Pestered By Families Part 2
Set in AU
Harvelle's Roadhouse hosted a couple's night every Saturday in February. Any couple that came to the Roadhouse for dinner or otherwise would get half off their meal, for the sake of love.
Which is why Dean and Cas went to the Roadhouse for dinner.
It was also to hang out with their friends Charlie and Jo, who were dating. Jo ran the Roadhouse with her mother, so Dean and Cas showed up a lot for the discount of being friends with the owner's daughter.
Couple's night was always fun. There was dancing, karaoke, music, the whole nine yards. Dean and Cas were having a great time.
Until Cas's parents walked through the door.
"Shit," Cas swore, freezing dead in his tracks.
"What?" Dean questioned, frowning. He had never met Cas's parents before. Cas's parents didn't even know they were dating.
...Cas's parents would want an explanation for why Cas was at a restaurant on a night especially for dating and married people.
And he couldn't exactly be there alone, could he? It would raise too many questions.
"My parents are here." He explained, looking terrified.
"Shit." Dean agreed, looking around.
"This is bad, this is bad." Cas declared. "What do I do?"
"Hide?" Dean guessed.
"For how long?"
"Maybe Jo could sneak you out the back!"
"Good ide-"
"Castiel?" A nasally voice asked. The amount of swears written on Cas's face nearly made Dean burst out laughing. But then Cas switched his face and turned to smile at the woman before them.
"Mother!" He said cheerfully. "What are you doing here?"
"I always see these couple's nights advertised," Cas's mother explained. "So I figured we'd come see what if was all about. What are you doing here?"
Panic. Sheer panic.
"He's on a date!" Dean declared, and Cas's mother whipped her head towards Dean.
"Yes!" Cas agreed. "You caught me. I'm on a date. Uh, this is my friend Dean. You remember Dean, right? My roommate?"
"Right," She offered. "The lumberjack. So, where's the lucky lady? I'd love to meet her."
"Of course," Cas's eyes widened and he scanned the room. "She's uh, right over there! I'll go get her, Dean come with me."
They ran off, and Cas whipped towards his boyfriend, looking terrified.
"What the HELL do I do now?" He demanded.
"We uh....." Dean scanned the crowd. "We need to get you a girlfriend." That made sense. Cas's parents didn't even know he was gay. But if they spotted him with a girlfriend, fake as it was, they would get off his back about dating, not suspect why he was at the Roadhouse, AND would never suspect that he had been secretly dating another man for years.
It would kill two birds with one stone, if Cas could pull it off.
So Cas and Dean headed for the one person they knew they could count on to act like a fake girlfriend.
"Charlie," Cas started. "I need a really, really, really big favor."
"Okay," Charlie offered. "What is it?"
"I need you to be my girlfriend." The redhead blinked.
".....What?"
"My parents are here," Cas explained. "And they don't know I'm gay, or that I'm dating Dean or- They don't know anything, okay! So I need you to pretend to be my girlfriend so that they won't suspect anything!"
"But what about Dean?" Charlie questioned.
"It's fine." Dean insisted.
"And Jo-"
"I can handle Jo." Dean proclaimed.
"Okay, then we only have one major problem left! Cas, you're gay as fuck, and I'm three times the rainbow you are. How the hell am I supposed to be your girlfriend? I don't know how to act straight!"
"Just be yourself," Cas advised.
"Buddy, if I be myself, your parents are going to wonder why the hell you think I'm straight."
"Then just act like a straight girl! I don't know!" Cas panicked.
"PLEASE," Dean begged. Charlie sighed.
"Fine." She grumbled. "Let's go."
Cas led Charlie away, and then Dean immediately went to the bar where Jo was, so he could keep her under control.
"Where's your boyfriend?" She questioned.
"His parents showing up, so I'm hiding while he covers his ass." Dean explained.
"Ah," Jo offered. "You know, your lives would be a lot easier if you just stopped hiding your relationship form your families."
"Yeah," Dean sighed. "I'm starting to think that too."
"Here we are," Cas insisted. "Mother, this is Charlie, my.... date." He blinked at the redhead and forced a smile. "Yep, that's right. She's my date."
"Nice to meet you," Charlie smiled casually.
"You too," Cas's mother declared. "Is this your first date?"
"Ye-"
"Nope!" Charlie proclaimed, cutting Cas off. "We've been out before."
"Oh really?" Cas's mother questioned. Cas gave Charlie a death glare, but she only smiled.
"Oh yeah, Cassie's my favorite," She wrapped an arm around him and Cas forced a smile.
"Wait a second," Jo's smile faded. "Why is Charlie over there with Cas and his mother?"
"Oh, uh..." Dean made a face. "Cas's mom wanted to know why he was here since it's couples night, so Charlie's pretending to be his girlfriend."
He cowered under Jo Harvelle's death glare.
"Castiel, why didn't you tell us you were seeing such a pretty girl?" His mother demanded.
"Well, uh," Cas stammered. "I dunno. I didn't want to hurt your feelings since I wasn't going out with anyone you recommended."
"Isn't that sweet?" Charlie grinned. "He's such a sweetie, this one."
"He really is." Cas's mother agreed. "Well, I won't ruin your evening. You two have fun."
"We will." Charlie confirmed.
"Yep, Bye mother," Cas declared.
"What, doesn't your girlfriend get a kiss?" Charlie questioned as they left.
"I owe you big time." Cas admitted.
"You owe me Big Time Rush big time, mister." They were interrupted as Jo appeared and shoved Cas away with a protective growl.
"Mama Harvelle is mad," Dean declared. "Abort mission. Time to leave."
"Got it." Cas agreed. "Jo, I'm really sorry-"
"Out!" Jo ordered.
