Confoundment
"Why does he want to see us again?" Jimin asked.
The thug shrugged and gestured again for us to follow him. I sqeezed Jimin's arm, and he nodded to me. We followed him to an adjacent street where a white van is parked and he told us to get in there. We complied. This time, he drove us to another old industrial building, situated more remotely than the one last time.
We were ushered into it. Inside, the whole floor was made into one room and it was quite empty save for the few chairs and tables scatted around. Jackson sat in one of them, flanked by a few malicious-looking men.
"Why do you want to see us?" Jimin said as we got into speaking range of Jackson.
Jackson stood up, "It's an emergency."
"What emergency?" I asked worriedly. Had there been news that Yoongi's death was just misinformation? Had something happened to Eunjung? Or was it related to FIRE?
"It's about Min Yoongi," Jackson said, and my eyes lit up. Maybe Yoongi really wasn't dead?
Before I could ask any further, a bunch of people suddenly ran into the building, surrounding us. The all had either metal pipes or knifes in their hands, and by the look of it, they were more that prepared to use them on us. Jimin immediately put an arm in front of me protectively. I looked around at the men staring at us in shock and confusion.
"What is this?" Jimin growled.
Jackson stepped froward as the men formed a gap for him. "Don't try to fight your way out of this. Come with us peacefully."
"What are you doing!?" Jimin reiterated aggressively.
"Don't resist, and I won't hurt you."
"You promised Yoongi-hyung we're safe here!" Jimin shouted.
Jackson laughed, "He is dead. There is no use in keeping a dead man's promise."
I saw Jimin's fists balled in rage. To be honest I was getting angry as well. I had trusted Jackson because he was a friend of Yoongi's, but now it turned out he was a persons that would turn his back on someone who trusted him. Maybe he was never Yoongi's true friend.
I could see Jimin wanted to fight, but it was obvious that there was no chance for us. We were two empty-handed people while they had more than ten weaponed men.
I quickly grabbed Jimin's fist and whispered to him, "Jimin, don't."
"He is a-"
"Choose your battle," I said, echoing the words Eunjung taught me a while ago.
That seemed to have done the trick. He relaxed a little and took a look around.
"Decided to come peacefully yet?" Jackson said.
I nodded at Jimin as reassurance. I put my hands up to show that I was surrendering, and Jimin reluctantly followed. I knew he was hating this as it was not in his prideful nature to give up, but I also knew this was our best option.
"Good." Jackson nodded to the others and some of them stepped forward and started tying our hands behind our backs with rough ropes.
"Jackson, why are you doing this?" I asked as calmly as I could.
"Namjoon told me to."
-----
I was gaged and blindfolded the whole time so I had no idea where we went. All I knew was that we were tossed back into the white van and driven off somewhere. I couldn't help but to think how bizarre it was that I was being kidnapped again. This whole time I was also worried about Jimin. The person Kim Namjoon wanted was me, what were they going to do to Jimin?
The van stopped and someone threw opened the door.
"I told you not to hurt her!" A familiar voice shouted.
Some one grabbed me and lifted me up bridal style. I could tell that we walked inside and I was gently laid down on chair. My hands were untied by someone. Finally, the blindfold came off.
My eyes widened when I saw the person in front of me. "Oppa!"
He smiled, "Yerin, I've missed you."
I grinned, "I've missed you too, Hoseok-oppa!"
I threw my arms around my brother whom I haven't seen in such a long time. He happily hugged me back.
I asked after I pulled away, "Oppa...Why are you here?"
"I'm here to save you," he said with a cheerful smile.
"B-But..." I looked around. The men there were not attacking him or anything, but rather, they seemed to take orders from him. "Save from who?"
"From him." Hoseok nodded towards Jimin, who was propped against the wall, his hands still tied behind his back, and blindfold in place.
"W-What do you mean?" I asked, completely confused.
"I'm saving you from the grasp FIRE! You've been under their watch haven't you? What have they done to you? Did they brainwash you?"
I shook my head out of befuddlement. "Well, yes I have been with FIRE, but-"
"It's alright now. Bludhood will be protecting you from now on." He interrupted.
"Bludhood?" My eyes widened.
Hoseok nodded, "That's the gang I'm in. We oppose that evil FIRE gang. You know, the man Mum married, he is a top dog of Bludhood. So now I'm good friends with the leader of Bludhood. You don't have to worry, you will be safe from now on."
This bombardment of new information was just too much for me. So my brother is in Bludhood. My mother married an executive of Bludhood as well. I knew that Mum remarried, but had no idea it was to a gangster. And the leader of Bludhood, Kim Namjoon, is friend with my brother. What on earth was going on?
Hoseok ruffled my hair, something I had always loved back when we still lived together.
I looked into his eyes, "Hoseok-oppa..."
"What is it, Rin?" He used that endearing nickname he had for me.
I had no idea how to explain everything to him. Where do I even start?
"Oppa, what are you going to do to him?" I asked, looking at Jimin who was just silently sitting there.
"Oh, him? It's your choice. I mean, he is the one FIRE assigned to stop you from running away right? You can decide his fate."
I shook my head again, not able to decide whether I should laugh or cry. I stood up to stretch my aching joints and started walking towards Jimin. "You got it wro-"
Suddenly, Jimin somehow managed to free himself from the restraints. He jumped up and ripped his blindfold off, surprising the man standing right next to him. Jimin threw a punch in his face. He then quickly snatched the knife out of his hand and grabbed me.
Jimin held the knife to my throat and shouted, "Don't move, or I'll kill her!"
I froze along with Hoseok. Hoseok put out a hand and shouted to the men in the room, "Don't move!"
Hoseok straighten up and said cautiously, "Just let Yerin go."
"Don't move." Jimin reiterated while slowly moving backwards towards the door with me.
"What does FIRE want?" Hoseok shouted, "Why are you holding Yerin captive? You know she's not the Busan Killer!"
"I know that," Jimin said as we kept on backing up, "But she is not going with you."
"Tell you boss Oh Eunjung we are willing to trade for Yerin." Hoseok said.
"Give me the car keys." Jimin demanded and held me to him even closer. The man holding the keys looked at Hoseok who nodded however reluctantly. The man threw the keys to Jimin who caught it.
Hoseok's hatred for Jimin was masked by the apprehension on his face, "Please, just don't hurt her. Bludhood is willing to make a peaceful trade with FIRE for Yerin."
"No." Suddenly Jimin pulled me out the building and quickly unlocked the van still parked outside. He pushed me into the passenger seat while he ran around and got into the driver's seat. He started the car and stepped on the gas peddle without a moment of delay.
----------
Turns out Hoseok has actually been Yerin's older brother all along :) It was mentioned by Jimin right back in the second chapter 'Monster' that she has a brother. Well done cerababeara for getting it correct!
