"Rui, I'll be back tomorrow!"
"Promise?"
"Promise".

That was almost a week ago and you felt horribly guilty because you broke the promise.

I hope he won't be upset

You thought to yourself and nervously headed to his house,"R-Rui?", you whispered out.

There was silence.

Was he not here?

"Rui", you called out again.

You saw a head pop up and it was him.
He looked visibly upset.
"Ryo I'm really sorry for not-"
He hugged you tightly and started to tear up," I thought you left me", he stated quietly.
You rubbed his back," I'm sorry for making you worry", you replied.
He rubbed his nose," I-it's ok y/n...you're here now", he gave a slight smile which made you blush.
"Where were you though?", he questioned still hugging you.
"I wasn't allowed to go outside for a while because of my stupid dad", you replied and sighed." He thinks I'm doing shady things".

He slightly chuckled," really?".
You hummed in response.
"Anyways, how are you?", you asked him with a grin.
"Ah, the usual...staying inside all day", he stated.
"I'm sure you'll be able to go outside one day without your illness", you smiled.
He smiled," you think so?", he asked.
"Mmm!"
"Also Y/n"
"Yes Rui?"

He was fighting with his kimono for a bit and was visibly nervous and red," well..."
You neared towards his face with anticipation.
"Well...if I do get stronger then...will"
"Yes?"
"Will you stay with me?"
"Of course Rui!", you exclaimed," why do you think I won't?"
"No I mean...like married?"
You widened your eyes and your mouth hung open a bit.

"O-oh never mind...that was stupid of me to ask", he rubbed his head.
"Oh no no, it's fine...I accept it", you replied flustered.
"You're being serious?", he asked.
You nodded your head.
"Yes!!", he exclaimed and hugged you.
You stroked his head and cupped his face,"This is to seal the promise", you then gently kissed him on the cheek.

He became a flustering mess.

"Y-y/n", he stuttered,"I-I Umm"
You giggled.
"You're cute when you're blushing Rui".
"T-thank you".

TIMESKIP

It had been almost a year since that sweet day, he vanished.
It was as if he was never there and his parents were murdered by an animal the townspeople said.
He didn't say a word or anything, you searched and searched for your dear friend.

He was your only true friend.
Your future partner and the only person who would listen to you.

You cried, a lot.
Day and night you would look for him, not caring about the dangers of the night.
"R-Rui!!", you shouted in distress," Rui, are you there!?"
You dropped onto the ground sobbing,"please...just come back".
"Who is this?", a low and toxic voice spoke out.
You shoutout head up and widened your eyes,"R-Rui".

The 'person' looked exactly as your friend but he had striking white hair and skin, and those eyes were different. It wasn't the the Rui you knew, he didn't have those enchanting amethyst eyes, and his voice was...menacing.

"How do you know me?", it spoke out.
You shivered," a-are you Rui?", you spoke out.
"Yes"
"Do you remember me?", you asked.
He stared at you for some moment," no".
"Please try to remember me, it's me...y/n", you pleaded.
"You're annoying", he comedy stated.
"No please Rui remember who you were, remember the promises", you started to sob," I-I'm begging", you quietly spoke out.

He stepped closer," just die", you knelt down and put your arms around yourself, embracing the attack.

But nothing came.
Instead a pair of slender arms wrapped themselves around you and you opened your eyes, shocked to see him hugging you," y/n...".
You cried," you remembered!", you hugged him back tightly.
"I'm sorry y/n", he stated and looked at you.
His eyes were different now, more soft and tender,"it's fine Rui, it's alright", you replied with a smile.

He then kissed you on the lips gently.
You blushed.
"You're cute when you blush", he stated.
"H-hey that's my line", you exclaimed.
He grinned,"well I guess the tables have turned y/n", he teasingly said.
You pouted and he pinched your cheeks.
"Let's go, come with me", he let out a hand and you accepted it.
"Where are we going Rui?".
"Home"

I just want to say that I'm really really sorry for these slow updates, I have a lot of course work to do and I had to practice for a performance the past week, so I wasn't able to have time to update!
