"So why did you call me?" Jungkook asked as we were striding around the shopping mall.
"Well, Jimin is on a date with someone else. Figured I'd get back at him." I said half-seriously. Really I wanted to take my mind off what Jimin could possibly be doing to that poor woman right now. It is now obvious that I can't stop him from doing it, but I didn't want to think that I could partly be responsible for her death.
"Mm, not even going to question that." Jungkook pursed his lips together.
"Good idea," I looked around, "Didn't you promise me that you'd buy me new shoes?"
"Yep. Choose a pair."
"Just one pair?" I looked at Jungkook with puppy eyes. I had never really owned any nice shoes that weren't practical, but I've always longed after third pretty ones displayed at the window of the shops.
He rolled his eyes, "Fine. Buy away."
"Yay!" I dragged him into a nearby shoe shop and started my shopping spree. When I was browsing, my eyes were drawn to a pair displayed on a shelf. They were a pair of baby blue heels with ankle straps.
"Whao," I walked up to get a closer look at them, "They are nice, aren't they?"
Jungkook glanced at the price tag and laughed, "Nope, they look horrible."
I pouted, "Come on, you know they look nice." I took a glance at its prize and immediately pretended I haven't seen it.
"When would you even wear them anyway?" He asked.
"I don't know, but they're too pretty not to have." I smiled cheekily.
He sighed, "You women and your shoes."
He said to a saleswoman, "Can we get a pair of those?"
"Sure," She smiled, "What size?"
"245 please." I said.
"I will get you a new pair." The saleswoman then went to do so.
As we, well, Jungkook was paying, the woman at the counter eyed both of us and commented, "You two look great together."
"Ah... We're not..." I laughed awkwardly.
"Oh! I apologize." She said and returned Jungkook's card to him.
-
"That was fun. Thank you Kookie. We do this more often." I said as we approached the door of the apartment.
Jungkook laughed, "I'll have to kill so many people to get what I spent today back."
I got out the keys from my pocket and unlocked the door, only to close it right away when I saw what was inside.
"Yerin?" Jungkook looked at me questioningly.
I facepalmed, "Oh god, Jimin..."
Jungkook walked past me and open the door himself. I sighed and followed him in, quickly shutting the door behind me.
"Whoa, who is this hot babe?" Jungkook looked the woman, who was tied up by ropes to a chair, up and down.
"The girl Jimin is supposed to be on a date with." I said. The waitress struggled and screamed into the cloth that was tied around her mouth.
Jimin walked out from the kitchen with a glass of water. "Yerin, Jungkook."
"Why did you do that?" I nodded at the terrified waitress, "I said not to bring her anywhere near me."
Jimin shrugged, "Felt like it." My anger flared at his answered as he did the exact thing that I told him not to.
"Let her go." I said.
"Nope. She knows this place now, so she can't go."
I facepalmed again, "Does that mean you have to kill her?" The waitress's eyes widened in shock.
"I should go now." Jungkook said, "You two... you three have fun." He waved and left through the door.
I walked up to the woman and started untying the piece of cloth around her mouth.
"What are you doing?" Jimin questioned.
"Un-suffocating her." I answered stoically.
"Wait," Jimin ordered. He picked up a knife that was just lying on the table And held it to the woman's throat, "If you scream, or even make a noise without my permission, I will slit your throat. Understood?"
The waitress nodded frantically, with hot tear streaming down her cheeks. She was visibly shaking from fear.
I quickly untied and pulled away the cloth and she took a long, sharp breath.
"I'm so sorry." I apologized whole-heartedly to her, whichever probably wasn't much use, I wanted her to know that I was on her side if that was of any comfort to her.
"Please- Please don't kill me! I swear I won't tell anyone-" she begged between sobs.
"What's you name again?" I asked.
She coughed. "N-Nam Seoyun."
"Well, Seoyun, you are going to be alright. He won't kill you, but you have to do what we say." I said.
"Yes, anything! Please just don't kill me!"
I looked at Jimin accusingly, "Let her go."
"No. She will report us to the police the first chance she gets." He said.
I didn't know what to say. What Jimin was saying was true. If we let this woman go, the police would probably turn up on our doorstep the next day. I would probably be accused as an accomplice even though I took no part in the killings. I was aware of the danger of being Jimin's girlfriend, but I was not about to go to jail.
"We have to kill her." Jimin reiterated.
"There is no 'we' in that sentence," I said, "I haven't killed anyone in my life, nor will I ever."
Seoyun suddenly spoke up, "My brother will come for you if you kill me."
"Who's your brother?" I asked curiously.
