Nurse's Office - Melanie Martinez

Jimin spoke too soon.

Way too fucking soon.

Why? Well because here he is, on this stupid rink with a pair of white ice skates on while trying to not fall face planted down. There's a mean scowl on his face as Jackson shows him how to glide against the ice but he didn't move, his way of protest of being here to begin with.

It's been five days already and Jimin has purposely fell multiple times, even if it hurts, refusing to skate but would get pushed by Jackson so he can move his feet. There's been a few times already that he's forgotten that this is a little trail in the program and Jimin would find himself easily skating while Jackson was busy in his office, maybe even trying twirls like how he would do in ballet. Of course it's different for ice skating but he did have balance to be able to succeed it well.

As strange as it is, Jimin wasn't actually finding this too much of a burden as he makes it seem to be. If anything, he was finding some sort of determination to steady more his skating skills early in the morning before more skaters come in to practice or before the coaches could notice him to inform Jackson. Something about gliding on the ice feels satisfying, in a strange way, but Jimin wasn't going to give Jackson that benefit of a doubt.

So that's why he only hid his efforts, up until his supposedly partner came in on time to her time for their practice, but she never really said anything for his sake. Nayeon, a more professional figure skater and someone who can easily get along with anyone to be paired with if Jackson does end up wanting to keep Jimin in the program.

She's nice, a damn good skater too, but obviously Jimin didn't want to give in the effort to be in this program a day long. When Jackson would just watch and observe them, Nayeon would just guide Jimin through more moves but their connection was just not working out.

Even off the ice when Jackson wanted to teach them a choreography in the practice room, it just wasn't working out since they're are far different levels. Sure, in ballet Jimin has danced multiple times with female dancers so gender roles has nothing to do with it. But Nayeon lacked something that Jimin had, and it was being risky.

The moves she did was sharp and gentle, but it needs to look as though she's feeling the music and not just listening to it in a robotic movement. It was obvious that Jimin was a vast step ahead of her while practicing the choreography, even Jackson noticed it, and Nayeon was refusing to let herself open up more to stay on the safe side.

So typical.

By the end of the day, Jackson turned off the music and hands a water bottle to each pair, "It's been five days and this is not working," Jimin grew a seed of hope, "However I refuse to give in to the idea that it's impossible, especially for you Jimin."

Oh great.

Well, Jimin has two days to prove just how pointless this time has been for the three of them if he wants to be stubborn.

But seems like Jackson had other plans.

He smiles widely, crossing his fingers behind his back, "I know exactly what to do to fix this right up!"

"Jeongguk! Have you seen my skates?!"

The ravenette haired boy looks around the locker room, finding a pair of familiar black skates leaning against a locker. So he points to it.

"H-Here."

Ten rounds the corner to where he heard Jeongguk's small voice, eyes falling to his ice skates in relief before moving past Jeongguk -After caressing his hair as a demonstration to his appreciation- and grabbed his skates.

"I was looking for these all over the place," Ten sighs and turns to him, just as Jeongguk was zipping up his top of the uniform, "Ready for practice?"

Most of the time Jeongguk would look forward to practice because it's his own way of a distraction. He pours whatever he is feeling out onto the ice and feel the adrenaline of the speed when he moves along with the skates. Genuinely he enjoys doing both short speed skating and long speed skating when he practices, something Felix influenced onto him to do in order in order to enhance his flexibility to skate for either event.

Since Jeongguk now has taken quite the reputation and determination for the 1500m after his gold medal win, Felix does the 500m events. However if there's ever a time that Jeongguk isn't able to do it than Felix will, or if Felix can't do it than either Jeongguk or Hongjoong will do it depending on the competition.

So to give a more perspective on the sport itself; there's the 500 meters, 1,000 meters, 1,500 meters, and 3,000 meters. Then there's the relay race, which is 5,000 meters for the men's team.

Breaking up the team now to their positions; Felix, Hongjoong, and Ten do the 500m event since they're the fastest in the team when it comes to short distances.

1,000m is usually relying more on speed with a bit of stamina so Woosung, Minho, and Karma usually do that event.

For the 1,500 meters, that's more of Jeongguk, Seokjin, and either Karma or Felix participate in this event depending on the competition.

Typically they don't want to use Felix for that event since they want to save him up for the 3,000 meters.

Now, for the killer event, 3,000m. This is the event for the skaters with hard killer stamina, great balance, and speed. Felix is without a doubt in this event, then it's Jeongguk with then either Ten or Minho.

Lastly the relay race, which definitely varies on the competition. Since Felix already did a lot of hefty events, he's out for this one. For this event it's usually Woosung in his intelligent way of starting, next being Seokjin's time to shine since he's definitely skilled in keeping a good pace, followed by Minho, and lastly Hongjoong. This is the star ideal relay team, always having their consecutive wins even outside the Olympics.

