Demons Part 5 (Final Part)
When the days are cold
And the cards all fold
And the saints we see
A
re all made of gold
When your dreams all fail
And the ones we have
Are the worst of all
And the blood's running stale
I wanna hide the truth
I wanna shelter you
But with the beast inside
There's nowhere we can hide
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
Laxus and the other wizards from Fairy Tail practically had their jaws hit the ground (or, in this case, the roof). They never expected to see a murder so gruesome and with so little emotion -- or rather, with so little remorse.
You stood there with a human heart in your wolf hand, watching the now lifeless body collapse.
A small groan was heard as Wendy covered her mouth with her hands, which were shaking out of fear. The young Sky Dragon Slayer felt sick to her stomach. She wanted to vomit after seeing you rip a man's heart out.
And she wasn't the only one who felt this way.
Mirajane actually felt lightheaded in addition to her nausea. It took all of her strength not to faint on the spot.
"Here." You broke the silence on the rooftop, turning around and holding out the heart to Matt.
Matt opened a jewerly-type box, and you walked over and placed the heart inside.
At this moment, everything had sunken in.
"DAAAAAAAD!"
Quincy, snapping out of shock, ran over to his father's corpse -- clutching it as if to contain the soul that was once there in the body.
"No." He sobbed, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no." Tears were flowing from his eyes like water from a waterfall.
"Well, our work here is done." Matt announced, shrugging his shoulders.
Lightning began to bounce off the surface of the rooftop. "You aren't going anywhere." Laxus snarled, completely furious just like his fellow Fairy Tail mages.
"Sorry, but we've got a delivery to make." You stated, "Don't take this personally. We're just doing our job."
"JOB!" Quincy spat, glaring at you from over his shoulder. "YOU KILLED MY FATHER!"
"Yes, the same father who was having an affair with a woman other than his wife. A woman who is underage, I might add." You glared down at the pitiful teenager in tears, no sympathy in your eyes. "He was a disgusting excuse of a human being." Then your eyes turned completely black. "And that's why his offspring must die as well!" You grinned wickedly, reaching that same arm out, now drenched in blood.
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
Don't get too close
It's dark inside
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
"Just because someone makes a mistake," A stern voice spoke, "does not mean they deserve to die." Erza slashed her sword, cutting the air between Quincy and yourself. You dodged her attack easily, looking at the angered redhead unamused.
"Every single life should be valued, cherished, no matter how bad the action." She continued, "And to see someone blatantly disregard this rule is disgusting. You most certainly are not (Y/N)."
"I assure you I'm (Y/N)." Your grin grew, "I'm just an older version that's been updated, and I now have complete control of this body."
"Not for long." Laxus commented from behind you, his fist raised above his head. Bringing it down, lightning came with it. However, he was surprised to see you use magic to turn into a bright, yellow thunderbird. Your new body absorbed the lightning and fired that same magic back at him via the mouth.
Laxus' eyes widened, jumping backwards and dodging the breath attack.
*A/N: Remember, Dragon Slayers may be immune to their element, but they are not immune to their own magic (e.g., Natsu cannot eat his own fire).*
"In that form, Laxus won't be able to attack her." Freed noticed. "I'll write an enchantment."
"Not so fast." Matt smirked. He pointed a finger at Freed, and the greenhaired wizard flew backwards and was pinned down to the roof by an unseen force.
"Gravity Magic?" Mira mumbled.
"This guy's going to be a nuisance." Bickslow commented, taking off his helmet. "Better take care of him quickly. Figure Ey-!" Before he could finish, Bickslow covered his eyes while screaming in pain. He crouched down, groaning in the process.
"Bickslow, what's wrong?" Evergreen asked, panicking.
"Oh, I just applied pressure to his eyeballs." Matt answered nonchalantly.
"He can apply gravity to body parts?" Carla questioned, frozen in shock.
"And organs." Matt added, "I am an assassin after all."
"Oh, no. What do we do?" Wendy asked, feeling terrified of this man.
"Wendy," Mira called, "go help Erza and Laxus. You need to cast the seal on (Y/N). Leave this guy to me and Evergreen."
"But-"
"She's right." Evergreen chimed, "We can handle things from here."
Wendy observed the two women, not believing them. Their eyes told the opposite story that their words were saying. However, they had a point. The only reason she was allowed to come on this mission was because she was the only one who could cast the seal.