"Nam Shiwoo. He's in the most powerful gang in Busan, FIRE, so you are dead if you kill me!" She said with a hoarse voice, a faint smirk appeared on her face as if she thought this was sure to gain her freedom.
Even I couldn't help but laughed when I heard that. However, a trace of guilt creeped into my heart, her brother's death was partly due to me.
The waitress looked at us as if we were crazy. "Why are you laughing? What's so funny!?"
I looked at Jimin, "Can I tell her?"
"Sure. I'll leave you to it." He went into his study and closed the door.
I turned back to Seoyun, "So... Do you know who he is?"
"Kim Taehyung?"
"No, well, yes, that's the name he's using. Do you know what he is?"
"A psychotic murderer!" She yelled.
"Shh, keep it down." I put a finger to my mouth. "Yes, and...?" I gave her a look that urged her to say the thing that I knew had definitely crossed her mind.
Her eyes widened with realisation, "The Busan Killer!?"
I just nodded.
"Oh my god, oh my god," she looked around in terror, "Oh my god! Why me!? Why-" She was starting to hyperventilate.
"Calm down, please, just calm down." I put a hand on her shoulder and rubbed in a attempt to soothe her.
"You are telling me to calm down when your boyfriend is about to murder me!? You crazy bitch!" She yelled with disbelieve.
My eyes narrowed, "If it wasn't for me, you'd already be dead. I advise you not to call me that."
Her breathing was starting to slow back down, and she looked away.
"Now, about your brother and the group he's in..." I really didn't have the heart to tell her that her brother was dead, so I skipped that part. "I'm a member too."
"What, you?"
"Yes, me."
"Is- Is he in it?" She whispered and nodded towards the room where Jimin was.
"He used to be, not anymore. But he is still good friends with the leader."
"Oh..." She started sobbing again, "So that means I'm really dead? Why me..."
"It's sort of your fault you know," I said, "If you didn't flirt with him in the restaurant, none of this would be happening."
She looked at me with more tears threatening to spill out. "I'm so sorry... I-I didn't mean it! I-I was lonely and then this amazing looking guy just comes in and I couldn't help-"
"Shh," I hugged her and let her cry into my shoulder, "It's okay, I'm gonna get you out of this."
I stood up, went to knock on the study door and went straight in. Jimin was listening to some music with his headphones on.
"Hey Jimin," I approached him.
He took off his headphones, "Are you done talking to her?"
"Yes, mostly..." I closed the door so Seoyun couldn't hear us, "Except the part about her brother."
"What about her brother?"
"Remember the guy that cut you a few days ago? That's her brother." I said.
"That's all the more reason for me to kill her."
"No, Jimin, we are not killing her." I stated firmly.
"Why? Why have you suddenly taken a liking to the woman who tried to make me cheat on you?"
I shook my head, hoping that he'd understand. "I don't like her, but you know I don't like it when you kill." I said, "I can't control what you do that I don't know, but when I do know about it, I will try to stop you, you know that." That was not entirely true. The fact that I was going against him was a sort of retaliation for him doing the very thing I didn't want him to by bring her here. It was quite childish, really.
"Right, no killing. But what if she goes to the police? How are we going to make sure we don't get arrested right after we let her go?"
I thought about it, then said, "Her brother."
"Use him as leverage?"
"Exactly. Just tell her you or Yoongi kidnapped him or something, and that if she tells, he'd be dead."
"Still can't guarantee she won't." Jimin crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair.
"I will make sure she doesn't." I said surely and went back out to where Seoyun was. Jimin came out after me. I bent down to her face level and tried to put this as gently as I could, "The leader of FIRE has your brother."
She looked nervously between the two of us. "W-What do you mean?"
Jimin stepped forward and spoke, "What she means is he did something to cross me, so his life is in our hands now."
She gasped, "No, that's impossible!"
I asked her, "Have you seen your brother lately?"
She looked down in realization, "He hasn't come home starting a few days ago..."
"Is okay, he won't be hurt," I said, "if you don't tell anyone about what happened today and about us."
She nodded quickly, "I promise I won't say a word! I promise you!"
Jimin said in a threatening voice, "And if you do, I will do what I was going to do to you today, and to your brother." He grabbed her hair and pulled so that she was facing him,
"Don't think I won't know if you do. I know where you work, and I can find out where you live pretty quickly."
She looked even more terrified than before if that was possible. "I swear I won't!"
"Good." He let go of her hair and started untying her from the chair. Seoyun immediately stumbled out of the chair when she was untied. She tried to run straight to the door but Jimin grabbed her by her arm.
"Remember you promise, or else." Jimin escorted her to the door and opened it for her. She bolted out and she was gone within a flash.
Jimin closed and locked the door again. He looked at me and said, "I still don't think that was a good idea.
