Y/N's POV

'What is that noise? Are that children playing? I'm supposed to be in the middle of snowy woods at the mountain or am I dead.' I thought as I open my eyes slowly to see a roof over my head, and the children's laughter got louder until "Oka-san! Onii-chan! He's awake now!" a boy called out. I move my head to my right to see kids with curiosity in their eyes are staring right at me.

"Children, let's give him some space. Tanjiro, bring him the food and water please" a woman, probably their mother, says as the same boy from that night comes forward with a wooden bowl of soup and a cup of warm water. "I'm glad to see you wake up, you passed out due to hunger and dehydration. Traveling while not eating food or drinking water is bad." he says and helps me to sit up from the futon and let me drink the warm water.

The same woman kneels down to my other side and at a closer look, she has a noticeably light complexion, kind, dark purple eyes that appear a lighter color around the rims of their irises, and a small beauty mark located on the left of her face below her lower lip. She has black hair, worn tied back in a messy bun with a few loose strands left to dangle over her face.

"You're lucky that my son, Tanjiro, found you that night. The snow is just getting worse for a traveler like you" she says, her motherly tone soothes me. "I'm no-" I didn't finish what I was just about to say as I started coughing like crazy. The boy named Tanjiro pats my back. "You good now?" he asks, "Yeah, thank you." I replied as Tanjiro nods his head with a smile before he gasp in realization. "The woods! Oka-san, I'll be right back!" he says while leaving the house.

"Are you really just a traveler, young man?" she says, by the tone of her voice, she is serious. "Something like that" I answered, as she moves the bowl of soup closer to me and I begin devouring it quickly due to how cold outside is, it set the temperature of the hot soup to warm. Making it easier for me to finish it.

"Y/N-san! You're not supposed to be out here, you still need to rest to regain your strength" Kie, the mother of the Kamado Family says, with her brows furrowed in anger. "Don't worry about it. I can handle myself Kie-san" I reassured her further by raising the ax in the air and dropping and guiding it to chop the log into two. "See? Besides, it is my way of returning my debt to you wonderful people" I said to which she sighs in defeat before she smiles and heads back into the house.

The truth is that I'm still not fit to do this, but controlling my breathing will help me to keep up with the current cold temperature around me. "Heave-Ho." I said every time I bring the ax down to chop more logs into firewood.

"I think that is too much firewood for us to use through winter, don't you think?" she giggles as I snapped out of it and turn around to see, "Ah, you must be Nezuko. Sorry, I might have gone too far with this" I laughed to which she laughs too while covering her mouth with one hand. 

"Nezuko! Y/N-san, I'm back!" Tanjiro radiant as ever called out returning now with some logs on his back. I use the ax to support my weight on my right side, seeing how the two converse to each other. "H-Hey, did you do this all on your own?" he asks, shocked to see the huge amount of firewood to keep them warm. "Well, now my debt to you is paid then" I chuckled while rubbing the back of my neck, Nezuko has this look on her face now that I noticed it, she is awed at me.

Grinning, I let go of the ax then pat her head before patting Tanjiro's shoulder, "Come on, my feet are getting numb because of the cold here" heading in first to their home, followed behind me is Nezuko and Tanjiro after dropping down the logs on his back. "Glad to see that you three made it before we started." Kie says, seeing the rest of Tanjiro and Nezuko's siblings sitting on the floor around the small table with warm food. I felt someone's hand hold my arm, I look to my side to see Nezuko with a lighthearted smile that would probably melt the cold feeling I have in my body. But this feeling will soon be replaced with fear by an angry emotion that is radiating from Tanjiro just behind her.

I started to get uncomfortable and drops of sweat appear on my forehead, as I mouthed the word 'Sorry' to Tanjiro to which he replies with 'You better, that's my little sister'. I grin awkwardly like an idiot while Nezuko leads me to a spot where we sat together which made his brother, Tanjiro, even more furious. I mouthed the words of 'Sorry' and 'Forgive me' to him every time Nezuko looks away from me but only got to see Tanjiro holding himself back while grinding his teeth together.

-Timeskip-

I woke up early in the morning, feeling something restraining me, I look down to see Hanako and Shigeru laying their head on my stomach, sleeping. Turning my head to my right to see Tanjiro and Takeo near me, further to them is Kie with an arm over Rokuta in a loving embrace. To my left is Nezuko sleeping facing me, I look up to the ceiling with a smile. 'I will stay here and protect you all, that's a promise' I said in my head closing my eyes to get back to sleep.

3rd Person's POV

It's been a month since Y/N lives with the Kamado Family, everything went well, like how everyone in the family accepts Y/N as their own except for Tanjiro who is being overprotective but with enough persuasion from his little siblings especially his sister, Nezuko, he accepts him too. Y/N hides his sword that is also wrapped with his haori then a huge cloth in a hidden compartment under the floor which he made secretly.

