Fireworks - First Aid Kit

A loud smack abruptly slams against the sturdy ice, followed by a small yelp that forced Jeongguk to stop skating, a heavy annoyed sigh easing his lips in displease. He really tried not to get irritated since obviously, Jimin is no professional skater, but this is probably the fifth time he has landed onto the ice and they're not even doing pair work together.

Sure, maybe Jeongguk was a bit rusty in the beginning because of the pick and the adjusting to the overall different feel of the skates, but he quickly got the hang of it since being on the ice isn't exactly a mission impossible for him.

If anything, skating feels so much more easier than walking, and being able to figure skate just boosts his confidence to this new area he's exploring and getting it down.

Meanwhile for Jimin, Jeongguk was having a hard time deciding if he was doing this on purpose or he really is struggling with skating. It's been two weeks already since their meeting, and sometimes when they would practice things such as gliding the corners together or having in sync steps, Jimin seems to get it quickly. However when he's alone, practicing spins or jumps, he struggles horrifically.

Sometimes Jeongguk does feel bad for him, but thankfully Jackson is not an asshole and tries to guide him through it instead of yelling at him. Recently he told them that they have an event coming up in a month from now, so Jimin has been extra hard on himself to get adjusted to the ice. Even though Jackson has stated that there's no jumping involved in the choreography that he has in mind, Jimin still didn't spend a day where he didn't try spinning or jumping even after practice.

It's clear to say that he's scared, that's why he always ends up failing every single time despite being a risk taker to fight against it. This new field for him is clearly new and even though sometimes he does get it somewhat right, that doesn't take away the times he has failed.

Jeongguk has managed to learn the spins and maybe not entirely the jumps yet, but he's confident enough in himself to get it down perfectly fine. It sucks that he can't really give tips to Jimin in regards to how to better himself in the moment because of his speaking, and even if he plans to approach him after practice with a tablet to talk to him, Jimin always leaves before he could catch up to him.

Don't get him wrong, Jeongguk still doesn't like him, but as he said, he's a professional. They have to met eye to eye when they're out on the ice, especially now that they're a team. If they're going to perform their best, it has to be the absolute best and not just a small percentage to what they can really do

So that's why after a few more failed attempts from Jimin and Jackson dismissing the lesson for today, leaving in a hurry because of a phone call, Jimin was just about ready to stomp out of the ice in clear aggravation to move on with his day but Jeongguk has caught up to him and grabbed his arm before he could step out of the rink.

Jimin cranes his head back, eyebrows furrowed in irritation but he stops in his movements with a deep grimace, "What?"

They haven't really interacted together this past two weeks that they've been practicing, not unless it's in the training room where they go over positions with Jackson that would be used out on the rink, but just physical contact but not so much.... Speaking, obviously.

That's why this is pretty odd that they're interacting now after the lesson. Jeongguk's only drive right now to even associate himself with him is to just perfect the routine, to not look like a dumbass when the event arrives since they're literally going to be fight against the world at that moment.

He did say anything Jimin lacked, he would guide him.

So he's going to do just that.

"Stay," Jeongguk says quietly, hoping it didn't sound odd since he can't exactly explain what he wants but that Jimin still managed to understand what he means.

The request clearly confused Jimin a little, but Jeongguk only trails his hand down to his wrist while his other hand also clasps around his other wrist, carefully guiding him forward. Jimin, unlike his usual grunting nature, didn't say anything but was clearly on his guard as Jeongguk skated backwards so they could be at the center of the rink.

And he lets him go, "Spin."

Now Jimin was for sure looking at Jeongguk as though he asked him to lick the ice. That familiar scowl plastered his lips was almost like a permanent expression by how much he wears it, but despite that he still tried to spin.

Jeongguk ended up shooting his hand to his shoulders to steady him when he lost his balance, again, making Jimin let out a frustrated screech between his teeth.

"This is so fucking stupid! No matter how hard I try, I can never get this right!" Jimin angrily spits, stomping down onto the ice, "This is probably life's way of slowing me down. So much for you getting to my level, now I'm so behind-"

Suddenly Jeongguk grabs Jimin by the hand, raising it above his head and aggressively turns him into a spin. This time a shriek stumble out of his lips, once again nearly losing his balance but his tight hold to Jeongguk's hand kept him stable. His fierce eyes sneers for Jeongguk, ready to say something but Jeongguk once against turns him.

This time he didn't lose his balance since he was on his guard now, but the spin was atrocious.

"Can you stop that! I'm going to fall-"

"Quiet," This time Jeongguk's voice is cold and stern, letting out a heavy breath when Jimin looks up to his eyes, "Practice."

It's obvious that Jimin wanted to be stubborn. Of course he did. He wanted to leave this rink and not face this overwhelming humiliation by being with Jeongguk's presence teaching him how to spin. It's not like this is how Jeongguk wants to spend his free time either way, but not like he has a choice when his partner is struggling and a show is happening soon.

There's a lot of pressure now, possibly a lot of expectations from the audience once they find out who are going to perform. Criticism is bound to rise, so they have to leave an impressive mark.

Jimin knew this, drives off wanting to be perfect, so that's why he only purses his lips and embraces himself as Jeongguk once again turns him.

After a few tries more, Jimin's spins began to look more and more effortless with Jeongguk's wordless guidance. Even Jimin grew more and more confident doing the rotation that after one hard tug, Jeongguk let's go of his hand.

And Jimin is spinning on his own.

All the way until he stops, facing Jeongguk with his awestruck expression.

He did it.

Not like how a spin is suppose to be since Jeongguk was guiding him but this is a step to him being comfortable to the rotation, to which will help him exceed when doing it on his own.

This is a good start, even for him.

Clearly Jimin is at a loss of words, his ego being a little nudged to the fact that he had to get help to discover the trick to the spin. It's all over his face by how he stares at Jeongguk with those conflicting eyes, lips parting as though he's debating whether to speak or not.

But Jeongguk saved him the trouble.

He only gives him a curt nod, "Partner," Hoping that was enough for Jimin to understand why Jeongguk did what he did, before the ravenette skates to the open boards and gets off the ice.

Jeongguk tried not to overthink too much about the tender feeling about knowing he did something nice for someone, but he couldn't stop smiling. His heart skips a beat a little when he brought his hand up to rub his hair away from his face, only to be hit by the scent of candy by Jimin's lotion that he rubbed off when their hands were holding each other.

Jeongguk was a big confused to that odd sensation in his chest but shrugs it away, deciding he might have forgotten to take his pills for his anxiety before putting on his guards and heading to the locker room to change.

While Jimin also felt that same feeling too, and wasn't so naïve to what that strange feeling was.

And he hated it already.
