CHAPTER 6
𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓪𝓵𝔀𝓪𝔂𝓼 𝓫𝓮 𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓮𝓻 𝓭𝓲𝓼𝓪𝓼𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓼

¡UNEDITED¡

Hyunjin didn't know what to expect upon knocking on Felix's door, Changbin hovering close behind him. He had met the freckled boy only on two separate occasions, and while this dinner was simply a friendly co-worker meeting- Hyunjin couldn't help but wonder if perhaps they could get dinner alone another time.

Like, come on, he was gay, not blind. There is no way anyone can deny how attractive Lee Felix actually was. From that intense spark in his eyes, pigmented skin and fucking dimples. How unfair. He was also undeniably charming, it was borderline annoying.

However that thought was immediately and insincerely eradicated from his mind when a man, who was obviously not Felix, opened the door. A wide and charming smile and a baby in his arms.

What.

He really hoped he wasn't expressing his shock on his face, but the strangers smile only grew at the sigh of him and Changbin.

"Hi! You must be Felix's coworkers, please come in!" He said happily, opening the door wider. The small boy in his arms stared up at Hyunjin with some sort of hesitation, not quite comfortable with the sudden invitation of strangers. Hyunjin could relate, but then felt bad about it.

Oh god, what if this adorable baby and handsome man were Felix's adorable baby and handsome man?

"Let me introduce us," the stranger said, after Hyunjin and Changbin (who looked torn between disgusted and constipated, mostly at the baby) took off their shoes, "I'm Lee Minho and this is Lee Minjun, my son, and Felix is-"

"Oh hey guys!" A deep voice said from the living room doorway, and their stood Lee Felix himself, with an apron and flour dusted hair. "Sorry I didn't hear you- come in! Minho why are you making them stand at the doorway?"

'Minho' scoffed, leaning into Hyunjin as he whispered with a smile, "He's taking dinner seriously for once, don't get used to it."

"I heard that you butthead!"

Minho chuckled warmly, and Hyunjin couldn't help the twitch of his lips.

But there was a slight disappointment stirring in his stomach, Felix was married with a child. But on a closer thought, was he really surprised?

Hyunjin mentally made a note to push away any thought about a potential relationship, he refused to be a home wrecker. That thought was not even present in his mind once Minho smiled warmly at him with the cutest baby ever seen on the planet cuddled in his arms.

"Come on, let's go sit in the dining room." Minho then said, dropping Minjun onto the floor and holding him up by his hands, as he helped the baby walk forward slowly. "We're trying to get him to walk faster, sorry."

"It's not a problem...at all." Changbin replied, and only then did Hyunjin realise the similar confusion on his friends face.

Changbin was facing his own inner turmoil, his plan not going the way he had first considered. He had thought it would just be the demon they would be having dinner with, not two demons and a human baby.

Something definitely wasn't right here, demons don't just suddenly pop down onto earth and adopt cute orphan children or join fashion companies for charity- there had to be some sort of ulterior motive.

Soul trafficking? Brains washing? End of the world plotting (Or whatever demons did in their free time)?

But Changbin found it extremely hard to plot a plan to reveal the evil doings of the demons when the sweet smell of roast chicken was attacking his senses. As well as Minjun's adorable babbles filling the silent spaces throughout the conversations.

They walked through the living room, and a smile was fighting it's way onto Hyunjin's lips at the mess that was there. Toys, clothes and colourful scribbles paper lay all over the floor, as well as playing mat surrounded by pillows. The aura seemed so wholesome, and Hyunjin's heart yearned for the comfortable domestic life in his future.

However for Changbin, the moment he entered the living room, he smacked face first into an invisible wall, separating him from the rest of the room.

His frown deepened, as he watched Hyunjin and Minho walk perfectly easily, although while he tried to move forward, he was immediately pushed back.

Minho glanced back, catching Changbin's furious glare.

Changbin watched in confusion as Minho's face suddenly paled, and he looked almost scared. He stood up straight, almost throwing his son off balance as Minjun fell back onto his legs.

"Uh, Hyunjin do you mind walking him to the dining room? My backs killing me."

Hyunjin, bless him, looked delighted as he eagerly nodded. He bent over slightly, holding out both his index fingers. "Want to walk with me to the dining table?"

Minjun recoiled, trying to make himself disappear into Minho's legs. But the demon gave him a soft pat on the head, and a gentle push matched with a reassuring nod. Changbin was baffled at the sight, but even more shocked when Minjun seemed comforted by it, hesitantly reading ouch to hold Hyunjin's fingers.

Hyunjin smiled brightly, Minjun mirroring him a little less brightly, but equally as enjoyed. Together, they both slowly (or waddled) towards the dining room, Hyunjin saying encouraging words the whole way there.

Changbin stared at the demon when the two humans left, surprised to see a fond and soft expression. But it disappeared so quickly, Changbin doubted for a moment that he had even seen such a thing. Minho spun around to face him, the repeated expression of fear on his features as he swiftly walked over.

He was expecting to be threatened, or forced to go away, but instead the demon starting waving his hands around, speaking some sort of sign language.

"I'm sorry about the barrier." He started, sounding genuine, "When Felix first told me we were getting visitors, I panicked and put up a barrier, but forgot to remove it."

Changbin stared in awe at the gestures Minho made, before the invisible barrier shone a gentle hue of red around the room, before dissipating into the air around them.

Cautiously, the angel took a small step forward, half expecting this to be a trick and for him to get burned painfully, similar to what he had done to the other demon when they first met and shook hands. However nothing happened, and instead Chanbin just moved a step closer towards Minho.

Having just used his abilities, Minho's eyes shined red, making Changbin take a shocked step back.

