in touch. I mean, we went from nearly ripping each other's heads off to... nearly sucking each other's heads off."
He smiled. "Yeah. I'd like to get to know the first guy who's ever given me a hand job."
We both laughed and exchanged numbers. I went up to my room with my boxes and a boy's cell phone number. Not bad, myself. Why, thank you, myself.
I decided to call Dean on my cell. "Hello?" He answered, sounding rather hopeful.
"Hello Dean."
"Cas." I could hear his smile.
"So... you want another hand job?"
"Meet me over here ASAP."
