FIRE

"What do you think you are doing?" Venom dripped from Jimin's voice as he held the taller man by his collar.

"It's done. He will want to meet Yerin. Hyung you can't do anything about it." Jungkook smirked, referring again to the 'friend' of theirs.

"You told him about her!?" Jimin roared into Jungkook's ears as he tightened his gripped on him.

"Yea."

Jimin was raging so hard that he looked like he was about to kill someone, which he was very likely about to do to Jungkook.

"What is going on here!?" I intervened the heated exchange between the two.

Jimin looked at me, "You went with him?"

"Well Jungkook kind of dragged me out, and it's your fault for locking me up."

"And you decided to go with a man you barely know?" Jimin questioned.

"If you put it that way, I barely know you!" I retaliated.

He was silent.

Seeing the tension between me and Jimin, Jungkook spoke, "Alright, let's not argue. I need to go now to report back to him. Jimin you know how to dispose of Yerin's shoes."

"Why do my shoes need to be disposed of?" I asked

"It's good practice to throw away the shoes you wore during killing." Jungkook answered.

"Oh, I like these shoes..." I pouted

"Ah... I'll take you shopping later." Jungkook said.

"No you won't." Jimin warned.

Jungkook shrugged, and shook off Jimin's grasp. He then left us.

Jimin sighed heavily, and starting 'escorting' me back to his apartment. He didn't talk for the whole way.

"Jimin, are you really that angry at me?" I asked when we arrived back at his.

He sighed, "This is why I had you locked in here. Now you've gone to do the very thing I didn't want you to do."

"Do what?"

"Make him want to meet you."

"Who's the 'him' you two keep going on about?" I asked.

"He's an old friend of ours." Jimin answered, "And arguably the most powerful person in the Korean Underworld."

I raised my eyebrows, "And why would he want to meet me?"

"I don't know. No one can ever tell what he's thinking."

"He really sounds dangerous," I said, "Can I not go?"

"No. If you defy him, not even I can keep you safe."

I frowned. Who was this boss of the Korean Underworld? And what really did he want me to do?

-

The next day, there was a knock on the door.

"Hey hyung." Jungkook greeted Jimin when he opened the door.

"Does he want to meet Yerin?" Jimin asked darkly.

"Yep. Now come along, Yerin." Jungkook motioned for me to follow him out.

"I'm coming too." Jimin said.

"But he didn't ask for you." Jungkook said, "But then... I suppose it's you... Fine, but it's not my fault if he's not happy seeing you there." Jimin nodded.

Jimin and I followed Jungkook down the building to where a shiny black car was parked at the front, waiting. The driver, who was in suit and sunglasses, got out to open the door for us. We got in and I sat with Jimin at the back, while Jungkook went to sit at the front.

Throughout the car ride, it was very awkward. I tried to make small conversations to relieve that tense air but everytime, Jimin would just say something that ended the conversation. I gave up pretty quickly.

Looking out the window, I could tell that the scenery flying pass was transitioning from residential to more urban. The car stopped in front of a tall building, somewhat nearing a skyscraper. We got out and immediately, another person in suit escorted us inside. He led us past a lift that other people used, and into another one that seemed like a private lift. Inside, there was s big button for the top of the building along with the other floors.

The lift made a 'ding' noise when it arrived at the top floor, and the door slid open, revealing a grand and modern-looking office with the view of the whole city. We stepped out of the lift, and the person escorting us re-entered the lift and went back down in it.

I looked at the black glass desk, and saw that a man, similar age to Jimin and Jungkook, was sitting in a leather chair behind it. He had bleached grey hair. On his lap, was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. When she saw us, she placed a small kiss on the man's temple and went to sit on the sofa at the side.

The grey-haired man stood up and gesture for us to go closer. He was in a stylish black suit, and seemed to be the same height as Jimin. His eyes traveled to Jimin. When he spoke, his voice was sharp and cold.

"Jimin? I wasn't expecting you here."

"Yoongi hyung. I wanted to come." Jimin's tone of voice was a lot more respectful than I've ever heard.

He looked at Jimin for some tense seconds before suddenly smiling, "Long time no see, brother." I swear I heard Jungkook sighing in relief. The man and Jimin gave each other a hug.

The man came to give me a firm handshake, "My name is Min Yoongi. I'm the leader of FIRE."

"I'm Song Yerin." I said.

He went back to behind the desk and we all sat down.

"Tea? Coffee?" Yoongi offered, "I know you two like coffee. What about you, Yerin?"

"Um, tea please." I replied shyly.

"Alright." He picked up the phone on his desk and press some buttons, "Bring us two tea and two coffee." He put the phone down.

"So," The boss of the gang FIRE leaned back in his chair, "Jungkook said you are Jimin's girl. Is that true?"

I looked over at Jimin and he answered for me, "Yes she is."