Minho, noticing the angels discomfort, cleared his throat and stepped back also, eyes returning to their original colour. "Uh...sorry again. I hope you're not offended."

"What was that?" Chagbin enquired, ignoring the apology.

Minho looked startled for a moment, hands fidgeting behind his back, where he was ready to call back the barrier. He wanted to avoid angering the angel anymore than he had accidentally already done. Afterall the main reason he was even here was to try and stop the angel from hurting both him, Felix and by default- Minjun.

"Uh, a protective barrier. For security." Minho replied, unsure as to why the angel seemed to get angrier.

"Protective? It burnt me!"

"It's not protecting you," Minho said sarcastically, holding back an eye roll, "It protects us."

By 'us', Changbin assumed it meant his family.

But that was so much worse, because what in the world could be so dangerous that two demons (who were one of the most power creatures to exist) had to fear for their safety? Perhaps this was why they were on earth with humans? Escaping from whatever hellish beast they had accidentally let out under the world?

"From what?" He asked curiously, concerned for everyone now that there seemed to be such a threat.

Minho hesitated, only making Changbin worry more.

"From...you."

Changbin felt his back muscles twitch, the urge to release his wings and get away growing increasingly more powerful. Because what type of answer was that. Why would they need to be protected from him?

"I just...didn't want you to hurt Minjun." Minho further developed, his nervousness only making Changbin more confused.

Changbin's eyes widened, "You'd think I'd hurt a child?! I'm not a-"

He held himself, not wanting to show disrespect by downgrading the other when he was literally in his house (afterall, who knew what other traps were set for him).

Minho winced at the indication, stepping back again.

Then did it only hit Changbin that Minho was scared of him. Not just concerned for the safety of his son, but his safety in general.

Changbin had never felt like a threat before, and he didn't like the feeling of overpowering dominance either.

Minho gulped, "I just...assumed. Since you're an angel, and I'm...me...you'd try and take him away."

Oh dear lord send me help, changbin thought helplessly. The roles were not supposed to be this way, the demons were not supposed to fear the angels.

Not that Changbin had met any demons long enough to know that for sure.

"I'm..." Changbin muttered, completely in shock, when he suddenly felt an evil aura approaching followed by footsteps.

Both he and Minho snapped their necks towards the door, feeling exposed although nothing had escalated.

Felix raised an eyebrow at Minho, a subtle indication of 'are you okay?'.

Hyunjin on the other hand looked as confused and Changbin felt, staring at his friend with a surprised glance.

"You two okay?" Hyunjin asked cautiously, noticing the distance between the two men.

Minho was the first to clear his throat, masking his apprehension with a fake happiness, "Of course! Me and Changbin were just chatting shiz about the two of you."

Felix snorted, "Ha, shiz."

Hyunjin relaxed at that, rolling his eyes at Felix before nodding his head towards the dining room, Minjun happily bouncing in his arms (seemingly more comfortable with him now), "Well come on then, the foods ready and it looks delicious."

"If Felix made it, I highly doubt that assumption." Minho teased, walking up to Hyunjin, pinching Minjun's cheeks.

"Hey! I can cook!"

"Ramen doesn't count."

Changbin watched the two humans and two demons walk away, as he was left stunned and feeling unbalanced by the conversation. Questions swirled around his mind like a typhoon, Minjun's loud laughter of glee painfully distracting.

Just what was happening with demons?

Why were they here?

And...why were they afraid of angels?

―🏴‍☠️―

Hesitantly, Changbin sat down beside Hyunjin at the dinner table. Minho and Minjun took the chair and highseat sat opposite them, but while Changbin tried match the demons gaze, Minho never glanced in his direction.

Minjun suddenly cut through his staring stuck a chubby hand out at Hyunjin, his past suspicion gone and replaced with glee. "Hi!"

Hyunjin smiled warmly back at the baby, grabbing the outstretched fist and shaking it softly, "Hello to you to Minjun. How old are you?"

There was a pause, and the boy went serious as he deliberated his age, Minjun snuck a small glance at Minho, who gave him a reassuring nod, before holding up four fingers. "Fwour!"

"Wow! Four years old!" Hyunjin replies in fake-astonishment, making the baby grin with pride.

Changbin could easily see the dark smokey aura around Minho, and a slight hue of black around Minjun since they had spent so much time with one another- so it was no doubt that the small boy was his son, whether blood or not, their bond was true. Not to mention Minjun seemed happy, healthy and extremely sociable; there was no need for Changbin to be so suspicious.

His angel intuition said otherwise.

All of a sudden Felix bounded into the room, holding four wine glasses and a huge bottle of red wine. He placed the glasses gently onto the table, around the huge tray of roast chicken, bowls of salad, roast potatoes and stuffing.

It was quite dramatic for a simple dinner, as it almost seemed like a christmas eve meal. Both Hyunjin and Changbin were suddenly glad that they had chosen not to eat lunch, but still marvelled at the amount of food produced for the four (plus Minjun) of them.

(Although unknown to both Hyunjin and Changbin, the demons had conjured all the food as soon as they heard the knock at the door, having completely forgotten that humans actually ate food at dinner and not just drink hundred year old wine.)

"Behold!" He said dramatically, placing the bottle dramatically on the table, "The greatest chicken you shall ever have the fortune of eating."

Minho snorted, rolling his eyes at the mans antics. Secretly pretending to puke behind Felix's back, making Minjun let out a shrill of delight and Hyunjin hide a giggle.

Felix continued to serve the food, knowing what was going on behing him but refused to react, just smiling fondly as he did so.

Changbin just watched, confused.