This past month was enough for his body to recover fully and maintain his physique by doing exercise and running through the snow while controlling his breathing till his body started to feel pain then he will start counting to the limit of 250. This secret of his will soon blow when Tanjiro and Takeo saw Y/N doing pull-ups on a thick branch of a tree, they didn't notice him at first until they both lookup by the sound of groaning and counting.

"Y/N-san?!" they both exclaimed, Y/N stops his exercise and looks down below him to see the two brothers with their eyes widened while blinking. 'Oh, shit' Y/N thoughts and lets go of the branch before landing in front of the two. "Don't tell this to anyone alright?" he pleads, "Don't worry, Y/N-san-" Tanjiro answers but is cut off by Takeo running away, "Everyone! Y/N-san is amazing!" he shouted while heading towards the direction of their home. Y/N sighs in frustration while Tanjiro just chuckles awkwardly about the situation.

Another week passed by, Y/N has grown a great connection with them, he helps by going with Tanjiro to carry charcoal which he carries more than Tanjiro could. Playing with the other children of the Kamado family where Nezuko is very happy to be close with Y/N but not too much for her brother to activate his brother-senses. Sometimes when Tanjiro and the others are outside, Y/N will lend a hand to help Kie clean the house or do it by himself to surprise everyone.

"Tanjirou! Your face is all black, come over here" Kie called out to her son, as he walks up to her mother. "You know it's okay if you don't go." she says, "I'll only sell a little charcoal, Oka-san. New year is near and everyone wants to eat to their heart's content." he says while her mother wipes his face. "Then why won't we sell more to make a feast for us to celebrate the new year, Tanjirou." Y/N said with the same big basket on his back full of charcoal. "Y/N-san, you shouldn't." she says with a worried look, "Don't be, Tanjirou and I will be back before you know it, right Tanjirou?" "Right!" he answered. "Thank you..." she says with a warm smile to them.

"Y/N nii-chan, Tanjirou nii-chan, are you going to the village today?" "I want to go too!" Shigeru and Hanaku overheard and want to come along. "No, you can't" Kie intervened the two, "But, Oka-san!" "No" she repeats, as the two went and plead to Tanjirou to let them come. Y/N chuckles at the scene in front of him as Tanjirou tries to calm his little siblings down. "Takeo, mind chopping a  few trees?" Y/N asks Takeo who stands idly by near the siblings with the head of an ax resting on his shoulder.

 "I guess I could. I thought we do it together, Y/N-san" he muttered under his breath to which Y/N replies with, "Sorry, sorry, sorry Takeo-chan" with his hands clap together. Y/N probably forgot to spend time with Takeo chopping woods. 

After Tanjiro calms down his 2 siblings, they can now head out to the village to sell the charcoal they carry. "Please come home quickly..." called out Shigeru continued by Hanako, "Be careful along the way!" as Y/N and Tanjirou both wave to them. 

"Onii-chan." they both look forward to see Nezuko walking up to them with Rokuta carried behind her back. "I just lulled Rokuta to sleep." she says to which Tanjirou walks up and rub Rokuta's head, "It's like everyone is stuck to you, Onii-chan. Also you Y/N-san." she says.

After Tanjirou, Y/N walks up and pats both Nezuko and Rokuta which surprised Nezuko as her cheek heats up a little to light pink. Tanjirou saw this and quickly moves in to pull Y/N away and start to head to the village. "Take care" Nezuko whispers while watching the two walk away through the woods.

Y/N's POV

"You're lucky to have a caring and loving family, Tanjirou" I said quite envious and out of the blue after we walk in silence. "That's right. But, what about yours? You didn't speak a single word about your family to us" he asks, intrigued as I look up and feel overwhelmed by what I might say to Tanjirou. "My family is like a total opposite to yours" the only answer I came up with. "Sorry" "Don't be. I'm just... glad... to meet you guys" I said but realized about me and the Kocho sisters. "There are other people you met before us right?" he asks to which I am appalled then chuckled, "You and your nose, Tanjirou." I said.

I took a deep breath as Tanjiro waits in silence while we walk, "I met this wonderful person, she was the first to show me what love is. She probably saves my life that day" I said, remembering the memories that day. "Is that person's name, Kanae?" he asks which shocks me to the bone. Staring at him with a confused look on my face, "You said that name before you passed out when I found you in the woods" he explains. "Yes... She is a beautiful woman with eyes that were pale violet,  bright and bug-like, with many notable white sparkles reflecting light off of them."

"Were?" "She died after I returned... from..." I said but trailed off, feeling my cheeks now wet due to the tears that I didn't notice. I wipe it off but more kept flowing until I couldn't hold it together and finally released the feelings that I held, "It was my fault! If only I came home early... It might end to a different path of her fate..." Tanjirou hugs my side to which I returned by rubing the top of his head with my hand. "Thanks, I needed to release that for a while now." I said to him, sniffing and fixing myself. "Your welcome. Come on, the village is nearby, just more steps down" he said as he head down in a quick pace to which I smile and followed behind him
