Family Matters
Harmony teleported all of them to the motel room and tied Sam to a chair, Dean said a prayer and Cas appeared. "So if this isn't Sam what is it?"
"He looks terrible." Cas said as he looked at Sam.
"Dean did it." Harmony answered.
"Cas?" Sam woke up and realized he was tied up.
"Has he been feverish?" Cas asked.
"Have you?" Dean demanded.
"No, why?" Sam asked confused.
"Speaking in tongues, you speaking in tongues?" Cas asked.
"No." Sam said still just as confused.
"He's just been a dick speaking bullshit." Harmony glared.
"How much does he sleep?" Cas asked.
Sam was quiet for a moment before answering. "I don't."
"At all?" Dean asked.
"Not since I got back." Sam answered.
"And it never occurred to you that their might be something off about that?" Dean snapped.
"Of course it did, I just never told you." Sam admitted.
"Sam, what are you feeling?" Cas asked.
"I feel like my nose is broken."
"Not physically. How do you feel? Feel?"
"I don't know."
Cas turned to Harmony. "When you look into his eyes what do you see?"
"Nothing." Harmony answered. "It's never happened before."
"This is gonna be unpleasant. Bite down on this." Cas shoved a leather belt into Sam's mouth." If there's some place that you find soothing you should go there." Cas then shoved his arm right into Sam's stomach and Sam screamed in pain.
"Did you find anything?" Dean asked.
"No." Cas answered.
"So that's good news?"
"I'm afraid not." Cas answered. "Physically he's perfectly healthy."
"Then what?"
"Why can't I read him?" Harmony asked.
Cas sighed. "Harmony, your gift... you're a soul reader. With no soul there's nothing for you to read."
"Sam is soulless?" Harmony gasped.
Dean started pacing back and forth trying to process this.
"Well... where is it?" Harmony asked.
"My guess is still in the cage with Michael and Lucifer." Cas answered.
"So is he even still Sam?" Dean asked. "Can we get it back?"
"Sam's soul is in Lucifers cage." Cas reminded him.
"Then I'll go." Harmony volunteered. "I'll get it back, he'll give it back to me right? He has this weird family matter with me right? I mean I'm not able to burn his ass but he never tried to do anything to me before."
"So are you gonna untie me?" Sam asked.
"No." Dean snapped.
"I'm not gonna.."
"How the hell am I suppose to let you out of this room?" Dean asked.
"I didn't want you or Harmony to get hurt, I was just trying to stop the vamps."
"By using Dean as bait? Letting him get turned on purpose?!" Harmony snapped. "He could have died!"
"I'm sorry It won't ever happen again. Please let me go."
"You're kidding right?" Dean asked.
"What are you gonna do? Keep me locked up in here forever?" Sam asked.
"You make it sound like it's a bad thing."
"Ok Dean, I get it. Dean I was wrong, but I'm telling you I'm trying to get right. It's still me."
"Is it?" Harmony glared. "I had to suffer for a year because of you. There's no way in Hell I can trust you again Sam! I had to hide my powers, Dean got turned into a vampire, you rushed in that crazy cat lady's house just as I was about to end her!"
Sam sighed. "Harmony, you and Dean are stuck with the soulless guy or you two might as well work with me."
"Or we can work on getting your soul back since you just proved you would trade Dean's life for a fang." Harmony growled. "Cause soulless or not you're no match for me."
Dean grabbed Harmony by her shoulders and gave Sam a deadly glare just like hers. "I'm going to be watching every move you make."
"Sounds about right to me." Sam shrugged.
"Cas, clean him up." Dean ordered as he took Harmony outside. As soon as he closed the door Harmony broke down and cried, the tears came as fast as her sobs as she cried in Dean's arms.
As soon as Harmony fell asleep Dean held her before glaring at Sam. "You don't remember anything? Not a damn thing that could help us?"
Sam thought for a moment. "I got one."
With that the Winchesters drove to Samuel.
Harmony slept the whole way there but woke up when Dean gently shook her awake.
Dean wasted no time getting to Samuel with Harmony still half asleep. He ignored all the greetings from his cousins and Sam followed. Dean set Harmony down as he slammed open Samuel's door.
"Well come on in." Samuel said as he quickly hid something in his desk.
"We need to ask you a few questions." Dean told him.
"What's wrong?" Samuel asked.
"The day you got back, what happened?" Dean asked.
