002

Author's POV:

Jimin stifled a yawn as his mathematics teacher chalked up a bizarre looking equation. He should be paying attention, he needs to pass this class; yet he couldn't bring himself to care.

Who needs an education when you're rich anyways?

After an eternity (which actually was just another twenty minutes) the usually irksome, yet right now relieving bell rang. He quickly shoved his books in the backpack and fled the torturous room.

“Freedom! Jimin cheered. A shove from behind made him stumble on his feet but the same person who shoved him held his bag, saving his ethereal visage from kissing the undeserving ground.

“Jiminie!” His friend greeted, who looked like a train wreck— albeit a hot one.

“Oh how blessed I am to see your ugly face” Jimin rolled his eyes at him.

“Pfft, you're in love with me baby” he grinned and immediately winced when Jimin smacked him across the back of his head.

“I actually need a ride back home. Coach made us practice extra hard today” he pouted.

“Alright drama queen” Jimin huffed as he continued walking towards his car. Being the fairy that he is, he dropped off his annoying buddy.

After fifteen minutes, Jimin parked his shiny black range rover in his driveway and slammed the door shut as he hung his bag over his shoulder. His gaze went to the beach, like it always did for the past week. He frowned when he saw the deserted beach. He missed that stranger and always kept wondering if he's alright.

Jimin's instincts told that the stranger kept his promise. Now he was just hoping to see him again to prove himself right.

Sighing in disappointment, Jimin went about his routine: which was napping, cooking for himself, studying and sleeping— only to repeat it all.

Late into the night, Jimin jolted awake. He tried to remember if he was dreaming but couldn't recall anything. Kicking his sheets away, he went to pee. As he came back he glanced at the digital clock on his bedside table; it read 2:58 AM.

He groaned and climbed back in bed. He closed his eyes but sleep evaded him. Sighing he sat up again, his gaze involuntarily going to the open window near his study table. He got up to go check, like he's been doing for the past week. His eyes widened as a familiar silhouette struck his vision. Squealing, Jimin ran down.

He panted placing his paws on his blessed thighs and looked at the figure strolling away from him.

“I should have joined the team” he regretted deliberately avoiding any type of sports in school.

As he glanced down he realized he ran out in his night clothes and his freaking house slippers!

(an: I'm guilty of doing this innumerable times).

“Jungkook! Jimin called out and the said man turned around.

He didn't smile at Jimin, although Jimin swears he saw his eyes light up.

Or it was probably the moonlight glinting in his eyes.

“You kept your promise” Jimin stated with a smile as he walked closer to him.

The urge to hug Jungkook was real, but before Jimin could raise his arms Jungkook started walking away from him. Jimin frowned but watched Jungkook walk towards the tree line and grab something.

“Thanks for that day, I appreciate it” Jungkook raised a black bag, which Jimin assumed had his dad's clothes since only now did he notice Jungkook was wearing different clothes.

A black sweatpant and black hoodie.

“You're welcome” Jimin took the bag. “So are you okay now?” He asked.

“I guess” Jungkook shrugged his shoulders.

Almost naturally both of them started walking side by side, strolling on the moonlit beach.

“Where were you for the past week?” Jimin asked and Jungkook looked at him with an indecipherable look.

“Around” he answered nonchalantly.

“Where did you sleep?” Jimin asked frowning.

'He said he didn't have a house' Jimin thought.

“In a park” Jungkook answered.

(an: wink wonk).

“You can live with me you know, I have lots of spare rooms” Jimin said.

Jungkook chuckled.

“What's so funny?” Jimin asked, bit offended despite loving the melody of his chuckle.

“Why are you so eager to let a stranger into your house? I could be a murderer or a psychopath” Jungkook gave a grin.

'He looks like a bunny! A harmless bunny!'  Jimin internally uwued.

“Something tells me you're not” Jimin stated arrogantly.

“What if I prove you otherwise?” Jungkook cocked his eyebrow.

Jimin's heart rate picked up and he looked around, contemplating on jetting off.

'I wanna help. I really do, but not by risking my own life!' he thought.

Despite his unathletic nature, Jimin ran away at Naruto speed and only halted when he locked his door behind him and slid down against it. Catching his breath, Jimin opened the bag he forgot he held all this time. He removed the clothes from within and a very inviting fragrance invaded his senses. Jimin held the folded clothes near his face and inhaled the tantalizing fragrance.

He moaned in satisfaction at the comforting musk. He knew it had to be Jungkook's natural scent; which happened to be surprisingly comforting and relaxing despite his frightening demeanor.