"Run." Cas offered.
"Go, go, go!" Dean urged, and they fled the Roadhouse.
******
Cas let out a deep breath as they drove away.
"That was too close," He declared.
"Yeah," Dean agreed. "....You know though, this has kinda got me thinking."
"About?" Cas questioned.
"...What if I told my parents about us?"
"Dean."
"I know, I know. We've hidden it for so long and they'll be angry, but Jo had a good point tonight. We can't hid our relationship forever, Cas, and I know you're not ready for your family, so why don't we just start with mine?"
"Won't they be mad?"
"Of course they'll be mad, but I'll deal with that. Mom wants me over for dinner on Friday anyways since Sam and Jess are in town. Why don't I just bring you along?"
"...Are you sure?" Cas questioned.
"I'm sure." Dean confirmed.
"Alright, then let's do this."
******
"You're coming over for dinner Friday night, right?" Dean's mother questioned on the phone. "Sam and Jess will be there, and they've made all sorts of Wedding plans already,"
"I was actually meaning to ask you about Friday," Dean admitted.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, I was wondering if it would be okay if I brought someone to dinner."
"Someone as in a date? Are you dating someone?" Dean sighed and glanced over at the couch, where Cas was peacefully sleeping, a smile on his face.
"....Yes," He admitted. "He's my boyfriend."
"Well of course you can bring him! What's his name? Is he handsome? How long have you been dating-"
Dean hung up, figuring he'd answer all those questions when dinner finally rolled around.
*****
The ride to Dean's parent's house was quiet.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Cas asked. Dean half smiled.
"I'm just wondering what my family is gonna think of you."
"Do you think they'll like me?" Cas asked nervously. Dean grinned.
"Angel, they're going to love you." Cas smiled, hoping he was right.
******
"Dean's bringing a boy home," Mary proclaimed.
"No way!" Sam exclaimed.
"Apparently it's his boyfriend." She went on.
"I thought he wasn't seeing anyone," John insisted.
"I guess we were wrong,"
"It's too bad things didn't work out between him and my cousin. That's would've been fun." Jess declared.
"Or the grocery store boy! I could've gotten discounts!" Mary proclaimed.
"Guys," Sam offered. "Isn't the important thing that Dean had a boyfriend that HE likes?"
"Of course," Mary declared.
"Oh yeah." Jess agreed. "....I wonder what he's like."
"Hopefully not awful." John commented.
"Hey, Dean's always had good taste in guys." Sam insisted. "I'm sure this one will be no different."
As if on cue, there was a knock at the door.
"That must be them," Mary declared, opening it. "Dean!"
"Hey Mom," Dean smiled. Mary's gaze fixed on Cas instantly, and he offered a shy smile. "This is Cas."
"Well, it's nice to meet you," Mary proclaimed. "Come in,"
"Hey Dean," John offered.
"Sup Jerk?" Sam asked.
"Nothing much Bitch," Dean grinned. Cas smiled. He had seen pictures of Dean's family before, but it was different seeing him with them. "Cas, this is my dad, my brother Sam and his fiancee Jess. Guys this is my boyfriend Cas." Jess glanced up at Cas and her eyes widened.
"Holy fuck," She swore. Sam shot her a look. "THAT'S your boyfriend?"
"Yep." Dean grinned.
"Shit, he's hot."
"I know." Dean agreed, ignoring how offended Sam looked.
"Thank you?" Cas said awkwardly.
"Thank you," Jess countered. "No wonder Dean snagged you."
"Actually, he snagged me." Dean insisted.
"Yeah, but I'm the better catch." Cas grinned.
"Dinner's ready!" Mary called.
The meal went by more smoothly then either of them had expected. Dean's family learned more about Cas, and Cas in return swapped funny stories about Dean back and forth with Sam.
By the time dessert rolled around, Dean was grinning like an idiot, convinced that Cas had won over the whole family. He even helped with dishes.
"You've caught yourself a good one," John commented as Cas left the room.
"Yeah," Dean smiled. "I know."
"And you've been dating how long?" Sam questioned.
"Honestly?"
"Yeah." Dean smirked.
"A couple years." Sam and John stopped.
"But all those dates your mother set you up on-" John started.
"We've been laughing about then forever." Dean declared. "Cas's mother sets him up with girls, and Mom sets me up with guys, so we just swap horror stories back and forth."
"That's.... something," Sam insisted.
"Years," John echoed. "Don't tell your mother. She'll start demanding to know when you're going to marry him."
Turns out Mary didn't need to know how long they'd been dating to badger them about that.
*****
"Okay, that went great." Dean declared, as he and Cas left the house.
"Okay, just so you know," Cas offered. "Your mother asked me what my ring side was." Dean's eyes widened.
"What?"
"Yeah, and my favorite type of cake, where in the world I would most like to go on a romantic trip, my favorite time of year,"
"Oh dear gos, she's planning our entire wedding already."
"Yep. Good luck."
"Oh hell no, angel. You're stuck with me on this one." Cas's face fell.
"You mean now I have to put up with both our families nagging me?"
"Yep!"
".....CRAP!"
A/N: This idea popped into my head when I was half asleep, so I figured I'd share it.
Imagine that one day, you take your child to the park. And the kid comes running back to you a few minutes later with a cute little girl, who your kid says is their new best friend. Her name is Odette, and they want to have a playdate and a sleepover and be besties forever. So they drag you over to Odette's father so that you can set up a playdate.
And it's Jared Padalecki.
And you sit there and try not to freak out because oh my chuck, it's Jared Padalecki.
And then you realize how awkward it's going to be when he finds out your child's name is Sabriel.
