Cardigan Keep Away
A/N: I have three requests that are only halfway done, and yet, I couldn't resist this. Set after 14x15, but no real spoilers, so it's safe to read.
Pleasantville had NOT been pleasant.
AT ALL.
Cas glared at the road as he and Sam drove back to the bunker, pondering how someone could name such a horrific town something so innocent.
The whole town had been brainwashed by some psycho psychic, including Sam. The guy had ended up in a cardigan sweater, glasses, and a man bun, insisting that his name was Justin.
They both shuddered at the hideous thought of that.
And to top it off, Pleasantville had no cell service. None whatsoever. So Cas and Sam had been out of touch with Jack and Dean for about a week.
Naturally, that meant that the second they drove somewhere that received cell reception, their phones started blowing up.
Ten missed calls from Dean, three from Jack, eleven new voicemails and twenty seven text messages.
And that was just Cas's phone.
Sam's had ten missed calls from Dean, two from Jack, one from Mary, somehow twelve voicemails from Dean, and twenty six texts.
Cas glanced at his phone and promptly pulled the car over, dialing Dean's number immediately.
"So you're alive!" Dean said, half sarcastic and half worried. "Wonderful! Thanks for calling!"
"Pleasantville had no cell service, we apologize," Cas replied.
"How'd the hunt go? Was it witches?" Sam and Cas exchanged a glance.
"We wish," Sam muttered.
"It's....It's a long story," Cas offered. "We'll explain when we get back."
"Alright."
"How's Jack?"
"Fine, I think. Donatello says he's okay, so that's something."
"That's good,"
"So get this," Sam jumped in. "We found some rather....detailed love letters between the first victim and this girl from Pleasantville,"
"Okaaaay?"
"And Cas kept them. I think he enjoys rereading them." Cas glared at him and Sam fought back a laugh.
"Sam got brainwashed, had a man bun, and threw me out of a house for saying hell." Cas shot back. "I'll send you a picture."
"YES." Dean declared. Sam;s eyes widened.
"Please tell me you don't actually have a picture." He begged.
"You were wearing a cardigan and glasses. Of course I have a picture," Cas fiddled with the phone as Dean's laughter echoed through it. "AAAAAaaaaand, sent."
"I hate you."
"Understood."
*******
Dean was standing smugly in the bunker's main room by the time they walked in. Sam eyed his brother warily. With all the pranks they pulled on each other, he could only imagine what he'd do with that picture.
"Give me your phone," Sam ordered immediately.
"Why?" Dean said cheekily.
"So I can smash it and destroy that picture forever."
"Oh, you mean this picture?" Dean held up a printed copy of it, and it shone in the bunker's lighting. "I laminated it. Now it's indestructible." Cas grinned. Sam eyed his brother, and then snatched at the picture, but Dean moved away first.
"Gimme that picture," Sam warned.
"Hmmmm, nah." Dean grinned. The moose promptly charged at his squirrel brother, and Dean took off, sprinting into the library with a yelp.
The brothers faced off against each other, on opposite sides of the tables.
"Dean," Sam glared a bitch face, but it only made Dean grin wider.
"Cardigan Keep away," He declared, flaunting the photo and dashing back towards the main room while Sam ran after him. Dean yelled and shoved the picture into Cas's hands. "CAS! RUN!"
The angel 's eyes widened and he bolted down one of the hallways, Sam darting after him, Dean close behind.
They nearly trampled Jack in the hallway, and the kid looked bewildered as Cas looped back around him.
"What's going on?" He asked. Cas shoved the picture at him.
"Cardigan keep away! Don't let Sam get this! RUN!" He shoved Jack, who looked confused, then spotted the moose and immediately sprinted back down the hall, Sam after him.
Dean laughed as they ran off, leaving him with Cas.
"Now what?" The angel questioned, smiling.
"You head after them," Dean pointed down the hall, buzzing with adrenaline. "And I'll cut them off this way." They ran off, following the sound of Jack screaming. Whether it was playful or out of terror, they weren't sure.
But as Dean and Cas cornered the pair, Jack shoved the photo at Dean.
"TAKE IT TAKE IT TAKE IT!!" He screeched as Dean grabbed the picture and spun around to run. He was running back into ther library when he tripped on the step and promptly faceplanted into the hardwood with a thud.
Sam jumped on him a minute later, trying to pry the picture out of his brother's hand, which proved difficult considering Dean's vice like grip on it.
"CAS!" Dean called for help. Cas slid into the room and quickly accessed the situation before deciding there was only one logical move.
He hopped on top of the pile and tried to wrestle Sam's hands away from the picture.
Jack joined the pile up shortly after, and Cas was pretty sure they were going to crush Dean at this point.
"Just gimme it!" Sam screeched.
"NEVER!" Dean hollered. "Cardigan keep away!"
"Cardigan keep away!" Jack repeated, trying to get closer. Cas shoved at Sam's face, pushing the moose far enough away for Jack to lunge forward and snag the card.
"RUN!" Dean and Cas urged as Jack stumbled to his feet and took off once more. Sam rolled off the pile, trying to get up, only to have Dean tackle him to the floor in an attempt to slow him down once more.
Back and forth they passed the card, in a game of cardigan keep away that lasted for at least two hours. From Jack to Cas to Dean to Cas to Jack to Dean, all over again as they tired the moose and narrowly avoided Sam.
But eventually, Jack turned the wrong corner, and Sam grabbed him, literally picking the boy off the ground in a bear hug to get him to drop the photo. Jack let out a shriek, a mix of laughter and adrenaline fueled fury.
Sam got the picture.
"HA!" He shouted at him, holding it up triumphantly. "TAKE THAT!"
"It's still indestructible." Dean commented. Sam shot him another bitch face, found a lighter, and set it on fire.
They watched it burn, a little sad that the game was over.
"Ah, well," Dean grinned. "Until the next game."
"Next time, I'm getting an embarrassing picture of you," Sam declared.
"How many do you want?" Cas asked. "I've got a camera roll full of them." Jack laughed.
"This is my new favorite game," He insisted. "Cardigan keep away!"
Sam relished his victory for the rest of the night, until he finally headed to his room. He walked in, flipped on the light, and dropped onto his bed with a sigh before looking around.
His entire room was wallpapered in the picture.
"DEAN!!!!!!!!"