He nodded, "Never thought I'd live to see the day you get a living girl."

My eyes widened as I realised the meaning behind what he just said.

"Yoongi!" The gorgeous girl on the sofa exclaimed.

"Yoongi hyung, you know I don't do that." Jimin said seemingly slightly pissed.

"I know. Don't worry Yerin, your boyfriend doesn't have necrophilia." He said.

"Ha... I'm glad..." I awkwardly laughed.

The door to the office opened, revealing a man carrying a tray of beverages. He came to the desk and laid out the tea and coffee for us.

"Thank you." I said as he gave me my cup of tea.

When he got around to Jungkook and Yoongi, he avoided both their gazes and focused solely on his job. I even noticed his hand shaking slightly when he served the tea to Yoongi. He scuttled out of the office immediately after he finished doing what he was here for.

"Anyway, back to what you are here for." Yoongi stated. The atmosphere seemed to become even more tense if that was possible. "I wanted to meet you."

"May I know why?" I asked politely.

"I'll tell you," Yoongi replied, "I became interested in you after Jungkook told me about you. I thought only an otherworldly woman would entice the Busan Killer that Korea knows and loves. Yet here you are, looking like just any ordinary girl on the street."

My brows furrowed. What was he getting to?

"When I heard that Jimin trusted you so much that he would even reveal his base location to you, I wanted to know what kind of person you are. So I had Jungkook test you."

"So that's why he randomly came and got me to see his work the other day?" I said.

"Precisely. And from the result, I am starting to see why Jimin chose you. Normally, when a respectable citizen like you see a murder with their eyes for the first time, they would either be traumatized, or instantly antagonize the killer. But you just stayed there, calm, as if it was nothing, not even trying to get away from Jungkook."

Now that I think about it, it was a bit dumb. But it didn't seem like Jungkook wanted to hurt or kill me so...

"What do you want from her?" Jimin suddenly questioned, interrupting my thoughts.

"Shush Jimin." Yoongi hushed him. "I was just getting to the point." He looked back at me, "Yerin, do you want to become one of us?"

My jaw dropped. Become part of the notorious FIRE gang? Become part of the Underworld? Why?

"No, she can't." Jimin stood up abruptly from his chair, "It is too dangerous."

"Sit down." Yoongi ordered with authority.

"Yerin don't belong in our world."

"Jimin, I said, sit down." Yoongi reiterated with an underlying tone of warning.

Jimin reluctantly sat back down, still glaring at the man in black.

"The moment you talked to her, Jimin," Yoongi said, "She has already been dragged into our world."

"Can I ask just something?" I timidly spoke up.

"Yes, Yerin?" Yoongi said.

"What will you have me do?"

"About that. I won't have you become a regular member of the organisation. I won't have you doing anything really, unless I have use for you. But as long as you are a member of FIRE in name, you have our protection."

"Protection?"

"Yes, you would need it if you want to continue being the Busan Killer's girl."

This all seems really fishy... Why would he offer me protection for nothing in return? There must be a catch, right? This all seems too good and straight forward.

"Why are you doing this, hyung?" Jimin asked, seemingly having similar thoughts as me on this one-sided deal.

"I simply want to have my dongseng's girl under my protection." He smiled, but it was as if I could sense something else hiding behind it. "And I really recommend you to accept my offer. After all, you don't want to antagonize FIRE. So, your thought, Yerin?"

Something tell me I really shouldn't refuse. Maybe the way he just not-so-subtlety threatened us. So I said, "Yes, I guess."

"Good." A calculating smile appeared on Yoongi's face, "You are officially a member of FIRE." He pressed a button somewhere, and the man that escorted us here arrived back in this office to escort is back down again.

Just before the door to the lift closed, Jimin said to Yoongi, "I hope this has nothing to do with the other incident." And he was shut out by the lift's door.

"What incident?" I asked as the lift started going down.

"You don't need to know." Jimin said. I sighed and Jungkook chuckled as if he knew something.

When we reached the entrance of the building Jungkook said, "I'm staying here. Goodbye, Yerin. Goodbye, Jimin hyung."

"Bye Jungkook." I said.

Jimin just left without saying a word. He seemed to have been in a terrible mood the whole day. I had to jog to catch up with him as he boarded the black car once again.

Once inside the car, he grabbed my hand and linked our fingers. He started squeezing so hard his knuckles turned white.

"Jimin, stop. You're hurting me."

He lightened his grip, "Do you really have to? Become one of us?"

"I don't think I could have said no." I explained, "You and Jungkook are the ones that keep on warning me not to defy Yoongi."

"I know, but that can't be all he wants. There must be something else."

It hurt me to see him worry like this. "I know but, Jimin, we can't do much now. So let's just go with it. I'm sure we will be fine." I was saying it as if to convince myself.

Jimin sighed, and kissed me on the forehead.
