Family Dinner
A/N: In light of the fact that John Winchester will be making a comeback in season 14, I thought I'd write a part about how I imagine this delightful family reunion going down
After wrapping their minds around the fact that John Winchester was alive, and after John wrapped his head around the fact that Mary was alive and his sons lived in a badass bunker, John, Mary, Dean, Sam, Cas, and Jack ended up sitting around a table in the bunker, the Winchesters downing a lot more alcohol then they should've, but they needed it at this point.
Not a word was being spoken- they were all just staring at each other. Jack glanced around the table and he slowly leaned over to Cas, who looked slightly afraid at anything that might happen.
"Should we leave?" Jack asked innocently. "Cause I think we should leave them alone...." The poor child was completely lost at why the family was staring at each other with expressions that made it unsure whether they would hug or shoot each other.
"You can leave if this is too awkward for you," Cas insisted. "But I don't exactly feel comfortable leaving them all alone with loaded weapons."
"Okay." Jack replied, settling back into his chair. John slowly turned to look at them.
"Alright, first question." He began. "Who the hell are these guys?"
"Ummm," Mary said awkwardly, and Dean and Sam sighed.
"Remember how Mom always said angels were watching over me?" Dean asked.
"Yeah." John insisted. Dean dramatically gestured to Cas, who blinked in confusion.
"This is Castiel- we call him Cas. He's an angel." Dean explained.
"That's impossible. Angels don't exist," John countered.
"Currently, I think we're more classified as an endangered species." Cas corrected. "But it's true, and we do exist."
"...And why are you working with an angel? We don't work with monsters- we kill them!"
"Cas is not a monster," Dean growled. "He's family."
"Says who?" John demanded.
"Says me."
"Me too." Sam agreed. "Cas is our brother."
"He fits right in." Mary went on. Cas smiled sheepishly.
"And who's the kid? Another angel?" Team Free Will exchanged a glance.
"Um, actually, Jack is a nephilim." Sam offered. "He's half angel, half human."
"Soooo what? Is he Castiel's kid or something?"
"Yes," Jack admitted.
"Not exactly," Dean corrected. "Technically, he's Cas's nephew, but we've kind of adopted him."
"He's basically your grandson; just accept it." Sam declared. John raised an eyebrow.
"Okaaaay- next matter of business." He whipped his head towards Mary. "How long have you been alive?! HOW are you alive??"
"I've been alive for like two three years?" Mary admitted. "Apparently, God's sister brought me back to life because she owed Dean a favor or something?"
"She thought it was a nice way to repay me for setting her free, yeah," Dean agreed.
"Hold on; you've met GOD. And he has a SISTER?" John demanded.
"Yes, we've met God," Sam rolled his eyes. "His name is Chuck, he writes gay fanfiction and generally doesn't care what we do."
"His sister is Amara; she's a little weird and people call her the Darkness- we were friends? I think?" Dean frowned. "Not really sure what it was, but it happened, and now they're both on a vacation somewhere catching up or destroying a universe- we don't know."
John blinked.
"Believe it or not, that's one of the least insane things that have gone down since you've died." Sam admitted.
"And what about you?" John questioned, studying Sam. "How are you here? Dean, I gave you an order to-"
"Yeah, you told me to murder my little brother; GREAT LAST WORDS TO YOUR CHILD." Dean snapped. "And NO, I didn't kill him. He got stabbed inn the back, literally, and he died, but I didn't kill him."
"Dean and Bobby got me detoxed from the demon blood, so I'm fine now." Sam insisted.
"You DIED?" Mary questioned, this information new to her. The Winchesters facepalmed.
"Here's the short version, okay?" Dean started. "Sammy got killed- I sold my soul to a demon to get him back-"
"You WHAT?" John demanded.
"-So that gave me a year to live. When that year was up, I died and went to hell. Cas pulled me out of hell,"
"I gripped him right and raised him from perdition," Cas commented, causing John and Mary to give him a weird look.
"And then we found out that the angels wanted Sam and me for the apocalypse, so all that crap went down and we stopped the apocalypse by letting Sam get possessed by Lucifer, who we accidentally let out of his cage, but then Sam shoved him back IN the cage and was kinda used as a chew toy for Michael and Lucifer, along with- OH SHIT, SAM WE FORGOT ADAM."
"Did we?" Sam asked, sipping a drink. "I had forgotten." Dean paused.
"Who's Adam?" Mary asked. John, Dean, and Sam's eyes widened.
"Nobody!" They said in unison.
"ANYWAYS," Dean continued. "Sam lost his soul for a while, until I made a deal with Death to get it back-"
"You made a deal with DEATH?" John demanded. Dean shrugged.
"Yeah, he's actually pretty cool. We ate pizza one time, swap the names of good restaurants for the other to try- we're buddies."
"What the-"
"So then Sam got his soul back, but there were some complications so he went a little crazy, and Cas became God for a little while,"
"You did?" Jack questioned Cas covered his face with his hands.
"Worst mistake I've ever made," he muttered.
"And he released a bunch of Leviathans from Purgatory, so we had to kill them off, and that ended up getting me and Cas sent to Purgatory,"
"Where they totally hooked up and started dating," Sam whispered under his breath.
"What?" John asked, not having heard him.
"Nothing," Sam insisted. Dean glared dangerously at his brother.
"Sam also had an affair with a demon named Ruby once."
"WHAT?" John demanded.
"Says the dude who actually became a demon once!" Sam shot back.
"WHAT?" John repeated.
"They've also befriended the King of Hell, a powerful witch, a vampire named Benny, and a werewolf named Garth, who's kind of an idiot." Cas supplied.
"What the f-"
"John, relax, like you've never done anything stupid before."
"Dean also had the Mark of Cain and was stupid enough to get himself possessed by Michael." Sam went on.
"Sam was possessed by Lucifer AND Gadreel, and he nearly got himself killed doing the Trials in order to close the Gates of Hell,"
"Did that work?" John asked.
"No, we only succeeded in nearly getting Sammy killed, and then watching as all the angels fell from heaven and Cas became human for a while." Cas sighed.
"Some days I miss humanity," He commented. "For the food and the emotion, mostly, but I will never miss the bodily functions. So annoying, they are."
"Cas also got himself killed by the same chick who stole his virginity."
"Dean has died 112 times, and I don't know why I keep bringing him back." Cas retorted.
"I've died six times." Sam went on. "Cas has died five."
"I've only died once," Jack piped up.
"What the fuck happened after I died?!?!" John exploded.
"We're literally telling you," Dean insisted.
"And where did you get this freaking bunker!?!?"
"Your Dad told us where to find it, but he was killed by a Knight of Hell." Sam explained.
"I killed the Knight with a jawbone though," Dean offered. "So it all works out."
"It's a very complicated storyline; you just have to roll with it." Mary offered. John gaped at all of them.
"Screw this, I'm going back to hell," He commented.
"We can arrange that." Cas insisted. "I'll call Crowley."
"WHO THE HELL IS CROWLEY?"
"The King of Hell," Sam and Dean supplied.
"Who is also family now," Dean included.
"Why couldn't I have just stayed dead?" John asked.
"Because you're a Winchester." Jack explained. "Resurrection is kind of their thing."