“Pabo!” Jimin chastised himself and got up to his feet and ran out again, leaving the clothes behind.

He knows he shouldn't, but he wants to give him a chance. If he doesn't, Jungkook might end up killing himself eventually. Everyone deserves the benefit of doubt.

“Thank heavens!” He exclaimed when he saw Jungkook sitting down at the beach. He was relieved he didn't leave.

“I'm sorry for running, I just got scared” Jimin said and he sat himself next to Jungkook who kept his gaze at the ocean.

“You should run back” he said in an icy tone without sparing a glance towards Jimin.

“No I'm sorry-” Jimin was going to explain himself but Jungkook cut him off.

“Don't be. You were right to run away. Everyone does, you should too” Jungkook said, anger lacing his tone and got up.

“No I'm sorry, please don't go” Jimin cried out as he held Jungkook back by gripping his forearm.

“You'll regret it” Jungkook said turning back and gripped Jimin's hand and removed it off his own.

“No! I want to help you please. I won't judge. No matter what you've done; well except murder. I don't want to harbour a homicidal criminal” Jimin giggled non-humorously at the end.

“How about an ex-criminal?” Jungkook asked with a slightly amused expression.

Jisoos crust! He's an ex-criminal, albeit a smooth one.

“Can you tell me what crime you did?” Jimin asked shakily.

This is more than what I bargained for.

“A few murders” Jungkook answered nonchalantly.

Jimin subconsciously took a step back and Jungkook chuckled.

“Go home” he said turning around and started walking away from him.

“Why did you do it?” Jimin enquired, hope bubbling in his chest.

Something told him the man in front of him wasn't a natural killer. There had to be more.

“Self-defense” Jungkook answered loudly, still walking away.

“Wait! You can stay with me” Jimin ran after him.

He didn't understand why but he really wanted to help this man, despite all the red flags. If he isn't going to give him a chance and alienate him, it's only going to push him further into ending his life. Jimin was willing to take the risk as he valued life. Whether it jeopardized his own, it didn't matter.

“Are you deranged?” Jungkook asked with a chuckle as Jimin stood in his way, panting softly.

“Says the ex-murderer” he rolled his eyes at Jungkook who smiled.

Jimin's heart actually skipped a beat, astonishing him.

“Come on, I'll help you get back on your feet” Jimin said locking their arms and dragged Jungkook along.

“No one's hiring me since I have a criminal record, especially that of homicide” Jungkook stated.

“Don't worry about that” Jimin smiled up at him.

“How am I going to pay you for rent and food?” Jungkook asked with a cocked eyebrow.

“You just don't” Jimin stated calmly and Jungkook immediately halted.

“Then I don't need your help” he said firmly.

“Okay, you pay me when you find a job. And as for the job, I have a friend who owns a café, I'll convince him to hire you” Jimin explained and Jungkook sighed.

“I know that's not much but I'll help you find other jobs too. If it still doesn't work out, I'll hire you myself” Jimin offered and again began dragging Jungkook along towards his home.

“You'll hire me?” Jungkook asked in disbelief, “you look no less than 16, how will you employ me?”.

“I don't exactly have a job in mind but do have the money to pay. And I'm 17” Jimin answered.

“You're 17 and have enough money to pay me for basically doing nothing?” Jungkook enquired, face clearly doubtful.

“My dad's a politician” Jimin said with an eye roll.

“Figures” Jungkook shrugged.

“I don't think he'll favour you harbouring a criminal” Jungkook pointed out and Jimin's eyes widened.

The thought didn't even cross my damn mind!

“Ex-criminal, emphasis on the ex please; and I can always hide you when dad visits” at Jimin's words Jungkook chuckled.

“You're putting a lot of faith in me Jimin”.

Jimin halted at Jungkook's words. He turned towards him with a smile, flattered to know he still remembered his name.

“Isn't that what we all need? Someone showing a little faith in us” Jimin said smugly.

“Indeed” Jungkook gave a nod of his head and they both entered the house as Jimin opened the door.

“There's a room here which dad uses when he comes here and then there's one spare upstairs, right in front of mine. Pick whichever you want” Jimin pointed at the hallway and offered with a smile as they stood in the living room.

“I don't think your dad would be glad if I used his room. I'll pick the one upstairs” Jungkook said and Jimin smiled even brighter.

“Good choice” he was internally hoping he chooses the one in front of his, for obvious reasons.

After that Jimin helped Jungkook settle in, looking forward to help him in any way he can. He felt extremely happy to help him despite the dark past the stranger seemed to have.
