Too Soon
Jin's POV ~
"What do you think?"
The woman spun a very expensive looking ring around between the pads of her fingers, no doubt it was absolutely beautiful but it wasn't what I was looking for.
"No, it's not her style. I know what's she's like, something simple yet striking. Vintage looking almost, not so much bling."
"Mr Jeon, I've showed you all the engagement pieces currently on sale. I'm afraid there's nothing more I can really show you unless....."
"Unless what?" I cocked a brow.
"Well we've got some new pieces that arrived yesterday but they're part of our new collection which is slightly more pricey."
"I've got money, it doesn't matter the cost."
I could practically see her money hungry eyes light up.
"Well then....please follow me Mr Jeon, I've got some pieces that you might like."
"I'm sure you do." I muttered under my breath.
I was escorted behind the counter and through a door guarded by security, they really spared no expense when it came to protecting their valuable pieces.
"Mr Jeon would you like a drink? Champagne perhaps?"
"I'm good thanks, just here to see the pieces." I hoped my answer would get her to speed things up a little, I promised Y/N we could have lunch together and didn't want to be late.
"Of course Mr Jeon, please take a seat."
The woman dealing with my request escorted me over to a large mahogany table with a chair either side.
"Thank you." I smiled as she pulled out a chair for me.
"I'll be right back with the pieces Mr Jeon."
I gave a nod and waited for her to leave before pulling my phone out from the inside pocket of my jacket.
"Hey Jin, everything okay?" I breathed a sigh of relief when Namjoon answered after a couple of rings.
"Y/N prefers silver or white gold jewellery right?" I didn't even give him a proper greeting, just jumped right in there with my questions.
"Well....hello to you too Jin and yes she does. Why?"
"I'm sorry, I'm just nervous." I took a breath, composed myself.
"Jin....why are you nervous? Hang on, what jewellery are you getting for Y/N? It's not her birthday and there's no other special occasion I know of.....wait....WAIT! ARE YOU PROPOSING?!"
I flinched as he shouted down the phone.
"I....well yes. I'm planning on asking her at the company dinner next month."
"Jin, I know you love my sister but don't you think it's too soon?"
I furrowed my brow. "Too soon....why would it be too soon? It's been a year Namjoon and for the past few weeks she's basically been living at my place."
I heard him pause for a moment and then a big sigh followed.
"Does this have something to do with Jungkook coming back?"
I rolled my eyes, can't I go for one damn second without someone reminding me.
"No, it's got nothing to do with that and how did you know he's back?"
"How do you think I know."
"Y/N told you?"
"Yes, she told me this morning."
"It doesn't matter, that's not the reason I'm asking her to marry me."
"Look Jin this is your decision and your decision alone but please don't ask my sister to marry you unless you actually want it and more importantly mean it."
I couldn't argue with that, Namjoon was right. I knew that Y/N was special to me, I loved her and wanted to make this work but was I really asking her to marry me for the right reasons.
"I know having Jungkook back must be difficult but don't rush and make rash decisions because of that. I think you should take a step back, talk to both of them and wait for things to settle."
Namjoon had become such a good friend to me, after Y/N introduced the two of us we just seemed to click and mesh really well together and this was one of the reasons why we got along so well. Namjoon was calm and collected under pressure and always knew what to say, how to handle a situation.
"I guess you're right." I breathed out.
"Look, get the ring. I know you love my sister and there's obviously a part of you that genuinely wants to propose someday when the time is right, get it now and when the moment comes when you're truly ready then at least you've got it."
"You always know what to say." I chuckled.
"I've got a talent."
"You sure do."
"Mr Jeon." I lifted my head to see the same woman from before approaching me with a small black box.
"I've got to go Namjoon, I'll speak with you later okay?"
"I'll be at the apartment, just call me if you need anything and make the right decision Jin."
"I will, I promise." I ended the call and slipped my phone back inside my jacket pocket.
"I think you'll like these Mr Jeon." I leaned over the table as she placed the box down and opened it.
"That one." I immediately spotted it, didn't even give the other rings a second glance but that one made me think of Y/N and how perfect it would look on her finger.
In that moment I knew....I knew this was what I wanted and it didn't have anything to do with my brother returning from Tokyo.
I would ask her after the company dinner as originally planned.
Would she say yes?
I shook my head and told myself not to worry and be positive.
"I'll take that one." I pointed at the ring and she smiled.
"Excellent choice Mr Jeon, that's from our new Princess Couture line."
I couldn't help but smile, it was a ring fit for a Princess and not just any Princess....Mine.