"We've been over this."
"Well recap it for our wingman." Dean said as Cas appeared right next to Samuel.
"This Castiel?" Samuel asked. "You're scrawnier than I pictured."
"My true form is the size of your Chrysler building." Cas answered.
"Alright alright, quit bragging." Dean said. "So, you were dead and?"
"And, pow, I was on Elton Ridge." Samuel answered. "Don't know how, don't know why. I got nothing to hide guys."
"You mind if Cas checks?"
Cas rolled up his sleeves and did the same thing to Samuel he did to Sam.
At the sound of Samuel's screaming one of the cousins burst in. "What the hell?"
"Cas put his arm into Samuel's gut to make sure he had a soul." Harmony answered.
"I'm fine, just give us a minute." Samuel assured.
"But.."
"He said get out." Harmony sassed slamming the door.
"What the hell was that about?" Samuel asked.
"He was annoying me." Harmony answered.
"Not that, what he did." Samuel answered pointing to Cas.
"His soul is intact." Cas confirmed.
"What?" Samuel asked confused.
"Fan freakin tastic." Harmony groaned.
"Of course I have a soul."
"Yeah you do, but Sam doesn't."
Samuel then looks at Sam. "Sam?"
Sam nodded. "Whatever dragged me out, left a piece behind. Did you know?"
"No." Samuel answered. "I mean I knew something... You're a hell of a hunter Sam, but truth is you scare me. So what's the deal here? How do we fix this? How do we get his soul back?"
"We don't know yet but we have to." Dean answered.
"Well I'm here to help of course." Samuel said. "What leads you working?"
Cas looked at the sky. "I have to go." With that Cas left.
"Freaking war." Harmony sighed.
"Would have asked him to stick around for a beer." Samuel said.
"What's with the book club outside?" Dean asked.
"Putting together a hunt." Samuel answered.
"That's a lot of guys for one hunt."
"You found him didn't you?" Sam asked.
"Who?" Dean asked.
"The alpha vamp." Sam answered.
"How'd you track him down?" Dean asked.
"We're good." Samuel answered.
"That's all I get? We're good?" Dean asked.
"When's the run?" Sam asked.
"Dawn." Samuel answered.
"You didn't call me?" Sam asked kind of offended. "Why?"
"Cause of me." Dean said. "You don't trust me very much do you? Especially when it comes to big game like this."
"Not true." Samuel said.
"Ok, then we're in." Dean said.
"No offense but.."
"So you don't trust me?"
"No, I just don't know yet."
"Not like I know Sam."
"Alright, you call the plays. Hundred percent. I'm here to listen."
"Since when?"
"Daddy bloodsucker? I'm not gonna miss that. But his is your deal and I get it. I'll follow your lead. I trust you."
As soon as the three siblings were outside heading for the car Dean said. "I don't trust him."
"He's hiding something." Harmony agreed.
"What?" Sam asked.
"I can feel it." Dean said. "If you weren't RoboSam you would to."
"You Dean? Saying you don't trust family."
"Blend in, stay close and see what we can pick up Sam." Harmony told him.
"You two think Samuel's connected to this whole soul thing?" Sam asked.
"It's the only lead we got." Dean nodded.
"Hey Harmony, why did you let Cas give Samuel a painful procedure instead of just reading his soul?" Sam asked her.
"Call it petty but I've been wanting to kick his ass since I first met him." Harmony shrugged.
As everyone started loading and sharpening their weapons Dean helped Harmony wake up a bit more before she teleported into Samuel's private office to look for clue all she could find was research before they had to go.. or at least she thought it was research, she gathered the papers she found and stuck them in her boot before they left.
The drive took until sunrise til they stopped.
"The house is just up the hill." Samuel told everyone. "About a dozen vamps and an alpha. We got one shot at this son of a bitch."
"Speak for yourself." Harmony mumbled.
Samuel split everyone up. "Dean, Gwen, Harmony, hang back."
"Screw that." Harmony glared.
"Problem Dean?" Samuel asked.
"She'll calm down." Dean promised.
Harmony ignored the conversations they had because she could feel something was nearby. "Dean."
Dean nodded.
"Sun is out dipstick." Harmony called as a vampire leaped at her. Dean was ready and cut the head right off.
"Whoa." Gwen said impressed.
They then heard gunshots in the distance. Fearing for Sam, Dean and Harmony hurried towards the sound.
