Unravelment
After news spread I was possibly the Busan Killer, no one really dared to bully me in jail anymore, which I guessed was good. After five days of being detained, I wasonce again taken into a questioning room, facing the intimidating Investigator Yun.
"How did you do it?" He said before I could even sit down properly.
"Do what?" I asked, fiddling with the uncomfortable cuffs on my wrist.
"Do you have an accomplice? Is there another Busan Killer who did the murder yesterday?"
I was immensely relieved in my heart to hear that the plan was indeed carried forward like we had said. However, I obviously could not show it.
"As I've said so many times, I am not the Busan Killer," I stated as convincingly as I could. I was still somewhat nervous even thought what I just said was the complete truth.
He looked at me and I could see that his believe about me being the Busan Killer was starting to waver, which was exactly what I needed.
A police came into the room and said, "Someone is here to see Song Yerin."
A smile appeared on my face, was it Jimin? Was it Jungkook? The police escorted me around the unfamiliar place to a room where it was separated into sections, as used for visiting of the inmates by outsiders.
I was told to go into one of the section and sit down. I eagerly did so, but my face fell when I realized who it was. Sitting on opposite side of the glass, picking up the phone, was my father.
"Yerin," he said through the phone when I picked my end up, "You ungrateful daughter."
"What?" My brows furrowed.
"I worked so hard to raise you only for you to become a criminal!?" He said harshly.
"I'm not a criminal." I said back calmly.
"I'm not stupid, Yerin. The whole Korea knows that you're the Busan Killer. Why would you? Now who's going to send me money?"
I scoffed, "So you only see your daughter as a source of money?"
"All these things I've done for you, now this is what you pay me back with!?" He glared at me.
I've had enough of his bullshit, so finally, I actually had the courage to retaliate. "All you've done for me? What have you done for me? You drank until you pass out, and left me to take care of you. Shouldn't it have been the other way around?"
He eyes widened as he was shocked that I talked back to him for once. I was always the nice and gentle daughter who never dared to defy her parents. The me a year ago would never have even come close to thinking of sassing my father.
"You- You-" he was in a lost for words.
"I I what? I have been the most obedient daughter, yet you exploited that and made me pay for all your alcohol. And I'm the bad one?"
How mouth opened and closed like an ugly goldfish. I could see that his grasp on the phone was getting tighter and tighter and his fists began to shake. I had wanted to say more but stopped myself when I saw that.
"You," my father gritted out, "You are so dead."
I glanced at the jail guard on his side of the glass and saw he was watching our exchange too. Suddenly an idea came into my mind.
"What, are you going to kill me?" I said in a taunting voice.
"You!" Even his face was starting to turn red.
I continued with my provocation. "Or are you going to drink yourself away like you always have done and hope for a miracle that randomly kills me?"
"I will fucking kill you myself."
"Right? Isn't that what you said to Mum when she divorced you? Isn't she all alive and well now? I heard she even remarried to a rich guy."
That did it. He abruptly stood up, slamming his hands into the table in front of him, which caused me to flinched slightly away from the phone I held as it made a strange noise. He balled up his fist and bought it down to the glass, seemingly aiming straight at my face. My hand that rested on the table connected to the glass even felt the vibration.
The jail guard behind him immediately took steps up to him and tried to stop him, but what my father did next even surprised me. He turned around and threw a hard punch at that jail guard, causing him to stumble backward holding his face. Was my father drunk?
Yes, go on, continue with your rage, I thought to myself.
The guard spoke into a walkie-talkie and in a short while, two more guards arrived into the room. They had to all jump on my father at the same time before they could stop his blind rage. I was delighted when one of them took out a pair of cuffs and locked them around my struggling father's wrists. He was taken away by the three.
I was also escorted back to my cell by another guard. I walked happily to the bed to sit on it. But it was only after I had calmed down I realized fully what I've done. I manipulated my closest relative into committing crime so that he would be arrested. I manipulated him so that he would be out of my sight. I manipulated him out of my hatred for him.
And I was happy.
Why had I changed? Since when did I become someone like this?
But I didn't have much time to be shocked as a female guard came to get me. I thought that I was being bought to be questioned again before I realized I was going somewhere else. I was bought into a room that looked nicer than the rest of the facility.
My face lit up when I saw who it was.
"Jungkook!" I hurried up to him and was about to hug him before remembering I still had cuffs on. Jungkook saw them and chuckled. He looked at the guard, who came and unlocked the cuffs, freeing my slightly sore wrists.
"Yerin, I missed you!" Jungkook said as he took hold of my hands.
I was confused Jungkook's sudden cheerfulness. We were friends before, but we were never so close that he would be so elated to see me again.
"Come on babe, you're free." He handed me a bag. Babe? Oh...of course. I told the police that he was my boyfriend and that's exactly what he was acting like.
I opened the bag to see that it was some of my clothes. "Thank you Jungkook, I love you." I said back cheerfully.
"I love you too!" He replied before leaving the room to wait for me outside. I quickly changed into the familiar clothes, still under that watch of that guard, and ran out after where Jungkook had went. It was the front of that jail where friends and relatives of the inmates would come to wait when they wanted to visit them. I quickly spotted Jungkook and ran up to him. I threw my arms around him. He picked my up and spun me around once.
However, when I was spinning, I caught sight of someone watching us from behind. When Jungkook put me down, I turned back around only to be met with the scrutinizing gaze of Investogator Yun. He was leaning on the wall with his arms crossed, observing us closely. Was he not happy that I was leaving so soon?
With him watching, I had to make sure there was nothing suspicious for him to catch onto. I turned to gaze at Jungkook lovingly before we walked out of the facility hand in hand. We got into a car which he started driving.
After quite a while, we arrived back at Yoongi's mansion. Even though I hadn't really been in that jail for long, it felt as if I haven't seen this place in weeks. I got out of the the car and when I saw who just walked out of the doors of the mansion, my eyes widened in glee.
I dropped the bag I was holding in my hand and sprinted up into the opened arms of Jimin. I immediately kissed him on his lips as if I hadn't done so in years, which he returned equally passionately.
"Jimin, I missed you much..." I whispered breathlessly as I stared at his face, feasting my eyes on his beautiful features once again.
"So did I, Baby." He smiled, also slightly out of breath.
"Alright, guys, you can save it for tonight," Jungkook chuckled as he picked up the bag I dropped and walked past us. "Let's get Yerin settle down."
Jimin and I reluactantly pulled away from the embrace and walked back into the mansion after Jungkook.
