chapter two

CHAPTER TWO

Rachel decided to remain in La Push, while Rebecca's stay was merely temporary, albeit short.

Throughout the years, Serena had been acutely aware of how their mother's passing had profoundly affected Rebecca the most. It was with that understanding that Serena understood Rebecca's decision to relocate to Hawaii in the first place. Ironically, her initial trip to Hawaii for a vacation ended up transforming into a permanent settlement, culminating in her marriage.

Serena asked thoughtfully, "When do you plan on leaving, Bex?" reflecting a sense of sorrow that she had just reunited with her sisters.

Rebecca answered, "I'll be departing in just a few days," she admitted, a trace of sadness evident in her voice, indicating her reluctance to be separated once more.

Serena's face fell at Rebecca's response, a wave of sadness washing over her. "Just a few days?" she queried softly.

Rebecca nodded, a mixture of yearning and regret visible in her eyes. "Yes, unfortunately, I have to leave soon."

Rachel, fully informed about the impending departure, still voiced her discontent at the limited time they would have to spend together.

"Are you planning to stay for an extended period?" Rachel questioned, her voice brimming with optimism. "Or do you have to leave sooner than that?"

Serena replied, "Ideally, not too long. Maybe a few months, at the most," while smiling widely as she observed her sister's joyous expression. As Rachel wrapped her arms around her in a tight hug, Serena reciprocated with an equally loving embrace.

"I'm glad I didn't have to say farewell to both of you at once!" Rachel sighed in relief, grateful for the extended window of time.

Rebecca chimed in, "You can always visit us, you know," adding a comforting perspective that would ease any lingering anxiety about the upcoming separation. She enthusiastically joined in the group hug, hoping to alleviate any sense of sadness or trepidation.

Serena returned the embrace with equal warmth, appreciating both sisters' support. "Absolutely! We'll make plans to visit each other," she promised, her eyes sparkling with excitement at the thought of future reunions.

"We have to plan our next destination for the group vacation," Rachel suggested, her enthusiasm evident in her voice. "I'm thinking we could explore Europe or Asia," she added, already envisioning the countless adventures they could embark on together.

Rebecca nodded in agreement, "That sounds like a great idea!"

"I'm open to wherever we decide to go," Serena chimed in, already looking forward to planning the details of their next journey.

Rebecca raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "How does the imprinting thing work, especially when it comes to Jared?"

Serena snorted, adding, "I don't completely understand it either, but I hope he doesn't feel obligated to tag along."

Rachel snickered softly, remarking, "As long as you're there, Rena, I think Jared will be just fine. You're intimidating enough as it is." She whispered the last part, only to have Serena retaliate by swatting her arm.

Serena rolled her eyes at Rachel's comment, "Oh, shut up," she muttered, her voice filled with playful irritation.

Rebecca laughed at the exchange, shaking her head in amusement. Meanwhile, Rachel feigned a hurt expression, dramatically clutching her arm where Serena had slapped her.

Rebecca chuckled at the back-and-forth, watching as Rachel pretended to act wounded by Serena's slap. "I definitely didn't miss your slaps," Rachel grumbled jokingly, dramatically imitating a wounded expression.

Serena sighed as she reached out to embrace the twins once again.

Suddenly, they heard the sound of the front screen door opening and their father's voice, followed by the question, "Hey, girls! There's a car outside. Do any of you have visitors?" The trio broke away from their embrace, their eyes turning towards the entrance as their dad wheeled in, pausing in his tracks when he noticed Serena.

"Hey, Pops!" Serena waved playfully at her father as he rubbed his eyes, their laughter filling the air.

"Hey, Dad!" she called out, adding a touch of humor to her greeting. "I'm here in the flesh, in case you didn't notice."

Serena approached her father, but before she could utter a word, he embraced her in a tight hug. She chuckled and reciprocated the hug, jokingly addressing him,"Okay, Dad, loosen the grip a bit. The twins almost broke my ribs with their hugs."

Billy grinned as he let her go, greeting her warmly,"Welcome home, Serena."

"It's good to be back," Serena responded, but a slight pang of guilt tugged at her heart. She had no deep-rooted ties to La Push, and she didn't want to chain herself down with commitments. Nevertheless, she inquired, "Do you know where Jake is?"

Billy hummed thoughtfully, recalling the current whereabouts of their son."He's probably hanging out with the boys or with Bella, you remember her, right? Charlie Swan's daughter?"

Serena furrowed her brow in contemplation as she tried to recall the name. It took a few moments before she finally clicked, snapping her fingers and drawing an 'o' shape on her lips, the memory now clear in her mind.

Serena sighed affectionately, "I certainly miss that loser," she said, a note of fondness in her voice.

"Anyways, I've been meaning to ask, how's Harry and Sue?" she inquired, delving into a conversation topic.

Billy replied encouragingly, "They've been doing well, why don't you stop by and see them?" He suggested.

"You know what," Serena perked up. "I think I should visit. I really miss Sue's cooking."

Serena chuckled as her father gave her a look, amused by the playful tension between them.

"Kidding, Dad," she replied, a mischievous glint in her eyes, trying to keep a straight face through it all.

Rebecca shrugged playfully, "Sue is easily one of the best cooks around...can't blame Rena for missing that amazing food." she chimed in, adding a lighthearted tone to their conversation.

Serena chuckled at Rebecca's playful remark, understanding her sister's lightheartedness. She couldn't deny that Sue's cooking did hold a special place in their hearts, especially after all these years.

"You're right, she is one of the best," she agreed with a smile. "I can't even express how much I miss that delicious food."

Billy cleared his throat, his tone becoming more serious. "Girls," he stated, giving her a pointed look.

"Sorry Dad," both replied, raising an eyebrow at his tone.