That was the point of this entire mission.
So, Wendy nodded at the two women and headed toward the "Laxus and Erza versus (Y/N)" fight with Carla following her.
Matt's eyes followed Wendy as well, and Mira noticed this. Before he could say or do anything, he received a kick to the jaw.
"I'd appreciate it if you gave us your undivided attention." Mira said, now adorning Satan Soul.
Erza dodged another attack in her Lightning Empress Armor.
Laxus kept dodging because he could neither attack nor get close enough for a fist fight.
"Sky Dragon's Ro-" Before Wendy could finish, she had to jump back and dodge an attack from Terrell, who attempted to cut her down with his sword.
"Sorry, Wendy." The wolf said, pointing his sword at the little girl.
"Terrell, we're trying to help (Y/N)." The petite wizard pleaded, "We came with a way to fix everything."
"I figured, but like I've said, my loyalty lies with (Y/N). I won't betray her. So, to get to her, you need to defeat me."
"I can be of service then." Erza appeared in front of Wendy, requipping into her standard Heart Kreuz Armor. "Wendy, assist Laxus and cast the seal. Terrell is mine."
"Okay!" Wendy nodded, running toward the one-sided "Laxus vs. (Y/N)" fight.
You fired another attack at Laxus, but a wall of wind blocked it. "Dragon Slayer Secret Art," Wendy shouted, a barrier of wind surrounding you and Wendy and encasing you both inside. "Shattering Light Sky Drill!"
She knew this spell was not enough to defeat you, but it dragged your attention away from Laxus. And like she predicted, you were not defeated. There was not a single scratch on you.
You were, however, back in your human form.
Wendy took a deep breath before reciting the spell.
"What are you-" You growled, taking a step forward toward the Sky Dragon Slayer. However, you were interrupted by arms wrapping around your waist.
"Keep going, kid." Laxus instructed, keeping a good hold on you.
"How dare you touch me with your filthy hands!" You seethed, squirming in his embrace.
"That's funny because (Y/N) never thought my hands were filthy."
You gritted your teeth in rage. "You know, if you want to see your (Y/N) so badly, let me show you what's become of her." You dug your nails into Laxus' arm, his veins starting to turn black before everything went pitch black for him.
Curtain call
So last of all
When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl
So they dug your grave
In the masquerade
We'll come calling out
At the mess you've made
Don't wanna let you down
But I am hellbound
Though, this is all for you
Don't wanna hide the truth
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
Laxus looked around at what appeared to be a dungeon. There was only one candle lit in the center of the room. He heard chains rattling from one of the dark corners of the room, and he recognized that scent.
"(Y/N)?" He called.
"Laxus?"
His head whipped in the direction of your voice and it took him no time at all to run to that corner of the room (despite the fact that it was so dark that he couldn't see).
But he found you.
"Thank goodness." He sighed, as he was finally able to touch you. And how cold you were. "(Y/N), are you alright?" He asked.
"No, not really." You replied, "I've been chained up for who knows how long."
"Speaking of which, where are we?"
"You're in my mind," Without waiting for Laxus' reply, you continued. "and we have to hurry up and get out of here before she comes back."
"Who?"
A low, animalistic growl was heard from behind Laxus.
"Her." You replied, pointing behind him.
He turned around and was met with a large, (f/c) wolf, with pitch black eyes, staring at him with intent to kill.
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
Don't get too close
It's dark inside
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
"What the-" Laxus gasped.
"That's the other me." You explained. "The me that I always kept locked up. The me who has a thirst for blood. The me who was set free when Matt injected me with that syrum. And the me you have been interacting with this whole time. Laxus, get me out of these chains so I can gain control of my body again."
"Right." Laxus agreed, keeping his guard up because this 'other you' was wanting to dissect him and eat his organs for dinner.
However, every time he took a step backwards, the wolf took a step forward. "Tch." Laxus furrowed his eyebrows in annoyance. He decided to go ahead and get this over with, running over to you quickly and tugging at the chains.
Meanwhile, the wolf watched the blond try and help you -- giving him a ten second head start. She then charged at the couple, snarling at them and saliva dripping from her mouth.
"Laxus, move. She's coming." You instructed, tapping on his arm impatiently.
"I'm not going anywhere." Laxus replied, staying focused on the chains.
