Reassurance
As soon as we entered our apartment I turned around and threw my arms around Jimin, burying my face into the crook of his neck. He didn't ask, only silently stroked my hair.
"I don't want to lose you," I whispered, my voice muffled by his shirt.
Jimin placed a kiss on my head. "You won't."
I looked up at him with worry in my eyes. "But-"
He shut me up by grabbing my chin and smashing his lips onto mine. I couldn't help but move in sync with him.
He pulled away as we both ran out of breath. He linked hands with me and walked me into the bedroom. Sitting me down on the bed, he crouched down to look at me.
"We will be fine," he stated firmly.
"But how do you know?" I asked. "He knows Seoyun is not the Busan Killer, and he probably suspects you too. He probably knows a lot of evidence and he-"
"Stop talking," Jimin commanded.
"But if you are discovered-"
"Stop talking," he reiterated firmly.
"No you don't understand, he-"
"God I can't be gentle with you."
Saying that, he pushed me onto my back and once again connected our lips roughly. His warm hands cupped either side of my face as he pressed his muscular body against mine. I could feel his chest heaving up and down every time he took a breath. Our closeness reminded me of the joy of his presence in my life, and it also reaffirmed reality of my situation, how I've become so used to having Jimin in my life already.
He pulled back again and his strong gaze burned into me.
"You will not lose me."
"But Yun knows," I uttered.
"But who am I?"
I said confusedly, "Jimin?"
"Who am I?"
"...the Busan Killer?"
"Exactly. I have gotten away with more than thirty murders. Do you really think I can't overcome a mere investigator?"
I shook my head, feeling slightly relieved after hearing his words. "I- I just don't want us to be separated..."
"I know," he muttered. He grabbed the 'J' pendant and held it to his lips, "You are mine and no one will change that."
-----
"That investigator is the one that sent the notes?" Yoongi questioned in surprise. Jimin and I were in his office discussing what we found out.
I nodded. "He somehow became friends with my mum, and my mum invited me and Jimin to have dinner with in his house. I saw he has the exact same hat the person following me has been wearing."
"Are you sure he doesn't just happen to have the same hat?" Yoongi asked.
"I'm pretty sure it's him. He saw me looking at the hat and I could tell from his expression that he knew what I was thinking," I explained.
"Alright," Yoongi turned his leather chair and grabbed his mobile on the desk, "Let's me just check something." He pressed something on his phone and held it to his ears. "Hello, yes, Commissioner General, it's me.... I am calling to ask about an investigator in one of your squadrons, his surname is Yun... Yes, I believe he was the head investigator of the Busan Killer case.... He is? Why? ...Thank you for telling me. Yes, of course, I'd love to go golfing with you next week. Alright, goodbye."
"That investigator Yun," Yoongi said after putting his phone back onto his desk, "he was fired from the police force months ago."
Jimin's brows furrowed. "Why?"
"Apparently he was adamant to investigate Yerin further."
"He was still trying to investigate me this whole time!?"
Yoongi nodded, "The Commissioner General of the Police Force told me Yun was so committed that he even went against her when she tried to close the case."
"So... he has been investigating me on his own after that?"
"Most likely," Yoongi said, "seeing as he probably befriended your mum for that purpose only."
I thought back to the notes. "No, but that doesn't make sense. He said he knows I'm not the Busan Killer."
"He probably found some evidence against that along the way," Yoongi hypothesised.
"The notes," I said, "did you find out anything from them?"
"No," Yoongi said. "There was not a trace of evidence. Not even fingerprints."
"Does that mean I might have got it wrong?"
Yoongi shook his head. "No. The exact opposite in fact. The note-sender hid his identity very well, which means he must be a professional. Yun was an investigator so he would know how to do that."
"So it's him. W-What do we do then?" I asked.
"We don't know who he suspects yet," Yoongi said, "but most likely it is Jimin. So there are three options: either to try to do what we did last time, and somehow wash off Jimin's suspicion, or we find a dirty secret of his and threaten him with it... or we kill him."
"Kill him," Jimin said without a thought. "That leaves no possible future trouble."
Yoongi nodded, "I think that's the best option too. What do you think, Yerin?"
I looked down in contemplation. I didn't want to kill, but as I had said, Jimin's safety was of more paramount importance than anyone's life, so I nodded. "Yes, kill him."
Yoongi smirked. "Alright, I will arrange for him to be assassinated."
