That Idiot Dean
"No way!" Charlie whispered from behind a book. "You aren't serious."
"Dead serious, actually." Sam replied, also hiding behind a book.
They two were in the library, they were supposed to be studying. Since talking was banned, they hid in the farthest corner. That old bat of a librarian could still hear their hushed whispers. What started out as studying for an English test, turned out to be a full on conversation about Sam's brother, Dean.
"But he can't be! He's just so tough and...rugged looking. Dude rides a motorcycle for God's sake!" She said her voice rising, the librarian shushed her very loudly.
"I was as surprised as you are. And he's my brother." Sam couldn't hold back a smile. Charlie's eyes went wide for a second, then she took out her phone.
"I-I gotta tweet this! Or at least put it in my blog." She started typing frantically. Sam snatched her phone away. "Hey! Give it back!" She reached across the table for her phone.
"You can't just tweet something like that! Dean had a hard enough time telling me, he isn't going to to be thrilled about the whole university knowing." He finished saying just as the bell rung. They packed up their bags and Charlie snatched her phone back.
"Fine. I won't post it." She walked away hurriedly to her next period. Sam had the next 2 hours off. He decided to walk back to the apartment.
He opened the door, calling Dean's name out. He didn't appear to be home. Sam threw his bag on the table and flopped down on the couch. His phone started buzzing like crazy. Looking at his phone he saw that he had tens of hundreds of messages from kids around campus.
"Is what I heard about Dean true?"
"Is Dean really gay?"
"Dean's gay? Knew it." And so on.
Sam facepalmed. He knew he made a big mistake by telling Charlie, that girl could never keep her mouth shut about gossip. At that moment, Dean stormed in slamming the door behind him.
"What the hell, Sammy! I come out to you and now I have half the university up my ass!" He yelled, looking distress. Tears grew in his eyes while he ran both hands threw his hair.
"Oh dammit. Dean, I'm sorry. I just told Charlie, but I didn't think she would post about it." He apologized. Dammit, Charlie, he thought.
"Yeah well thanks for being so considerate, Sam." He growled sarcastically. "What am I gonna do? I can't go the rest of my last year here having every teasing me and asking me if I'm gay!" He bit his lower lip, holding back tears.
"Dean, it's 2015. No one is going to tease you." Sam tried, trying to give off a soft aura.
"It's not that I'm afraid they'll judge me! Everyone looks at me like the big, tough, badass dude with a motorcycle. I don't need everyone thinking I'm a fag with a soft heart." He said taking his jacket off.
"Dean, I'm sor-"
"Whatever, Sam. I don't need Cas finding out about this okay?" He said taking a beer from the fridge. Sam smiled.
"You have a crush on him, don't you?" He grinned. Dean choked on his beer.
"Says who? I never said that!" He said defensively.
"No one said that. But that's the first person who came to your mind." He said, walking to the fridge, getting a beer of his own. "Plus you talk about him way too much." Dean blushed and swigged his beer, before realizing Sam was drinking.
"Hey! You can't be drinking! You're underage, Sammy!" Dean set his own beer down and tried to take the one from Sam. Sam pulled it out of reach.
"And you don't want Cas knowing you're gay. So I'd just sit back and shut your pie hole." He took a sip. Dean rolled his eyes, and immediately went back to the fridge the check for pie.
"If I find out you told Cas..." He pulled out some pie. "I'm going to kick your ass." At that moment, Castiel appeared. His wings folding back was such a familiar sound.
"Don't worry, Dean. I already know." Cas said looking at him hardly. Dean blushed and chugged his beer.
"Must be an angel thing." Sam said, leaning against the counter. Cas cocked his head and squinted his eyes.
"Actually, it's a phone thing. Some girl posted it on this app. And everyone was talking about it." Cas said, pulling out his phone.
"Who was the idiot who gave you that damn thing?" He asked motioning towards the phone, shoveling pie into his face. Cas looked back at him.
"I'm pretty sure you were 'that idiot,' Dean." Cas said straight faced. Dean looked at him awkwardly.
"T-that can't be the reason you came here. What do you want?" He threw the empty pie container in the trash. Cas walked closer to Dean.
"I actually needed to talk to you." Cas said zapping Dean's forhead. They were now in an abandoned warehouse in Ohio. Dean looked around confused.
"You couldn't have just asked Sam to leave?" He asked, turning in circles, surverying the place.
"I suppose I could have. But it would have taken to long." Cas said walking away from Dean slowly.
"Well, what was so important you couldn't say it in front of Sam?" He asked folding his arms. Cas sighed.
"Dean, I'm struggling with these...emotions. Emotions I do not understand. A human emotion that doesn't seem to make sense to me." He said avoiding Dean's eyes. "I think it may be love." Dean's heart and stomach sunk. Great, he thought, Cas was in love with someone else and Dean was in love with Cas. Dean had to help his friend, even though he was a jealous asshole. So he just nodded slowly, making duck lips.
"Okay. Who's the pretty lady? Is it Meg?" He asked winking, jabbing him with his elbow. He smiled, even though this was the worst pain he had ever felt in his life.
"That's the confusing part. I'm afraid to say I don't have feelings for a girl." Cas looked up at Dean. "It's a boy."
Now Dean's heart jumped to his throat. So... Cas was gay? Or at the very least bisexual. Who could he like? Sam probably. Cas and Sam almost talked more than Sam and Dean did, and they were brothers. That's why it was confusing Cas. Sam isn't gay and Cas doesn't know what to do.
"First off, I'm honored that you came out to me. Secondly, I could help you, but you have to tell me who you like." Dean tried hard not to stutter. Cas flashed a rare smirk at Dean. He put his hands in his pockets.
"Don't flatter youself, Dean. I told Sam first, of course." Cas said. Dean had to refrain from rolling his eyes. Of course, he thought. Cas blushed though, another rare, very rare, thing Cas did.
"And I have...feelings..." He was struggling with his words. What was going on, Dean thought. "I have feelings for you Dean." Dean's face heated up, his eyes widened.
"F-for me?" He wanted to laugh. "Out of all the hot guys you could like, you choose me?"
"No other guy I've seen has an ass like yours." Another smirk. Dean laughed.
"So I did teach you something? Good line." He smiled.
"I'd like to ask you out on...a date." Cas said, his eyes were everywhere except for Dean's face. Dean smiled softly.
"I'd like to say yes." Dean said. Cas looked up at him, smiling a toothy smile. Cas hugged Dean tightly, Dean hugged back and kissed the top of Cas's head.
Even though Dean couldn't see Cas's wings, he could feel them as the wrapped around Dean. He'd never felt safer. He wanted that feeling to last. Him, standing there, hugging his angel, with his angel's wings wrapped around the both of them.
