"Am I right in assuming that you have come to talk about Professor Snape?" McGonagall smiled as Hermione entered her office. "I'll do it, I'll nurse him over the summer break." Hermione nodded.
"That's fantastic news dear, I was beginning to think nobody cared enough to help him." The old witch sighed.

"I do care enough, I need to see him recover." Hermione smiled. "Yes, you do seem to care rather a lot for Severus. Is there anything I should know Hermione?" McGonagall asked with a slightly pressuring gaze.

"Yes, you should know that I'm the one who found him and took him to St Mungos. Dumbledore gave me this potion and.."
"It's ok, I understand dear. You feel as though you gave him his life back and therefore should aid him until he recovers." The headmaster nodded in understanding.
Deep in her wise old mind she had an inkling of something more.. but she trusted Hermione enough to not do anything stupid.

"When should i tell him? there are only 3 days left until term ends." Hermione sighed, "I think it best you tell him today dear, but please don't be put out if his nostrils flare a bit, so to speak."

Hermione understood only too well what she meant, he really would take it like a ton of shit but however much bile he spat over it, she was to ignore it and not take it to heart.

She waited until that evening to visit him, as she had an exam that afternoon.
She hoped that her marks would be good concidering all the stress she had been under, as her concentration has wavered of late.

"Hermione... she made the right choice! even if it did take her long enough.. blasted woman.." he mumbled on as Hermione took the finished book from his lap. "Yes, she did. It all works out in the end.." She beamed happily, "Does it? does it really though?" Snape grunted.

"Professor McGonagall has told me to inform you that she has found someone to care for you over the summer break." Hermione told him gently, "Oh... I see." He sighed, a sadness in his black eyes.

"It's me Professor, and I know that you're going to be really pissed off.. but she thinks that you would feel more comfortable around me." She explained, wincing whilst awaiting the explosion of anger.

"You? Really?" He smiled gently, as if a weight had been lifted. "Yes, me. And I promise you, any bed baths and things like that i will look away.. you can guide me." She blushed. He felt relaxed, she wasn't going to gawp at him, she would give him his dignity. "I will also add that I'm a great cook so it will be like a five star hotel." She laughed.

Snape smiled gently, it wasn't a full smile but at least he hadn't hit the roof.
"Sounds like the ideal vacation." He joked, before chuckling a little. "Well, I'm sorry that I can't stay much longer tonight only I have an exam straight after breakfast and I need to study a little..." Hermione apologised sadly, "do not apologise Miss Granger.. that should always be your top priority." He insisted, forgetting that he had let her first name slip a few times.