"We're suppose to wait here." Gwen called after them.
Dean and Harmony found the house and the yard was full of bodies, vampires and hunters. Dean tried to open the gate but it's locked.
Harmony turned into smoke and easily opened the gate from the other side for him before they ran in.
"Samuel said there would be a dozen vamps." Harmony mumbled. "This looks like a headless war zone." Harmony then kicked a head away from her.
"Clearly he miss counted." Dean said as they looked around before hearing a woman scream.
"That wasn't a vamp." Harmony sighed before she let the feeling of death guide her around the house to see Samuel and other hunters drag a vampire they were filling with dead men blood and handcuffed into a truck.
Harmony quickly teleported her and Dean back to Gwen.
"One Alpha down." Samuel said as he walked over.
Harmony's mouth dropped that he just lied to her face, if Dean wasn't holding her hand so tight she would have tackled him.
During the drive Dean pulled over and asked Sam if the Alpha was really dead when he lied Harmony screamed and got out of the car to flame up. "WE SAW YOU WALKING THE ALPHA OUT DOUCHBAG!!"
"Ah..." Sam stood frozen.
"Care to explain Sam?" Dean asked.
"You weren't suppose to know about that." Sam said not being able to keep his eyes off his burning sister. "It's just something Samuel's been doing. Catching and taking and grilling for info."
"So torture." Dean concluded.
"And not telling us was his idea?" Harmony demanded.
"No it was mine." Sam admitted.
Harmony threw a fit again and threw a powerful flame causing a small explosion. She let out her anger while Dean grilled Sam.
"Dean, he's our grandfather." Sam tried to defend.
"Family doesn't mean the same to him as it does to us." Dean told him. "I don't care if you're soulless or have the mumps we don't do this stuff and you don't even see it. You got no instinct. You are seriously messed up."
Harmony grabbed Sam and literally forced him off the ground. "Until we get your soul and if you're going to work with us Dean calls the shots, you tell us everything even if you think it's important or not because you clearly can't tell the difference."
"Wow.. you're strong." Sam said before he agreed to work with his siblings. When they got back to the headquarters Sam placed a GPS into Samuel's phone so it would take them to the alpha.
The three siblings followed the signal to a warehouse with the doors covered in dead man's blood.
"Smart." Dean had to admit.
Harmony easily teleported them in. Harmony took a minute to observe before nodding. "Clear." Then pointed. "This way."
"Guess I should have gotten you a year ago." Sam admitted. "You're one hell of a hunter."
"Shut up." Harmony said before she brought them to the room Samuel was keeping the alpha.
"Where is it?" Samuel kept asking over and over. Once Samuel left Harmony went in. The vamp was cuffed to an electric chair with iron nails in his body.
"What the hell is this? Why would he use leather cuffs is he stupid." Harmony said as she snapped her fingers and made the cuffs metal. Your ugly nails could cut through that.
"Damn, outsmarted by a little girl." The vamp said now knowing he needs to come up with a plan B. "You must be Harmony, the girl with no blood. How can I help you?"
"Gotta say, kinda an honor to meet the very first vampire." Harmony gave him a small smile.
"And you are the first of your kind I've ever met." The vampire grinned back.
"Let me guess, you can't tell me what that is?" She said.
"And miss all the fun of you figuring it out yourself?" He chuckled. "There is only one thing in the world that has no blood."
"So if you're the first? Who made you?" Harmony asked.
"We all have our creators my dear." He answered. "Even you and me."
Sam and Dean then walk in. "Why did Samuel bring you here?"
The vamp looked at Sam. "You smell cold, you have no soul. Can you feel how empty you are? What is it like to have no soul?"
"Answer my question." Sam demanded.
"You first." The vamp insisted.
"You're the one in the cage."
"The thing about souls if you've got one is they're predictable. You die you get judged and go up or down, where do my kind go?"
Harmony blinked confused. "The same?"
"Oh no my dear, that only happens to mortal souls. When we freaks die where do we go?"
Harmony shook her head. "This feels wrong. You're saying there's another place besides Heaven and Hell?"
"Two other places my dear."
"Legoland." Dean joked.
"Purgatory." Sam finally realized.
"Purgatory?" Dean asked. "Purgatory is real?"
"Of course!" The vamp said amused. "And it is filled with the souls of every hungry thing that has ever walked this earth. Now where is it? That is the mystery and that is what your kind hearted granddaddy is trying to beat out of me."
