Chapter 2: Gru

~🚀~

Gru strolled through the streets, a grin on his face. He was took in the fresh air, it was a lovely sunny day.

Gru gasped when he saw a little boy crying over his dropped ice cream cone.

He pouted at him before pulling out a blue balloon and blew it up and shaped it into a balloon animal.

He gave it to the boy who tugged it tightly.

After a few moments, Gru took a needle and popped the balloon animal.

The balloon's broken pieces covered the boy's face, who had a flabbergasted expression.

Gru shoved the boy aside by the head and continued on his way.

When he entered a coffee shop, he let a groan when he saw the mile long line.

I'm having a bad bad day.

Gru then smirked and pulled out his free ray from his jacket.

It's about time that I get my way.
Steam rolling whatever I see, huh.

"FREEZE RAY!" Gru yelled as he zapped multiple people with his freeze ray, turning them all into frozen statues

I'm having a bad bad day.
If you take it personal that's okay.

Gru laughed and walked to the head of the line past the frozen customers.

He approached the terrified Barrister who stared at him, speechless.

Gru smiled and daintily took the cup of coffee and bag of muffins that was in her hands.

Watch this is so fun to see, huh.

Despicable me.

Gru began to exit the coffee shop, not before plopping a coin in the tip jar.

Cars drove through the busy street. An old lady drove in her red subcompact before a man in his blue SUV drove past her.

Then, an enormous metallic beast of a car drove past them, Gru at the wheel.

Gru parked into his driveway, his house stuck out like a sore thumb compared to all of the other houses in this neighborhood.

The other ones were small and white, while Gru's was a dark brownish-black and the biggest of them all.

"Morning, Gru!" Fred McDade, Gru's neighbor laughed as he stepped out of his car, much to Gru's annoyance. "How you doing?"

"Hello, Fred." Gru sighed as he approached the fence between the two houses to speak with his neighbor.

"FYI, your dog has been leaving little bombs all over my yard, and I don't appreciate it."

Fred just laughed. "Sorry. You know dogs. They go wherever they want to go."

"Unless they're dead." Gru stated before letting out a laugh. "I'm joking! Although, it is true. Anyway, have a good one!"

Fred stared at Gru as he walked inside his house.

"Uh, okay. Ah, yeah, hmm."

Gru walked into his living room carrying his coffee and muffin. He flinched when he saw his dog Kyle, a cross between a piranha and pit-bull, snoring soundly while laying in the middle of the sofa.

Not wanting to wake him up, Gru used his foot to roll Kyle over.

Gru sat down on the couch to enjoy his coffee and muffin.

But before he could even take a bite out of his delicious muffin, the doorbell rang.

"Oh, you've got to pulling on my leg!" Gru groaned as he sat up from the couch to see who it was.

A few moments later, Gru arrived at the door, holding a club in his free hand. He heard a teenage boy's voice on the other side.

"Hello, cookies for sale!"

Gru looked through the peephole and saw three kids.

A boy with brown hair and glasses who looked to be about thirteen-years old stared up at the large door. He held a clipboard in his hand that had a form for a cookie order.

Standing next to him was little girl who looked to be about five-years-old that had black hair tied in a high ponytail and wore overalls. In her hands were a ragged stuffed unicorn.

Sitting on the steps behind the two, was a nine-year-old blonde girl who wore pink, looking bored out of her mind.

"Go away, I'm not home." Gru responded.

The Boy raised an eyebrow. "Um, yes you are. I heard you."

The Blonde girl jumped up at the peephole and made a funny face, making Gru gasp and drop his club.

Gru then leaned his ear against the door. "No, you didn't...this...this is a recording." Gru put on a monotone robotic voice.

"No it isn't!" The Boy denied.

"Yes it is. Watch this, leave a message...beep."

Outside the door, the Boy gave the Blonde a nod, giving her his permission.

The Blonde kicked the door, making Gru scream in pain.

The Boy rolled his eyes and walked off the porch with the Blonde, while the youngest girl stayed behind.

"Goodbye, Recorded Message." She smiled.

"Agnes, come on!" Her brother called.

Agnes hopped off of the steps and followed her siblings.

Gru walked back into the living room, he noticed Kyle was no where to be found.

Gru looked around the room nervously and grabbed his bag. But he was so busy looking for Kyle, he didn't notice that Kyle had devoured half of Gru's arm, along with his muffin.

"KYLE!" Gru screamed as he began waving his arm around in an attempt to get the dog off.

"BAD DOG! NO, NO, NO! SIT! MY MUFFIN!"

As Gru tried to shake Kyle off of him, the TV flashed from the news to an old man wearing goggles and a lab coat.

"Gru!" He spoke.

Gru turned to the TV and smiled, placing a fist on his hip. "Ah, Dr. Nefario."

"Hi, Gru!" A girl who looked to be about thirteen grinned. She had (long/short) (hair color) hair, (skin color) skin, and vibrant (eye color) eyes.

On her wrist was a metal bracelet with a digital (favorite color) heart on it.

"(Name)." Gru nodded with a smile.

(Name) was Dr. Nefario's great-niece who had been living with him for three years after her parents death.

(Name) had quickly adjusted living here and it wasn't long until she was happy to call this place home.

All of the Minions absolutely adored her and she loved them, and even Gru had a soft spot for her, which he refused to admit.

Plus, she had a great skill for inventing, just like her great-uncle. Her bracelet was her first invention, which worked like a mini computer.

Therefore, Gru and Dr. Nefario saw the potential in her.

And so, for the last three years, (Name) was trained to be an evil inventor.

Despite this fact and her eagerness to have a career as an inventor, a part of her felt...lonely.

She had no one else her age or any friends, asides from the Minions that was.

"I know what you must be feeling. I too have experienced great disappointment." Dr. Nefario spoke as he held his fingers together.

"But in my eyes, you will always be one of the greats." Dr. Nefario hung his head while (Name) placed a hand over her heart, shaking her head.

Gru, however, was confused. "What? What happened?"

"It's all over the news! Some fella just stole a pyramid!" Dr. Nefario informed.

"They're saying he makes all over villains look..." Dr. Nefario tried to find the word for it.

"Lame."

Gru attempted to process this. Is this it? The end of his career? Is his run on top over?

But then, Gru furrowed his eyebrows together in determination.

"Assemble the Minions!" He ordered.

Gru shook Kyle off his arm and grabbed his coat and ran to his rhino chair.

He pressed a button and immediately the room converted into an elevator.

A cannon dropped down from the ceiling and onto Gru. When it disappeared, Gru was standing in a pod with his jacket and scarf on.

The pod dropped Gru down to a shaft.