So that's how the team works, for many years now, and they continue to strive together as a team for the win no matter how rough it gets. That's why they practice hard, not just because the coach tells them to but because they thirst for this win.

And they feed off each other's energy to accomplish just that.

Now they've been here, practicing for hours on this hard day of workouts to work on their endurance and speed with Hoseok barking orders to the side. Eventually they all split to practice their own events while the others either went to the weight room to lift or go do rounds on the staircase and then would rotate.

Jeongguk worked his body off to the last brim, leaving him panting by the time he practically drops onto the ice once reaching the finish line with both Felix and Hongjoong just centimeters behind him. He didn't care by this point anymore how hard he pushed himself, feeling only his body grow harshly numb but buzzing at the same time to the ache on his thighs and arms when he drops to the ice in exhaustion.

He lays on his back now, eyes closed, trying to gather himself together and not let the dry pain in his throat affect him too much but with a smile because he knew he did well today.

He loves this feeling, this mix of pain and numbness; means his body is working hard and his mental capacity is stretching to push himself.

It's euphoric.

A whistle echoes the rink, snapping Jeongguk's attention from starting at the piercing lights and to the side where the noise came from.

Hoseok is leaning against the dasher boards, clapping it up for everyone with a proud smile as the teammates from the weight room and working on the stairs also arrived to his whistle, panting in high pitch breathes.

No one wanted to move right now and thankfully none of Jeongguk's teammates didn't bother to help him up, letting him catch himself together alone.

Through his pounding heart beat hammering his ears, he heard Hoseok through his hearing aids go on about how everyone did well in practice today and told them that since Olympic season is over, practices are going to be less frequent than usual just to give them the chance to recover from the pressure.

Their next competition is around seven months unless the schedule changes, so they have enough time to rest and practice whenever they can, but of course to never lose their focus in regards to being in shape and the value of coming to practice when they do have it.

By the time Hoseok finishes, he dismisses everyone to take the next two weeks off.

That was definitely a call for a celebration.

A breathless smile stretched Jeongguk's lips to the hollers circulating the rink, even feeling himself go into completely relaxation to the sound of that. The joy was so overwhelming that even his teammates threw themselves to his body on the ice, nearly squishing him down if it wasn't for Minho making sure their team baby was still breathing.

Plans to celebrate kept circulating around as team got off the ice, throwing in suggestions about going to eat dinner or just hang around the city.

Jeongguk strayed back from them, smiling to their enthusiasm as they enter the locker room to get their stuff and change.

However, when Jeongguk was just about to go inside, his shoulder bumps into someone along the way. The fact that he was still on his skates but with the guards on nearly threw him off balance, but he was quick to extend a hand to the doorframe to keep himself from falling.

Damn, this person is strong-

"Fuck- Excuse me."

That has to be the most rudest tone Jeongguk has ever heard in his life.

Not even from his competition when he competes.

It was a voice so dry, clearly annoyed and just so.... Eerie, if that makes sense. It was enough to make someone cry if they had sensible emotions, and it was just a plain sentence.

Jeongguk had to advert his attention to it, looking to the person where the voice came from, immediately meeting a familiar face before his eyes.

The once strawberry blonde hair from the bleachers is now raven black, shiny and caressing his face neatly as though he combed it through with gentle waves. Familiar sharp feline eyes, sullen cheeks but plump lips to show such a contrast that Jeongguk probably has never noticed before until now. Actually no, he's never noticed it since he's never seen this man so close to his face before.

Not until now.

Park Jimin.

The man who broke his brother's heart.

There's an awkward moment where the two didn't say anything, not like Jeongguk could either way, but it's clear to both of them that they are acquainted with one another. They know the history that connects them somehow, and no matter how hard Jeongguk tried to make this as a problem between Namjoon and Jimin only to not involve himself in, he couldn't help himself.

A brutal and annoyed scowl makeshifts his face, trying hard to not roll his eyes as he moves and shoulder bumps past him to get inside the locker room. He didn't even bother checking to see if he was still staring at him, not like he cared.

Namjoon has been coping through their breakup so horribly when Jimin called it quits that he even couldn't stay in his dorm anymore, decided to stay with Jeongguk for a few days. His teammates were very supportive of course, comforting the heartbroken boy despite not knowing what was going on, and Jeongguk from there was never able to most past this boiling anger towards the other man.

At least now Namjoon has grown better, even is starting to talk to someone again, but he's obviously taking it slow so what happened with Jimin wouldn't happen again. However it's obvious he's still hurt about Jimin, that's something Jeongguk is not naïve to.

Jeongguk takes family seriously, whether it's the team or blood family - well only Namjoon, whoever messes with them will automatically get on his bad side.

And Jimin just won the throne by destroying his big brother's heart.

Something he's never going to forgive him for.