"Listen, she can't hurt me, but she'll try and hurt you." You warned, "Plus, you're in my head. You can't use magic here."
"If this isn't my real body, then she shouldn't be able to hurt me either, right?"
"I'm pretty sure your injuries here would crossover to the outside world." You hypothesized, "But I'd rather not test it right now."
"Too bad because guess what." Laxus stopped tugging at the chains and looked into your (e/c) eyes. "I'm here and since I'm here, I'm gonna save you from your demon. I've made mistakes in my past too, but the one thing I've learned is that we are not our past. We grow, mature, and change as we continue to live. So, don't give up fighting and don't succumb to this demon!"
With that being said, Laxus turned to face the wolf head-on. As she was right in front of him, she opened her mouth, preparing to attack. Instead, Laxus stepped to the side, dodging her, and once her mouth was closed, he quickly wrapped his arms around her snout, keeping her mouth closed.
Annoyed, she growled and shook her head violently, attempting to shake Laxus off. However, the blond did not budge.
Huffing, she raised her paw and quickly slashed the wizard, which worked effectively in him releasing his hold on her.
Laxus fell to the ground, immediately losing consciousness. He did not have time to defend himself, so he had deep slash marks across one arm and his chest -- all of which were bleeding profusely.
"Laxus!" You shouted. For you, everything at that moment occurred in slow motion. This shouldn't have happened. Laxus shouldn't have gotten involved with your problems. He shouldn't have gotten involved with you. You tugged at the chains with all of your strength, tears running down your cheeks, when you noticed your body beginning to glow.
At the same time, the wolf's body was glowing as well. With each passing second, the light grew brighter and brighter until you were blinded by the light.
Once the light was gone, you took notice of your surroundings: you were free and your inner demon was in chains once again (though, she was back in her human form, and unconscious, so she was an exact replica of yourself).
"What just happened?" You thought aloud.
Then, before you could react anymore, you regained consciousness -- opening your eyes to see the Fairy Tail wizards, excluding Wendy, looking down at you.
Taking the opportunity to observe your surroundings, you concluded that you were lying down.
"(Y/N)!" Evergreen exclaimed, "Thank goodness you're okay!"
"You are (Y/N), right?" Bickslow asked, wary because you have yet to say anything.
"I-" You spoke, your voice soft. "I, uh-" Your emotions got the better of you and before you knew it, you were crying. "I'm sorry. This is all my fault."
"Don't be ridiculous!" Evergreen gasped.
"Evergreen's right." Freed nodded, "Matthew is the one to blame."
"But you were all put in danger because of my inner demon." You retorted. "You could have all been killed."
"But we weren't." A voice said and you turned your head to the side to see Laxus lying right next to you, being healed by Wendy. Turns out your hypothesis from earlier was spot on. "I don't know about the rest of these guys, but I would gladly die trying to save you. And if I had to be killed by someone, I'd want it to be you. Of course, I'd want it to actually be you and not someone else possessing your body."
"But the goal of the misson was to not die." Erza pointed out, "And we succeeded."
"But-"
"No buts, (Y/N)." Laxus rolled his eyes, "We all came here of our own free will to save you from yourself. Whatever injuries we got today, we wear them with pride. All that matters is that you're feeling like yourself."
You stayed silent as you pondered over his words. After a minute, you wondered, "What about Matt?"
"Oh, don't worry about him." Mira smiled, "He's deep in unconsciousness and won't be waking up any time soon."
"The Magic Council is on their way as well." Erza stated, "And don't worry, you won't be in any trouble."
You looked at each wizard and saw how all of them were heavily injured and covered with bruises and dried blood.
"We all came here of our own free will to save you from yourself. Whatever injuries we got today, we wear them with pride."
"Thank you." You sighed, beginning to feel emotional again. You were truly grateful to have such loyal and committed friends who were willing to risk their lives to save you and bring you home.
You were never going to forget what they did for you today for as long as you live.
- THE END -
A/N: I wanted to fit in a romantic ending between (Y/N) and Laxus, but it didn't work out that way. Sorry. I hoped you enjoyed it nonetheless. Also, if anyone has read a really good 'Laxus x Reader' fanfic (on any site, not just Wattpad), feel free to comment them. I'm looking for good stories to read in my free time and I feel like I've read everything (I'm totally fine with rereading stuff, but I'd love to read something new).
