Falling For Ya

The music started and Ben pulled Mal to the dance floor. Evie was up on stage with Audrey, Uma, and another princess.

Ben tried to dance with Mal but she pushed him away.

"The day started ordinary, boys walking by," Evie sang.

"Come on, let's dance," Ben said to Mal.

"No," Mal said. "I'm sorry."

"What?" Ben asked.

"It was the same old story, too fresh or too shy," Evie sang.

Mal tried to get to the door but was surrounded by surfers and bikers who were dancing.

"I'm not the kind, to call for a guy, who flashes a smile," Evie sang.

"It goes on for miles," Uma, Audrey, and the other princess sang.

"Don't usually swoon, but I'm over the moon," Evie sang and Doug appeared at the door.

"Cause he was just too cool for school..."

Ben and Mal got stuck dancing with other surfers.

"And now I'm falling for ya, falling for ya. Can't hold on any longer, and now I'm falling for ya."

"Feels like I tumbled from another world, into your arms and it's so secure. Maybe I'll stumble but I know for sure, head over heels I'm gonna be your girl."

Doug started walking through the crowd of people dancing.

"Ben, ben, ben, ben," Mal pulled Ben over away from the dancing.

"What?" Ben asked.

"I'm sorry, but I'm worried. I don't have time to wait around for the storm. I'm gonna head back to the beach and try to figure a way out of here," Mal said.

"No, no, no, Mal, Mal, remember. This is the part of the movie we saw at my parents. Where the two leads get together," Ben said.

Mal shook her head. "You enjoy it. I'll let you know if I come up with anything," she said and walked away. She was watching Evie when she bumped into Doug, him catching her before she fell.

Ben confusedly looked at them and then at the stage to see Evie started to trip and fall.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," He said and ran to catch her. Evie looked at him when he caught her and smiled.

"And now I'm falling for ya, falling for ya, I know I shouldn't but I, I just can't stop myself from falling for ya, falling for ya, can't hold on any longer, and now I'm falling for ya," Evie finished singing as Ben set her down. Doug smiled at Mal and she awkwardly smiled back at him.

"You saved my life," Evie said to Ben as the music stopped playing.

"Not really.... I mean, the stage is like two feet up. The worst you would've done was broken a nail," Ben said.

"I guess I literally fell for you huh?" Evie asked and Ben smiled. "I'm Evie," she said.

"I know," Ben nodded and Evie looked confusedly at him. "I mean, yeah you are.... I mean, I dreamed about this since I was like in fifth grade."

"Who are you?" Evie asked.

"Ben, your knight in shining board shorts," Ben said.

"That's a really long last name," Evie said and Ben sort of chuckled.

"Nice of you to drop in," Doug said to Mal.

"Um.... I-I'm sorry, I didn't see you," Mal said.

"Now you do," Doug said. "Do you like what you see?" he asked and smiled. His teeth then sparkled.

Mal's eyes widened. "Sure.... Ah.... Ahem, it was really nice to meet you," she said standing back up. "Excuse me for just one second."

Doug nodded and Mal rushed over to Ben and Evie.

"Uh, Ben, can I have a moment? A really quick, important moment?" Mal asked.

"Excuse me Evie," Ben said.

"Okay," Mal nodded and took his hand leading him out.

"It was really great falling into you. I..... I hope we can do it again sometime," Evie said watching them leave.

"Ben, the mannequin with six rows of teeth just asked me out," Mal whispered to Ben. They looked over and Doug smiled at her, once again his teeth sparkly.

"Mal, something's not right," Ben said.

Mal sighed. "We could write a list of things that aren't right. Starting with the fact that there are enough things to write a list," she said.

"Look around," Ben said and they looked to see the bikers and surfers just standing around, not doing anything. "Nothing's happening. It's almost..... It's almost dull."

"Okay, and?" Mal asked.

"Okay, so when Evie sings the song about finding the perfect boy and being happy-"

"See, that's exactly my point, why does she need a boy to be happy?"

"Because it's 1962. The point is, after she sings that song, it's Doug who's supposed to catch her as he's walking by."

"Okay, what happens after he catches her?"

"They fall instantly in love, but are pulled apart, and a full-on dance ward breaks out."

Mal looked at the surfers and bikers who just stood around looking at each other. "It looks like no one knows exactly what to do next," she said.

Ben and Mal's eyes widened and they ran out of the restaurant.
