Journey

I looked out to the scenery that was flying past the outside of the car window as I rested my head on my hand, elbow on the door handle. Taehyung sat beside me in the driver's seat, delivering us to my dangerous destination.

"Taehyung," I started.

"Yes, Yerin?" He said.

"What is Kim Namjoon like?" I asked.

"Umm," he thought for a bit, "He is a strict person. He forced me to train all the time and I didn't like it. He said it's for my own good but all I want to do is live a normal life."

"You want to live a normal life?" Now that was news to me. I still remembered how the first time we spoke he told me that he wanted to be a cool assassin like those in the movies; not that I didn't know it was a farce as a spy, of course. It was just that I never noticed Taehyung wanted to get out of this life involving the underworld and power play.

He nodded, not taking his eyes off the road. "I never had the choice. I was 'adopted', well, bought by Leader Kim from the orphanage around four years ago. My whole life up until here was split between the miserable orphanage and the intensive training of Leader Kim."

"If I may ask... what was the orphanage like?"

Taehyung gripped the steering wheel tighter. "I shared a big room with nine other boys. The bigger ones bullied the smaller ones and take their food. Luckily, I learned quickly and managed to stay out of most of it."

"Wow," was all I could manage to say. I never bothered to even ask Taehyung about his past. Now I was starting to regret that.

He continued, "The only good memory I have of the orphanage is the old computer in the orphanage master's study. I always used to sneak in there and play with it whenever he was out."

I smiled, "Is that how you became good at all those who did you computer stuff?"

He shook his head, "Leader Kim gave me a second hand laptop after adopting me. When ever I had a break I would self-teach coding and algorithm, and hacking, of course, things like that."

I listened attentively. I felt a little sorry for him for his terrible past. I had always seen my past as unbearable, but now that I thought about it, at least I had a family for a while, and I was able to go to university even if I had to drop out half way. In that sense, I was quite fortunate. A tiny trace of guilt crept up as I thought of my own pity party.

"I've met your brother once," Taehyung said.

I looked up, "Really? When?"

"It was...I think two months before I joined FIRE. Hoseok-hyung came to my training site with Leader Kim one day. He was really nice to me. He even chatted with me for a bit. Wait..." Taehyung's expression changed.

"What?" I inquired.

"I just remembered, he actually talked about you!"

"Really? What did he say!?"

"He didn't say any names but he said something about his sister, and how he missed her and was planning with Leader Kim to get in to touch with her. I never realised it was you."

"Hoseok-oppa..." I muttered, missing him. I hoped that I would see him this time when I go there. One of the reason I agreed to go as bait was because I wanted to talk to my brother, and maybe save him from going down along with the demise that would certainly befall Bludhood.

"I really hope this will go well," I said.

Taehyung nodded, "I really don't want you getting hurt. I'll try my best to prevent that when we're there."

"Thanks Taehyung." I smiled.

"But I'm still worried about that follower of yours," Taehyung said. "It shouldn't be a member of Bludhood. All of them are either killed or have retreated from that area."

I shrugged, "I'm sure it's nothing. Maybe just a random, creepy stalker or something. Haha, I swear I have the tendency to attract stalkers!" I laughed awkwardly.

"Umm..." Taehyung was evidently doubtful, but he let it go.

We fell into silence afterward. My mind took the chance to drift back to the event that took place just this morning before we left for Goyang.

"Baby," Jimin kissed me on the forehead after pulling me into him. "Be safe."

My arms went around his torso and I buried my face into the crook of his neck, "I will. My brother will be there, he won't let Kim Namjoon hurt me."

"I don't trust him," Jimin said coldly.

"I know Hoseok-oppa will never do anything hurt me," I replied. "I know he kidnapped us, but that was only because he was desperate to get me back. I'm sure Kim Namjoon has been lying to him about FIRE, that's why he hates us."

Jimin turned me around and put something around my neck. I realised it was the 'J' necklace.

"Keep this on," he ordered. I turned back around and nodded. I tiptoed to give him a final kiss on the lips before exiting our apartment.
