Meeting

I slowly opened my eyes to only find an empty bed in front of me. As much as I didn't want to admit it, I was slightly disappointed. Oh well, what did I expect? For Jimin stay in bed and wait for me to wake up and give me a morning kiss and have breakfast together like in romantic novels? I scoffed at my own imagination. Maybe in a parallel universe.

I checked the time on my phone and it was 9:17. It was Wednesday today, which was my only day off, so I could stay in bed for a while longer. I rolled over to a more comfortable position occupying the whole bed, and stared blankly at the ceiling. I studied the Brownian motion of the dust particles as they were caught in the ray of sunlight that shined through the gap in the curtains. A strange feeling of emptiness suddenly washed over me.

After lying in bed for a bit more than ten minutes, I got up and washed. I decided that I would go for a destination-less walk, just to clear my head or something. I changed into some casual clothes, and exited my apartment.

I walked around the city aimlessly as I tried to force the thoughts of what happened the past week out of my head. But whenever I walked past familiar areas like the park, those memories begin to resurface. They were much like a persistent toothache at the back of my mind that I just couldn't get rid of.

I was hungry so I decided to finally go home after what seemed like hours of walking. But when I was a few minutes away from my apartment building, a familiar voice caught my attention.

"No, you know that's not true." Jimin's voice, rather hostile, entered my ears from somewhere nearby. I followed the direction which I thought his voice came from and I arrived at a smaller street that branched form the main street I was walking on. I peaked around the corner and saw that Jimin was talking with another guy who was a bit taller than him.

"Really? From what I can see it really does seem like it." The guy said to Jimin.

"I don't know how many time I have to say this; I am not in love with her." Jimin retaliated. I raised my eyebrows.

"Hyung, you haven't killed anyone since you started stalking her." He said.

"I don't schedule my kills." Jimin said. Suddenly the other guy seemed to have caught sight of me and he smirked.

"Well, who do we have here?" He said as he pushed passed Jimin and approached me.

Jimin's brows furrowed, "Yerin."

The other guy chuckled, "So this is the girl, huh?" He extended a hand to me and smiled. "Hello, my name is Jeon Jungkook.'

I hesitatingly shook his hand, "Song Yerin." I looked to Jimin for an explanation.

"Jungkook is... an acquaintance." Jimin said.

"Oh, you have friends?" I was genuinely surprised.

"I'm a contract killer." The guy, Jungkook, said.

"Oh... that's...cool?" I avoided his intense stare.

"Aren't you going to scream and run away?" He asked curiously.

I shrugged. "You only kill when someone pay you to, right? I don think anyone would want to pay to kill me so..."

Jungkook chuckled, "Interesting."

Jimin sighed. "Jungkook, I'm going. Don't bother me." Jimin shoved passed him, put an arm tightly around my shoulder, and started leading me away. I looked back to see Jungkook waving and smiling at me, looking nothing like the profession he claimed he was.

But I was hurried away by Jimin before I could say anything.

"Why are you here?" Jimin asked.

"I was just taking a walk..." I answered.

"I swear you run into the worst things." He muttered.

"Why, what's wrong with Jungkook?"

"You should stay away from him."

"Why?"

"Just do."

I got the sense that he wouldn't tell me much even if I pressed on, so I dropped the topic. I realized that he was leading me to where he lived.

"Why are we going to yours?" I asked.

"You run into trouble the second I take my eyes off you."

"...Wait, aren't the police still following me?"

"No. I left them some evidence that leads them other way. They are investigating that now."

"Oh right... Thanks?"

We continued walking along the busy street. To be honest, I was rather enjoying having his arm wrapped around my back, but of course I was not going to show it.

"Yerin? Is that you." A familiar voice asked. I looked over to see a confused Yunji near me.

"Hey, Yunji." I greeted.

"Hello... Who is this?" She said, eyeing Jimin.

"My name is Park Jimin. I'm Yerin's boyfriend." Jimin flashed a charming smile to Yunji. I had to stop myself from raising an eyebrow. He was a pretty good actor I guess.

"Oh?" Her questioning gaze moved back onto me.

I felt Jimin's hand that was on my arm started squeezing very hard, as if warning the consequences if I denied this, so I played along and nodded at Yunji.

"That's... great, Yerin!" She smiled, but I could tell she was not entire convinced about this. "When did you guys meet?"

"Um, September." I said.

"We have to go now," Jimin said, still with a ton of charisma, "But it was nice meeting you, Yunji."

"You too." Yunji answered. Jimin then guided me away from her and continued down the street.

"Charming act huh?" I commented. He had reverted back to himself and stayed silent.

We soon arrived at his apartment. He unlocked the door and guided me in. He pushed me onto the sofa.

"Stay here." He said in a warning voice.

"Wait, so are you... kidnapping me?"

"Yea." He leaned down, reached onto my thigh, and took something out of my pocket. It was my phone. "I'm confiscating that. I'll go get your things from your apartment now."

"But... But I have to go to my jobs! And I have to send money to my father soon..."

"Don't worry about that." He simply said.

"What do you mean? Wait, wait!" I shouted when he started to leave.

"Don't forget my laptop! And chargers!" I shouted through the door as he locked me in.