"Samuel brought you here to find out where Purgatory is?" Sam asked.
"I keep telling him how would I know such a thing but he refuses to untie me."
"But you do know where it is." Harmony said. "But why would Samuel care about where it is?"
"He doesn't care." The vamp told her.
"Ok answer me this.." Sam tried again.
"I'm only talking to the girl." The vampire said. "She's so special in more ways than one. In fact... She outranks even me."
"Ok." Harmony said getting a little nervous. "Why would Samuel want to know if he doesn't care?"
"He's just doing what he's told."
"Well if the old man's Kermit who's hand is up his ass?" Dean asked.
They then hear guns being loaded and see Samuel standing there. "Evening guys."
Harmony looked back that the vamp. He grinned and nodded his head.
Harmony glared and stood in front of her brothers ready to protect them.
"You know I've seen stupid but you take the crown." Dean told Samuel. "Putting Jaws in a fishbowl? Now how do you think that's going to end?"
"You think I'm doing this for kicks?" Samuel snapped.
"I think you got feebs convinced that you're John Wayne!" Dean snapped back. "So whatever you're doing, whatever you're hiding it's going to put everyone with you in the ground."
While the adults talked Harmony walked up to the alpha. Harmony removed the metal cuffs. "Do we have a deal?" Harmony asked.
"We have a deal." The vamp agreed with no effort at all the vamp got out of the cuffs and the two shook hands creating a blue light.
When the others ran in the vamp was gone.
"What happened?" Samuel demanded.
Harmony help up the leather cuffs. "How long have you been in this business Samuel? Vamp's finger nails are like knives idiot."
"We got to bring him back." Samuel said.
Harmony glares. "Why? Scared of Demons now Samuel?"
"What?" Dean asked, before clapping was heard.
Crowley then walked over and stood behind Harmony. "Well that was dramatic."
"Wait, you two know each other?" Dean asked.
"Meet the puppet master Dean." Harmony introduced. "Crowley! Really Samuel!"
"Oh darling it's just business." Crowley patted her shoulder.
"You're Crowley's bitch." Sam confirmed.
"It's not what you think." Samuel denined.
"It's exactly what they think." Crowley answered.
"Since when do you give a crap about vampires?" Dean asked.
"Since.. lets see.. today is Tuesday... Since mind your business." Crowley answered.
"Might as well share with the class Crowley we know you're looking for Purgatory." Sam said.
"Oh so you heard about that." Crowley said.
"Wanna tell us why?" Sam asked.
"Isn't it obvious? Location location location. I'm a developer Purgatory is vast, underutilized and I want it."
"For what?" Dean asked.
"Employees don't question management." Crowley said.
"We ain't your employees!" Dean yelled.
"Of course you are, have been for sometime now thanks to gramps. I don't keep Captain Chromedome for his wit. Samuel knows things. Walking encyclopedias, creepy and the crawly and I knew you boys are so hung up on family loyalty he set you up."
"Games over." Dean said.
"Afraid not." Crowley grinned. "Not if you ever want to see Sam's soul again."
"You're bluffing." Sam challenged.
"He pulled us both back." Samuel admitted. "Me and Sam."
"You knew?" Sam asked in disbelief
"Cas said it takes big time mojo to pull something off and you're a punk ass crossroad demon." Dean glared.
"Not anymore." Harmony sighed. "Congrats on your promotion."
"What?" Dean asked her.
"That's right, I'm the King of Hell. I got the mojo. I snap my fingers and Sam gets his soul back. The job is simple enough. Bring me creatures and everybody wins. Been a pleasure." With that Crowley left.
"Working with a demon huh?" Sam glared at Samuel. "You're not who I thought you were."
"You don't know anything about me." Samuel said.
"What could be so important?" Dean asked. "What did he offer you? Girls? Money? Hair?"
"I got my reasons. You boys have two choices. Put a bullet in your grandfather or step aside."
Sam was about to shoot him but Dean stopped him. "He sold us out."
"I know, let it go." Dean ordered.
"Why?"
Dean didn't answer, just let Samuel walk out.
"So what now?" Sam asked.
"We can't work for Crowley, Demons bone you every time. I've done some stupid things in my time but punch in a demon's clock?"
"Just until we find another way." Sam assured.
"And then?" Dean asked.
"And then we tract Crowley down, give that son of a bitch what's coming to him. You two with me?"
