Good day everyone! I just finished a 25k word Ninjago AU called "Street Smarts". Here's a more formal description -->

Princess Harumi is on the run from the law. The royal family believes their daughter was kidnapped, but in reality, Harumi is hiding in the dregs of Ninjago City under a fake name. She's working hard to stay alive in the most lethal part of town, and there's no length she won't go to to stay out of the royal family's grasp.

One day, however, she's met with an ultimatum. Capture the Ninja—the city's most feared assassins—or die on the streets. And Harumi's going to have to do it while babysitting a bratty, green-eyed child and battling college exams in the process. There's no way this could go wrong.

Alternatively: a Ninjago AU where I mess everything up.

A few weeks ago I was recovering from a surgery and had a lot of time on my hands. This AU was inspired by some random Tumblr posts, and since I had time, I thought, "Why not?" 

I won't be posting this AU immediately as my full attention needs to be on Prophecy right now. The Part 3 chapters are longer than normal, so I'm going to have to devote more time to making sure I get those edited. However, I was thinking about posting "Street Smarts" after that, while I'm uploading the oneshots from Book 2.5. The oneshots are going to be three weeks apart like in Book 1.5, so I figured giving you all more frequent uploads in a different story might help the wait be less long--if that even makes sense. Anyway, this AU CAN and WILL mess up common Ninjago tropes/ships/etc. It'll require an open mind, but I'm pretty proud of what came out. 

(To give some perspective on what 25k works looks like, both "Departed" and "Prophecy" are over 180k words, and the entirety of "How I Met You" is a little over 20k. It'll be a shorter book, but it was a nice break from the Departed series and all of its complicated lore lol.)
